The sole focus of Nicole's life has become having a baby. After heartbreaking losses and medical interventions, she just got home after a last Hail Mary attempt with a surrogate to find her husband's mistress, aka, their dogwalker, in her home. Thus begins Nicole's journey to healing, helped along by Logan, a former colleague she hasn't seen in years, but who always lit a spark in her.

Kudos to Okie for taking such a difficult and often heartbreaking topic and making a romance that leaves your heart full. She doesn't shy away from the losses and the trauma; they're part of the story that plays a big part in the actions Nicole takes, but the focus is on the rebuilding and finding joy once again. I loved that even the moments when it felt like Nicole had lost everything still had little moments of light, even when she didn't see them during.

You get to experience pretty much every emotion as you follow Nicole in a journey of discovery that reminds her that she's so much more than her ability to bear a child. The story jumps between the present and significant moments between her and both men in her life, giving you insight into how things end up where they did and fully cementing that Nicole and Logan are perfect for each other. It's a romance full of speed bumps and some dark moments, but it also shows how effective communication and understanding can go a long way towards achieving happiness.

Very happy thanks to NetGalley and Avon for the emotional read!
