I was given an advance copy for review.

For me the book was a one or two star because it's not my favorite genre, but I gave it three because I know there will be an audience for it that will appreciate it more than I did.

Pros: Definitely an intriguing idea for a story. Nice, creepy elements. Her characters are interesting and will appeal to disaffected middle and high school kids, although it deals with pretty heavy issues for that age.

The punks are portrayed realistically, and the author addresses the deep emotions they have. It is historically accurate too, and the author notices details of every day life.

In the beginning I was confused by timeline because the narrator writes like it's a memory part of the time and then like it's happening right then. I also personally didn't connect with the characters.
