Emmeline Chase is a proud graduate of Parasol Academy for Exceptional Nannies and Governesses, an institution with a royal charter not just with the queen of England, but also with the queen of the fae, Good Queen Maeve. You'd think magical abilities and such support would mean Emmeline gets a job easily, but she's having trouble finding a job thanks to her extroverted personality and occasional magical mishaps. When one of those mishaps lands her on the roof of the Duke of St. Lawrence, it's serendipitous that he requires a nanny who can handle his three rambunctious charges. It's a great chance for Emmaline, but she'll also have to manage a possible saboteur, her desperation to help her imprisoned father, and an undeniable attraction that could lead to her losing her nanny license.
I enjoyed the heck out of this one. It's one of those romance books that let you turn off your thinking brain and just enjoy the fun, not becuase it's dumb, but because it's so enjoyable that you don't need to think about it. Emmeline is bright and fun, so you believe that she's capable of doing everything a magical nanny must do to keep her charges safe. Xavier is a perfect example of a misunderstood neurospicy genius who hasn't let the haters bring him down and continues to march to the beat of his own drum. They're so good together. Add the fact that there's also a mystery that puts everyone in danger and involves people closer to them than they thought, and it's one enjoyable page after another.
Delighted thanks to NetGalley and Kensington for the enterining and romantic read!
