“A story for the dreamers.”

Courtney Walsh has quickly become one of my favorite closed-door romance authors. I read and loved “Christmas with a Crank” and “Everything’s Coming Up Rosie” was no different!

I think I appreciated this story even more as a fellow (former) theater kid! Rosie is a bit down on her luck with the New York City theater scene and, long story short, finds herself a job as the director of Cinderella at a small town retirement community theater.

This one is filled with:
✨Small town romance
✨Found family
✨A FMC who finds herself along the way
✨Closed door romance

Thank you to NetGalley, Courtney Walsh, Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio for the chance to read and review this ALC! I did truly enjoy the audiobook, the narrator was fantastic!

I will say, for some reason it was tough for me to view Rosie as an adult.. she felt very juvenile to me, especially in the beginning of the book. As soon as she started to believe in herself, I could see her maturity and growth throughout the book.

Overall, giving this one 3.75/5 ⭐️ (rounding it up to 4!).

Everything’s Coming Up Rosie by Courtney Walsh was such a fun read. Rosie is a hoot. She kept me laughing regardless of her ups and downs. I love story of dreams and goals with the inspiration to make them happen. However they happen. Listened to this gem on audio and would recommend it. Great recommended read if in for a good laugh and inspirational story.
Thank you NetGalley for complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are completely my own.

Rosie Waterman is an actress pursuing her dream out in New York! But, pursuing has felt more like scraping by and feeling like a failure over and over again. When she receives a job offer for a position she has hardly any memory of applying for, due to desperate moments of panic job submissions, she finds herself directing Cinderella, with old people. Without realizing it she accepted to work the summer at a retirement community, this isn’t what she signed up for, at least she didn’t mean to. But when she shows up she meets beautiful Booker Hayes, who seems to oddly enjoy her weirdness. As she discovers her strengths in directing the show, and makes life long friends, she wonders if she maybe should pivot from her usual dream. Could Wisconsin be where her dreams have led her to stay? She could picture forever with this new community and with Booker.
Rosie is quirky and very outwardly weird and awkward, but she is so funny and silly and it is easy to picture her. Booker is literally perfection, allowing Rosie to make her own decisions and he lovingly supports her along the way. Booker accepts Rosie for who she is the whole way through, and they connect immediately. The writing does feel a bit more theatrical than literary, as if it’s meant to play out as a movie rather than a book, but I enjoy it and I enjoy the pace. I do enjoy the narrator a lot, they bring the story to life and you can just connect better with a lot of the phrasing and actions of the characters.

This book was cute. It just lacked a little for me and found it very repetitive. And formulaic. I usually love books like this and just couldn’t get captivated in the characters the way I usually do.
It didn’t help that I didn’t love the narrator.

I received an Advanced Listening Copy of this book. This was such a fun book. I loved the theatre aspect, it reminded me of when I was in theatre in high school. I loved the main character, Rosie, her journey was so heartwarming. I loved the retirement community side characters, they were really fun and added a great dynamic to the story. The love story was cute and sweet as well. The audiobook was great, I enjoyed the narrator, she did a wonderful job.

What a gorgeous book! Being a theatre person myself (who once had big dreams) this book was perfect. Little theatre quotes here and there, plenty of insights and encouragement to work towards your dreams (and accept if your dreams change).
Loved every minute - absolutely gorgeous!
The narrator has a lovely voice that suited Rosie and added to this story being very sweet.

I enjoyed this sweet book of vibrant characters and emotional yet hilarious depth in the characters. Reading about Rosie and her growth is inspiration we can all use. We all experience journeys where we dreamt of one thing and has set expectations and to have our life written was beautiful and expressed on the page where I was living it with Rosie.
Lets be real the main characters light was stolen by the adorable seniors. This is a second book for me where the seniors in the book steal the show.
This is a light hearted fun story if you need a lift, laugh, and a happy tear shed.

ˋ°•*⁀➷ 𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬: small town romance, friends to lovers

so i kinda pulled a rosie and requested bunch of audiobooks with cute covers without even reading the description, so i had no idea what this was about when i started listening, but i am really happy about this. i wasn’t exactly sure about it when i started because i’m not really into theatre and i thought it was gonna be like that kind of romance, where the girl comes home for some reason after a long time and now the guy who hated her sudeenly has a crush one her and blah blah blah. i think i read that on wattpad once.

i feel like the best thing about this book are the characters. like seriously, this were one of the best written characters i’ve ever seen. i am OBSESSED. they just felt like home. it felt like you knew the characters already. it was just so heartwarming.

booker is literally the perfect book boyfriend. like i love him so much. like the fridays were so cute.

ARC/ ALC REVIEW:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Rosie Waterman has been waiting for her acting career to take off. After failing to find success in the Big Apple, she has begun to believe her dreams are too big and her talent too small. Despite being at her lowest, she is unwilling to admit defeat. Will accepting the first job that comes her way turn her luck around, or will she be forced to change direction and give up acting once and for all?

Courtney Walsh didn’t become a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author by accident. With over two dozen projects to her name, she is a staple in the writing community. While her previous work has been worthy of praise, her latest novel, Everything is Coming up Rosie (EICUR) is hands down her best work!

Readers will be able to tell that the subject matter (acting/ theater) in EICUR is near and dear to Walsh’s heart. As a result, it elevated her writing. She draws on real life experiences from her time in and around the theater. Having a real life connection to the performing arts, this isn’t just a passion project, it’s a love letter!

But don’t worry if acting and/ or theater isn’t your passion. Walsh has flushed out her story with well- rounded main and secondary characters. In fact, she does such a phenomenal job, readers will be able to identify with at least one of their unique struggles. I personally related to Rosie’s quarter life crisis and desire to not feel the ‘big emotions’.

Special thanks to Netgalley, Thomas Nelson Fiction, Zondervan Fiction Audio, and Courtney Walsh for allowing me to read and listen to this book in exchange for my honest review.

* I had the pleasure of both reading/ listening to this book. While I enjoyed both formats, I highly recommend listening to this on audio. In fact, Jorjeana Marie did such a stellar job narrating, her voice acting skills brought Walsh’s words to life!

“Sometimes dreams shift and change and grow, and changing along with them isn’t failing.”

All the love for Everything’s Coming Up Rosie! Courtney Walsh brilliantly delivers a beautiful love letter to the theater & acting in this heartfelt, inspirational romance. Having been on the stage a time or two, I eagerly devoured every page of this book. From all the plays & musical references, to the witty banter, ups & downs of putting on a show, & the sweet, slow burn, friends to more romance, I loved every moment.

Rosie Waterman’s dream is to make it big as an actor. She’s lived in New York, auditioned, & put herself out there, without much success. When she returns home after losing her job, she feels like everyone’s grown up, having babies, getting married, getting their dream job except her. After submitting several resumes, she lands a job in Wisconsin directing Cinderella for a recreational theater. Though it’s not her dream, it’s a theater job & she leaps. What she doesn’t realize is that the theater is in a retirement community & all the actors are senior citizens. But, Rosie decides to give it a go & it doesn’t hurt that there’s a handsome, young physical therapist on staff. As she interacts with these wise, delightful new friends, she learns dreams can be reimagined.

I absolutely adored this book! Rosie’s & Booker’s romance was so achingly beautiful. I loved the sizzling attraction between them, their witty banter, & Nonfiction Fridays. Then there’s all the endearing residents of Sunset Hills. I especially loved the gruff Arthur & the special connection he has with Rosie.

This book was such a delight & a favorite of this year. Rosie’s dream & the way she learned & grew will stay with me. I only wished I could have seen the Cinderella production for real. The author captured all those highs & lows of performing & leaving the deepest parts of yourself on stage. It’s a not to miss read especially for anyone who loves the theater.

The audiobook was fantastic! I loved the narrator & the way she voiced all these endearing characters. She put just the right amount of emotion into her performance & it was thoroughly enjoyable.

Highly recommend to inspirational romance fans! I received an advanced copy from the publisher with no expectation of a positive review. My opinions are completely my own & provided voluntarily.

“Quitting something that isn’t working for you isn’t a bad thing.”

Ohh this book was absolutely precious. It had such a good message and really should be read by all early adults if their life happens to be turning out a bit different than they envisioned. This book is hopeful, encouraging, and so super sweet. I just adored it!

The audiobook was fantastic! The narrator was laugh out loud funny at certain parts and really had me wanting to jump inside this story to give Rosie a big hug at others. What a sweet and quotable listen.

The authors note really gives perspective to why this story was written and it just made me love it all the more. I highly recommend you consume this story in whatever way you enjoy!!

Thank you yo Netgalley and Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest thoughts.

I found Everything's Coming Up Rosie to be uplifting and heartwarming. The main character is riddled with self-doubt and concern for her future. Taking a job in a senior community, she develops in so many positive ways! The characters were relatable and memorable. The novel reminds us that perhaps what we thought we wanted, was indeed not what we needed. Uplifting story!

ALC Review: Everything's Coming Up Rosie
Pub Date; June 10
Narrator: Jorjeana Marie

Thank you to Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction Audio for the ALC. All thoughts and opinions are my own and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

As a Wisconsinite who lives about 2 hours from Door County, I was super excited for this book! I love Door County and think it's such a great place for a book to occur. Ultimately, this feels like a book that could have taken place anywhere...there was basically no Wisconsin content or culture whatsoever - not even an "ope"!

I did like the relationship between Rosie and Booker though I do think that storyline was a little dwarfed by some of the other parts of the book like the found family and the play. I loved the found family and the other characters, I thought they brought so much to the story and was my favorite part of the book!

The main thing that really frustrated me about this book is just how immature Rosie is throughout despite her age.. She really doesn't do any character growth until the very very end. The overarching "message" is a bit...basic and made me roll my eyes.

Thank you so much to @courtneywalsh @thomasnelson @zondervan and @netgalley for my #gifted audio ARC of Everything’s Coming Up Rosie. All thoughts and opinions are my own 💗💫

This audiobook was an utter delight 😍 Courtney is a master at writing emotion, relationships of all kinds, and most of all, love. She creates relatable characters you can’t help falling in love with, flaws, quirks, and all, and that could not be truer than in Everything’s Coming Up Rosie.

Rosie dreams of performing onstage in New York, but as rejections mount and bills pile up, she is forced to head home and re-evaluate. Feeling like a failure, she bulk submits her resume to any theater job she has, and as luck would have it, she lands a job in Door County, Wisconsin. She soon learns this job isn’t exactly what she thought it would be, but could it be just what the needs?

This story made me both laugh and cry. While Rosie’s quirkiness was a lot to take in initially, I truly fell in love with her, as well as Booker, Daisy, Connie, Dylan, and Arthur, and narrator @jorjeanamarie_ was wonderful!! Rosie’s relationships with Arthur and Belinda made me teary and touched my heart, and while the romance was a side plot, it made me so happy too!

What I loved most, though, was the lesson that even if your dream doesn’t look the way you thought it might, you’re not a failure. No one has it all figured out, even if they seem like they do, and it’s not a failure to pivot - it’s an opportunity to learn, grow, and possibly find something even greater than you imagined.

Thank you for this gem, and the opportunity to dream, Courtney!

I fell In love with Rosie’s quirky, awkward personality. I love the word vomit that she spews when she’s nervous and the random things she shares. I was not a theater kid, but I would like to think they just break out in song and start acting out scenes randomly.

I also loved the retirement community setting. I get a kick out of the elderly. My daughter volunteers at a nursing home in town I. The summer and I love the stories of the people she’s comes back with . She adores them all and so I could her loving a job like Rosie’s.

Everything’s Coming Up Rosie is a great read about being true to yourself and figuring out what your dreams truly are. Eventide if they may look different than what you originally thought.

Cozy, humorous, and fuel for thought!
I love watching Rosie grow as she waits for her dream. Sometimes we have to go through milestones before we are ready to take on our dreams. It had laugh out moments, but also so many of life's truth sprinkle within.

You're a struggling actress and you're also struggling at life. Not only are you without a job but your roommate kindly leaves you a note saying one of her friends is moving in and you are moving out. She goes to her friends baby shower and everyone has amazing jobs and getting married. Even your school bully is successful and your friends won't stop asking you when your next movie is. This party only made you feel more of a complete failure. Out of desperation you apply to any and all jobs that are remotely close to what you are capable of doing and accidentally get a job that isn't the greatest but it's a job. Then there's a sweet guy.

This is a cute book. I really don't know what I was expecting when I picked this book as my next read but I'm glad I did. I had several books that were disappointing but this was exactly what I needed. It's relatable and the perfect summer read.

Sometimes when the world feels like it's on fire, comfort can be found in the hug of a good book. You know those types— the kinds of books that are warm and fuzzy, featuring lovable side characters, and set in a quaint town riddled with charm. And this is exactly the type of book Courtney Walsh is best at writing. Hers are the ultimate cozy, heartwarming reads, and Everything's Coming Up Rosie is certainly no exception. Once I met the gang, and the small town in which they live, I felt my mind ease almost immediately.
