This book is everything you want to know about Ramen but didn’t know you wanted to. I don’t know many people who don’t like Ramen. I find it interesting that a go to meal can be turned into soups, stews and main meals. This book is a must for anyone who likes to cook at home and try new things.

This book is more in depth than I ever expected it would be! It’s perfect for seasoned ramen lovers wanted to step up their game as well as beginners wanting to try something different. Visual learners will appreciate all the charts! So handy! I loved the wheel chart that showed the different ingredients and toppings by flavor profile. I personally would have appreciated having photos for every recipe. I think this would make a fantastic gift and if I remember, I will definitely buy a copy for my son.

Okay but this book is super cool. The first half of the book is explaining the intricacies of ramen and it's history. It explains how it came to be and how it's traditionally eaten. It even breaks down the flavors and ingredients that come in the packets of instant ramen and how and why they are used. I love how the book has a modern infographic feel to it through out. But, my favorite thing is the unconventional recipes in the back that give you a completely different twist on making ramen. I actually want to try them when I can. Especially the way they made mac and cheese out of it with only 3 ingredients. Very cool book!

I loved this cookbook! When I saw it on netgalley, I immediately knew I needed to read it. It definitely exceeded my expectations, I loved that the author gave us the history on ramen. Throughout this cookbook Peter Kim has demonstrated his passion for Ramen. I am always looking for ways to upgrade my ramen packs and this cookbook has given me so many recipes/ideas that I can not wait to try. A problem I find with cookbooks is that I often think I could find the same recipes on Pinterest but I did not feel like that with this one. I will definitely make sure to pick this up when it's published.

Fantastic recipes, hands down would recommend for any Ramen enthusiasts!

THIS IS PEAK FORMATTING FOR A COOKBOOK. I repeat- THIS IS PEAK FORMATTING FOR A COOKBOOK.
I cannot stress that enough. The way the information is broken down into two parts allows for a clearer understanding of the information. The way tools, methods, and ingredients listed are not only visually and aesthetically pleasing, but so easy to understand utilizing the use of bold text, and numbers within text to show steps.

In the first part, Kim asks that you use this cookbook as a guide to learn methods and common ingredients instead of strictly following the recipes. He explains how this approach will better improve your cooking skills. Exploration and experimentation are fun and encouraged in the kitchen- I love it! This is exactly how my partner and I use cookbooks. Not only will I push to purchase this at my library but I will also purchase the print book. This book is a tool- plain and simple.

I loved this cookbook. It has a lot of information about the ramin story. The recipes seem easy to follow also.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for a review copy.

I am liking Peter J. Kim's "Instant Ramen Kitchen." The introduction section goes a bit too long but I found it worth the read as it grounds the purpose of the book. I do like that the author doesn't go straight to the recipes but rather, takes time to explain the different ramen style and prep work that can make the dish unique and more filling. By the time I got to the recipes, I knew I wanted to get this book.

I now have it on my wish list to get when it releases in September. I'm a Sapporo Ichiban afficionado myself but with this book, I think I could expand my instant ramen tastes. Well done, easy to read and I think it goes the extra mile.

Instant Ramen Kitchen by Peter J. Kim is an absolute revelation, especially for someone like me who's been relying on packaged ramen since high school. I picked it up hoping to simply elevate my ramen game and perhaps save a few bucks on takeout, but this book delivered far beyond my expectations. It's not just a collection of recipes; it's a comprehensive instruction manual for crafting your own ramen masterpieces. The level of detail and the inclusion of helpful charts make it feel like it was penned by a seasoned instructor, yet it remains incredibly easy to follow. The stunning, appetizing photographs are a huge bonus. This would be the perfect gift for any ramen enthusiast or a high school graduate looking to survive college culinary adventures. It's definitely on my list to purchase the moment it's released!

As a fan of those cheap, plain ramen packs, this cookbook has me amped to up my Ramen game. That said, I use the term cookbook very lightly. If you are looking for a cookbook where you can flip through page after page of ramen recipes that start off with one of those instant packs, this is not the book for you. The first 148 pages read like a textbook of Ramen Science. If you are a foodie who loves learning more about the why behind how recipes work, this is for you. For someone like me who wants beautiful photography, page after page of recipes and inspiration, this may not be what you are looking for. There are recipes in there, but the pictures are lacking, and half of the book is a waste for my cookbook shelf.

This book is AMAZING. I'm going to need a physical copy for my kitchen when this comes out. The recipes are simple to follow, use readily available ingredients, and all sound delicious. I love all the tips and swap suggestions too at the bottom of easy recipe. It makes the dishes even more attainable! This will be great to have around for those nights when I want something tasty but don't want to spend too long in the kitchen. 10/10 would recommend this book. This would also make a great gift for any Ramen lovers in your life too.

This book has so much heart and is one of the best ramen books I've read. The author's culinary expertise, creativity, and personal connection provides a strong and reliable voice that is evident throughout. The first part of the book provides the tools and techniques to make your own ramen based creations. (This section inspired me to stop reading and make my own steaming bowl of delicious ramen.) The second half of the book includes the author's own ramen recipes, ranging from traditional soup ramen to other creative adaptations, such as cacio e Pepe, Thai green curry, and beef stroganoff ramen. The info-graphics and recipes for dumplings, cold noodle soup (naengmyeon), and army stew (budae jjigae) were hidden gems. I can't wait to see this book on the shelves in the Fall! My sincere thanks to #NetGalley, Chronicle Books, and the author for the opportunity to review an advanced reader copy.

So so so much more than a ramen cookbook! It’s a history of ramen that was so interesting before the recipes even started. Very cool book.

Ok this book is amazing. I need this in my kitchen STAT.

Confession? I never stopped loving instant ramen. I did stop buying it. There’s a certain sense that comes with graduating college and getting a job that you are above instant ramen. It’s too cheap, too juvenile, for an adult meal.

The joy I have, with an excuse to buy it again? Priceless.

I truly love everything about this. The history? The photos? The illustrations? It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I just adore the diagrams here (a salinity chat and a ramen flavor wheel? Incredible).

The care and attention the author put into this collection of fantastic recipes, information, and fun facts is so felt. I seriously can’t wait to have a physical copy and will be using this ARC in the meantime to give fancy instant ramen upgrades a try.

This is a very informative and well drawn out book, even incorporating vivid charts and photographs. The recipes however, go beyond your typical fancy fridge ramen and it is so refreshing! It even elaborates on different regional ramen. My review for this book is short, but I am already adding this one to my "must purchase" lists for home and for my library. I've already recommended it to a few friends as well.

A fascinating and incredibly detailed guide to delicious ramen. I loved how this incorporated recipes and some general helpful cooking tips along with a bit of ramen history.

I am going to buy this book for myself. And gift copies to people. And, obviously, tell folks about it.

What a fun and informative book! The graphics are lovely too but the real draw for me is the invitation to not just try the recipes in the book, but also riff off them. I love when cookbooks expand past "I made this recipe because it was convenient / my grandma made it / I had to copy some other recipe I couldn't just ask for". The author talks about where the inspiration for the recipe comes from, talks about substitutions, and talks about the thought process behind the substitutions. I love it. Anybody who likes a variety of quick affordable food will, too.

This was such a FUN cookbook! There are a few recipes in the back, and much of the front-matter discusses the history of instant ramen, the various sizes, flavor profiles, and how to build a ramen bowl. It has fun colors, great illustrations, and good recipes. It even has a flow chart for what recipe you should try first!

I will definitely be trying a few recipes--after all, who doesn't love ramen? It offers just about infinite possibilities and takes great care to show why and how instant ramen should be received as a staple turned luxury.
