Celia loves her older brother so much that when he declares he's leaving the family to be free to be himself, she accidentally curses him to a life without love. It's her first act as a sorceress, and she's determined to fix it before she's forced to marry the kingdom's prince. As she tries to figure out how to solve it, she starts spending time with the brother everyone ignored, forging a supportive and loving relationship that just might be the key to saving everyone when the marriage doesn't work out as planned.

I love Novik's writing, so I think she would have to consciously set out to write a bad book for me not to love it. She has a way of quickly introducing the reader to magical worlds that make perfect sense, as if you've lived in them your whole life and everything that happens is perfectly normal. She also does a great job of getting you to care about the characters, even giving villains fully rounded characters so that you end up seeing their point of view and understanding them.

A quick, thought-provoking read full of emotions that left me wanting to explore the world further.

Delighted thanks to NetGalley and Del Rey for the magical read!
