I am amazed to see this described as 'laugh out loud funny' ... I would not have know from reading it. . While the main character, Veblen, was interesting enough with her quirky ways, nothing else appealed to me, and sorry to say I gave up about a third of the way in.

There was a lot I liked about this book but at times was left feeling incredulous. It should have been a comedy but at times was very sad.. Difficult book to attach to.

quirky and fun read - would recommend this - different from what i usually read

I didn't quite engage with this novel. Veblen felt a little lackluster as a character and I felt like I was supposed to find her funny in a way that almost felt offensive. Her husband was also very uncompelling and since this book was kind of a character study in a way, I felt like the whole novel felt distant to me.
