Rae Jensen finally managed to walk into a BDSM club and live out her dream of being a saucy Sub for one night and forget all her responsibilities with a ridiculously hot, brooding Dom. She scratched that itch and is ready to welcome the consultant who is going to do some super-secret project at her new office. Except when she arrives at the address of the new office, it's in the same building as the club, and Grant Bowman, the consultant, happens to be the Dom she just played with. Grant likes things ordered, with no connections and clearly stated terms, so Rae's bright and chaotic personality should drive him up the wall, but it's instead tearing down all his walls.
I loved everything about this book. The character growth is phenomenal. The plot makes sense from beginning to end. And it's just so emotionally satisfying to read a romance where both the FMC and MMC know what they want and are willing to put in the effort to get it. Getting the story from just Rae's or Grant's perspective would have been fun and satisfying, but I loved how well Anders jumps from one character to the other within a scene to give you the full outlook of what's happening in everyone's minds and hearts.
It also feels important to point out that Dom/Sub play is very low-key, so anyone afraid to pick it up because of that, there's no pain or abuse, just consensual fun and care.
Delighted thanks to NetGalley and Forever for the emotionally perfect romance read!
