A fast paced follow up to Sandra vos book 1 which I read and enjoyed previously. Sandra is a hostage negotiator for the FBI , trained to talk people down from dangerous situations. In this book she has her work cut out as several people take a whole hospital hostage and communication with them proves extremely difficult.
As Sandra works on a peaceful outcome and her colleagues try to work out motive and identity of the armed gunmen and women, patients’ lives are put at risk, particularly a young child awaiting life saving surgery.
I enjoyed the way that the author described the characters caught up in the siege and laid out their lives to really bring them to life.
Sandra used her skills to great effect even though she had her own personal worries to contend with. Each case seems to bring back memories of her brother whom she lost in similar circumstances which is why she is so committed to a swift and peaceful outcome where no one is hurt.
I liked the strong female characters in this book and will definitely be looking to read further additions to the series
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my advance copy.
