Assassins Anonymous isn't just a meeting for reformed killers, it's a family that supports each other. So when a member needs to leave town for a few days, the others volunteer to babysit her daughter. But a ghost from the past and a panicked ER visit in the middle of the night make things ever more dangerous, everyone's vow to leave their past lives behind will be tested.

I love this series, and each new book adds to it. Mark and Astrid are the perfect characters to highlight how difficult drastically changing your life can be when not only are you known and hunted for it, but you also enjoy certain parts of it. The AA group is a perfectly dysfunctional found family that helps heal and support each other, even when a simple babysitting job turns into a citywide manhunt.
Every emotion possible is explored over the course of the story. I laughed. I cried. I cheered when the net gun worked. So many things are happening, yet nothing ever feels rushed or forgotten. We also get to meet new characters who show how much familiar characters have grown, which makes the very difficult decisions they're faced with feel even more monumental.
And extra props to Hart for making me like a story centered around a little kid when I usually avoid them because I find the kid annoying. Lucia is adorable, and I agree with all the former assassins that she should be protected at all costs.
