I think that the book’s strongest points were the plot, character development and world-building. The magic system was adequate. There were, however, several elements that brought me out of the story. I did not like the romance parts and I skipped over any prophecy. I also thought there was too much inner voice. These are my personal preferences and I suspect that many readers will love the parts I didn’t. And even though I skipped the prophecy, I was able to understand the rest of the book and didn’t feel the need to go back. Despite what I consider shortcomings, I still enjoyed the book and felt that it was a worthwhile read. Thank you to Netgalley and Troubador Publishing for the advance reader copy.
