I had such high hopes for this book, I think that's why I've avoided reviewing. I was so excited to read this book as it was compared to books by some of my favorite authors. There was nothing that hooked me in this book, it jumped around left me frustrated. I'm sorry, I really, really wanted to like it.

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity.

Another gripping family drama from Susan Lewis, this was a compelling and emotionally charged book that tells the story of a mother's love and what that love means when tragedy strikes.
Jules and Kian have a great marriage, are the owners of a successful pub, have a ton of loving family and friends, but the only thing that they struggle with is having a child. That dream finally comes true and Daisy completes their happy family. Life is perfect.
Amelia is an odd child, who seemingly murders her mother at a young age with no consequence. She doesn't know how to normally interact with other children and adults and is coddled by her wealthy, yet uncaring father.
Amelia and Daisy lives intersect early on, but it's not until they are teenagers that they strike up an unlikely friendship. Most of Daisy's other friends and Jules herself are hesitant about the friendship, but Daisy has a good heart and looks past Amelia's shortcomings. Ultimately that winds up becoming a mistake and Amelia (along with a friend of Daisy) is charged with her brutal murder. They are both sent to prison, but Amelia gets off with an easy sentence.
What happens next is the telling of what one family will do to avenge their child after Amelia is released from prison early. A drama filled and emotional story focused on how to find peace after an unspeakable tragedy, Susan Lewis writes a book that had me hooked from beginning to end.
