Restaurant owner Daniel Matthews is targeted - there is a body found in one of his restaurants and the fire by arson the other one. He accepts the help of the bodyguard Katie Singleton reluctantly, but there is an obvious need for help in his situation. And the romantic tension between them is obvious, too.

This is a part of the Elite Guardians series, but the novel can be read as a standalone novel.

I have had some trouble to get into this novel - it feels prolonged to me, and I miss some of Ms Eason´s signature action here. The villain is also not that believable.
But I like the concept of elite female guardians helping men (but these men are no pushovers, don´t be mistaken!). And I also like sassy Riley, Daniel´s teenaged niece, who is very wise for her years, and her own budding romance. I also like her strong faith in the face of the adversities.

Fingers crossed for the next one in the series!

You know when a book can sort've creep you out? That's what Without Warning did to me. But in a good way, if that makes any sense ;)

I picked up this book without knowing much about the Elite Guardians (I hadn't read the first book in the series) but I couldn't pass up the chance of reading again from one of my favorite authors. Lynette Eason has such a way with mystery and suspense that it's hard to pass on any of her books.

In Without Warning, Eason takes readers on a journey of mystery, faith, and romance. And to give the novel some thrilling spice there was a level of creepiness poured into the mix, as well. Something that had me a little on edge - since I mostly read this at night - but I think that's what kept me reading. I couldn't flip the pages fast enough as the leading characters embarked on their journey of intrigue.

Although I didn't get into this book as much as I hoped I would, I still enjoyed it and look forward to reading the Elite Guardian series in full.

This book was just as great as the first book in this Elite Guardian series! “Without Warning” is book 2 of 4 total books in author Lynette Easons’s new series.

The Elite Guardians make up a group of highly skilled women who are privately hired to protect others. In this book, Katie is hired by the niece of Daniel Matthews, the owner of a couple local restaurants. Because the niece is a friend of Katie, she takes a personal interest in Daniel’s cases. From murder to arson, no one really knows why Daniel is being targeted but the Elite Guardians and other people working his case keep getting hurt as the danger escalates.

This clean novel was very well written, fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat. I read it all in one day because I couldn’t put it down! I can’t wait to read books 3 and 4 that will be released in 2017.

Bestselling author Lynette Eason continues her romantic suspense series featuring a female-owned agency of female bodyguards.

In Without Warning, Katie Singleton teaches self-defense to Daniel Matthew’s teenage niece, Riley. When she is driving by a favorite restaurant, she notices police cars and stops to see what is happening. Arson is suspected, and then the murder of a former employee is discovered. Is the restaurant owner Daniel at fault or is someone framing him for the events happening at his restaurants? Riley hires Katie to investigate who is behind the threats and the attack on him. Who is behind the attacks and why? Can they figure it out before someone else is killed?

As always, Eason is a superb storyteller, weaving plot twists with her development of complex characters. The action is fast-paced, keeping the reader on the edge-of-their-seat (and turning the pages!) until the very end. The clean romance develops at a realistic pace, and faith elements are present but not overpowering. Issues such as PSTD and questioning one’s faith are expressed. Violence in the story is appropriate but not too graphic. The identity and motive of the “villain” will surprise the reader. Every time one thinks it is figured out, Eason throws in another twist.

"I don't know what God was doing when He put us all together . . ." (187)

Well, contrary to what the title suggests, I will give you a warning about Without Warning by Lynette Eason. You will NOT want to put this down. I fell in love with the Elite Guardian series since Always Watching. And due to a crazy schedule and a mix up, I didn't get the chance to read this until Christmas time, during my break. It was definitely a highlight.

Katie had always struck me as tough and filled with assurance. She is just that but with a little more grit mixed with sensitivity. Her care for Riley, Daniel's (her client) niece was endearing. And let me sidetrack her from our main couple and say, if there's a favorite supporting character for a story, I'd choose Riley. She'd animated, a teen with an "old soul" that's protective and alert. She was a pleasant surprise, since I'm more for the little kid sidekicks in stories. OK, back to Katie and Daniel. Daniel, former marine and a great man. Honorable and righteous, he's a great boss, cares for others and finds ways to be supportive of his family, friends and staff. Now, that my friends makes a great book boyfriend. However, though the romance was great (Kate and Daniel are perfect for each other), I continue to love the dynamics of the Elite Guardians Agency the most. They protect and they love. They love God, each other and people, in general. Their friendship is key and glue to all the Elite Guardians novels. They each have a past, and Katie is no different. When Katie realize what is at stake, she needs to find courage to trust God and herself.

Action packed, suspenseful, romantic in more ways than one and message to "trust, despite" makes for one thrilling and non-stop read. A story that's not only a story, but able to learn character building from, just perfect.

Lucky for me, Moving Target is out next very soon!

"Without Warning" is the second book in Lynette Eason's Elite Guardians series and it is fast-paced and one that will keep you turning the pages all the way to the end and leave you wanting more! Daniel has no idea why he is being targeted but he is apparently a target when he finds a former employee hanging in the basement of his restaurant and then soon after another one of his restaurants is going up in flames as a result of arson. Daniel's niece seeks out the help from her self-defense instructor and friend Katie whom is part of the Elite Guardians group as Daniel is the only family she has left and her guardian. As Katie and the rest of her team become involved in the case they find themselves scrambling to uncover whom is targeting Daniel and why as they and others become in the line of fire as well.

I am a huge fan of Lynette's books and this was another winner from her! I always find myself staying up way to late reading as it is impossible to stop in the midst of the action and chaos without knowing that the characters are fine and who is behind the incidents. I was thrilled that this one came out so soon after book #1 and now I am anxiously awaiting book #3!

I will pretty much read anything written by this author. She has the ability to put me right into whatever mystery and I enjoy trying to figure out "who dunnit" . This story is about Katie and Daniel, Daniel being a restaurant owner who recently found his chef dead in the basement of his restaurant. Daniel's niece gets scared and calls an instructor pf her self defense class, whom is also part of a security agency (Katie) . So Katie takes the case and meanwhile other locations of Daniel's restaurant become targeted... Each chapter is so thrilling, it kept me on the edge of my seat and I did not want to put the book down. The chemistry written for Katie and Daniel is also electric! You can't help but root for them to get together... all around great story!
