I really enjoyed reading this book. I think ladies need to realize that they are not alone. Even the ladies in the Bible had their own problems they had to deal with. Thanks for the ARC!

I sincerely loved her first book, "Bad Girls of the Bible". The theology was solid and backed by Bible verses and citation of other sources, her insights were penetrating and her honesty about her background was refreshing and a relief. We don't have to be perfect for God to accept us and love us. Thank goodness, or we would all be sunk! I have gifted her first book to others, insisting that they read it.

So, needless to say, I had VERY high expectations when I started this, and at first, I wasn't feeling the modern-day retelling of the Biblical stories. They weren't clicking with me. So this book sat. And sat. And sat, very neglected. Then, Lent and a snow day happened, so I picked it back up.

And couldn't put it back down. I was crying, I was laughing, I was smiling like a loon when I finished this book in one sitting. In short, I need to re-read this book again. I think I may have read the beginning in the wrong frame of mind!

The BEST part of this book is that there was citation and when she dove into the Scripture, she went DEEP. It had authority behind it. At least, to me it felt that way. I needed that right now.

Final verdict? Five stars, all the way! I would recommend the book before this one first, but it isn't necessary to understand or follow this one. It is most definitely Christian, so may not be for everyone, but it would be good for a women's Bible study, or for someone interested in the not-so perfect women in the Bible.

My thanks to NetGalley and WaterBrook Multnomah for an eARC copy of this book to read and review.
