This book takes place in Argentina in the 1970's. The Ferraro family, returning from a family vacation become the victims of a military coup. The father Osvaldo flees to Europe as some of his friends "disappear" overnight and he fears for his life. His daughter's fiancé is abducted and his daughter Graciela who is pregnant goes into hiding until she and her friends are taken from their apartment against their will. All the while the mother Yolanda is doing all she can to find her daughter. This is a powerful portrayal of political unrest in 1970's Argentina-a country where the military and Junta have taken over the government and staged coups tearing families apart and "making" resistors disappear. A good study f another horrible time in history that many people either were unaware of or closed their eyes to. Good but disturbing read.
