Beautiful, three-dimensional papercut artwork. Traditional story of Jesus' birth told for the pre-K set in clever rhyme. Despite a few deviations from (and embellishments to) the actual biblical account, it's well done--a picture book that will be enjoyed over and over again. Four stars.

This was a sweet little Christmas story about Mary, and Jesus being born. It doesn't really go into depth about the biblical story, but it doesn't really need to because it is intended for such a young audience. The children, I'm sure will love being read this story at a young age with it's sing-song and rhyming type of writing. Once they can read, I imagine they will pull it out of the stack of Christmas books to read on their own. I remember loving reading books like this when I was little at Christmastime, so I can see that this one would make little ones very happy. The illustrations are very unique compared to other picture books that I usually read. The pictures are a collage of paper shapes that make the characters and scenery. There is other material used in the collage pictures to make it look three dimensional almost. I would definitely recommend this book for families with young children, and maybe even preschool and kindergarten classrooms.

This was a different way of telling the traditional nativity story. It was a little bit quirky with the way that the images are set out but I can see that this could very easily be a book that is read every Christmas whilst children are young. A lovely little read.
