Description

Hillary Clinton’s 2016 loss to Donald Trump was one of the most shocking defeats in American political history. Polls predicted a Clinton landslide. Even Trump’s own party leaders withdrew their endorsements.

In Why Hillary Lost, political strategist Arvin Vohra illuminates the cultural changes and strategic considerations that led to the shocking results. He examines how changes in cultural outreach strategy and political expectations, coupled with critical campaign blunders, caused one of the biggest upsets in American electoral history.

Political strategists will find the insights in Why Hillary Lost useful in managing campaigns in America’s increasingly chaotic political landscape. Why Hillary Lost will help other readers better understand one of the most unexpected election results in the last century.

The book's written by Vice chair of Libertarian National Committee and I had a feeling of getting a neutral view of the things that happened. The first 35% of the book is very sensible, logical regarding the economic perception, bigotry issues, LGBTQ long unsolved struggles and many more. After exploring more and more topics and factors, I felt the author's getting too hard on Hillary, little pedantic in words which isn't neutral I guess.

At the very start of the book, the author said that it's about why Hillary lost and not about How Trump won but the book has many aspects and circumstances which Trump Utilised. And then came the topic of Locker room tape and the author's overwordy justifications on the action of Trump which I felt biased when the vulgarity scale was set 1 out of 10. I got to know that locker room talks are typically filled with sexual vulgarity but the author spent redundant time in convincing. Some opinions are structured by hindsight which I felt after the locker room part. At the end of reading the book, I got a mixed feeling of learning and resentment.

I thank Netgalley for a free copy of this book in exchange for my opinion.
