I have always liked all the books of Phoebe & her unicorn Marigold I have read, but I dunno why, this one has been so far my favorite. Their stories have beem kept short, around one page or so, and have explored different topics, such as halloween, school, exams, bullying, magic pets, game of thrones and harry potter, homework and so on. I have found that the stories have much more wit and sarcasm, and can be enjoyed as much for adults as for kids, and there are lots of geeky comments and references to be found along the lecture (and in details such as a "firefly2 t-shirst, for instance! :))

I would recommend it to anyone who likes unicorns, short stories and comics :)

This series is just so incredibly fun and entertaining. Love them!

These books are just so fun. I have to read the new one the minute I am allowed. And this year I will read the first three. I like this cartoon because it is wholesome and fun. It has its funny moments but it doesn’t need to make fun of anyone but itself for those moments. This time around we have some missing book reports, lots of reading, and a hard time finding a Halloween costume. Keep them coming, and I will keep reading.

Phoebe and her unicorn are back with all of the insightful charismatic humor we have come to love and expect from this series. I hate to play favorites but Unicorn Crossing is my absolute favorite! My ten year old son has been a fan from the very first book and this is one of our favorite graphic novel series.

the books in the Heavenly Nostrils series - centring around Phoebe and Her Unicorn - are always so much fun, so when I saw Unicorn Crossing on NetGalley I knew I just had to read it (even though I still have #3 & #4 on hold at my library I decide I would go ahead and read it anyway because who doesn't need some more adventures with Phoebe & Marigold Heavenly Nostrils in their lives)

as expected this was a such a fun & marvellous read, and if you haven't read it yet I do encourage you to pick it up - this is a fabulous read for middle graders but it can also be enjoyed by anyone of all ages

As delightful as the previous books in the series. I always look forward to getting to spend time with Phoebe and her unicorn and enjoying their humor, curiosity, and friendship.

Phoebe and her unicorn friend Marigold Heavenly Nostrils are back in this fun romp, the fifth in the series. As Phoebe deals with vacations, school, and frenemies, Marigold is by her side, helping Phoebe with problems and admiring her own beauty. Simpson has a gift for making day to day life funny and fantastical, and this graphic novel series is recommended for any young reader.

My first graphic novel/comic since childhood, it's funny, entertaining and I recommend it to all

Several friends and aquaintances had mentioned this children's graphic series to me and I recently relented and picked up the first book, Phoebe and Her Unicorn, and immediately jumped on receiving an advanced copy of the most recent installment (as of this writing, there are five in the series). Phoebe is a fourth grader and these books are written for children around that age. However, like Calvin and Hobbes, these collections of shorter strips have much wider appeal. If you are a fan of comic strips, or have a young person in your life, gallop to the bookstore and pick up any of the adventures of Phoebe and her unicorn, Marigold Heavenly Nostrils (and then adopt a unicorn name of your own)!

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thanks!

Another great one by Dana Simpson. Engaging and funny as always. As an adult I love it, and my 7-year old daughter loves this series as well.

This was such a fun read. I finished it in an hour; so unputdownable. The art was so cute and the stories were interesting. I know it's supposed to be targeted to children, but I liked it too.

Another collection of my favorite comic strip, featuring the friendship of a precocious nine-year-old girl and a unicorn who thinks far too highly of herself (that might have been redundant).
Right away it starts on Halloween: costumes, pumpkins, and a secret party Marigold is planning. More importantly, it guarantees an appearance by my fave character, Todd the Candy Dragon.
There’s also a beautiful plot where Marigold goes off to a unicorn spa with her sister in that magical place known as Canada, and Phoebe finds it hard to cope without her. Though these jokes do not lean heavily on the pun side, they did prove to be my favorites this time, such as “Unioncorn!” and the especially awesome “Thrones of Ermagard.”
More than anything else I love how big the panels are; each page features one full-color four-panel strip, two panels in two rows. There’s also a glossary at the end, since Phoebe’s vocabulary is a bit higher than her grade level.
Like the previous entries, this book proves why I start every morning with this strip.
4.5 pushed up to 5/5

Please follow me on my blog :) Review originally posted on Vellum Voyages (www.vellumvoyages.com)

Where do I get myself a unicorn? I want one! What a great marriage of old fashioned whimsy (Matilda the Unicorn) meets modern day nine year old (Phoebe). I haven’t read any Phoebe and the Unicorn comics before but this certainly won’t be my last! I need to read the backlist asap!

This just made me long for my childhood days! God I miss being a kid….I was transported back to my childhood and the simple life for a few hours and I just feel so REFRESHED and HAPPY after reading this. Dana Simpson captures the purity and simpleness of being a kid with a great blend of magic, modern day humour and every little girl’s (and big! C’mon we all secretly or not so secretly want a unicorn!) wish of owning a unicorn!

Oh and the glossary at the end is just great! I was thinking oooh I wouldn’t know some of these words if I was a kid but the glossary was perfect! What a great way to secretly inject some words into your little one’s vocabulary while having fun?!! Well played Dana Simpson!

P.S Matilda is sooo pweettyyy

*Thank-you Dana Simpson, Netgalley & Andrews McMeel Publishing for the ARC.

This was pretty much my dream when I was a kid, a pet unicorn. I loved the seasonal adventures, geeky parents, and sweet and simple artwork.

This was adorable and fun. This is my first Phoebe and Marigold volume, but I will definitely be picking up the rest. I loved it! It was both whimsical and sarcastic.

My 9-year-old daughter and I both LOVE this series. I felt this one was a little more disjointed than the others, but I still very much enjoyed it.

Both adorable and witty, the story is very uplifting!

I've heard about this series on several podcasts and at least a few blogs and there was a general amount of squee-age involved with every review. And now I know why.
The unicorn, Marigold, and her human friend Phoebe go through a lot in this book. Halloween, winter, reading books (discussion of ebook vs. physical vs. scroll), Marigold going on a trip, and many other adventures. It's fast, it's fun, it even imparts some moral lessons. A good read.

Four and a half stars

I will forever love Phoebe and Marigold. This collection has all of the usual suspects: Dakota and Blaart the goblin, Max and Todd the candy dragon, and naturally her parents, all up to their usual tricks. Her dad, especially, is still my #parentinggoals. My favorite strip, of course, is this one: http://www.gocomics.com/phoebe-and-her-unicorn/2015/07/23 of which I definitely need a blown-up poster of the third panel for my office at the library. (Also, LOVED the shout-out to "Firefly" on her dad's t-shirt that one time he was grilling!)

After reading the previous volumes I couldn't wait to get my hands onto this one and it did not disappoint. Hilarious and lovely in equal measures, all the small stories are so addictive that I couldn't help myself and had to read everything in one go instead of pacing myself and enjoying it over a longer time. But I have no regrets and rereading is just as much fun as reading it for the first time...

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with so many good laughs again. Definite recommendation.

As always, laugh aloud funny. Read in public and you will be getting sideway glances from strangers.

This series gets better with each volume. Clever, funny, and filled with nods to nerd culture. It's well drawn and has a quirky outlook on life. THe only thing I would change would be to give each book a cohesive plot rather than a random collection.

I really enjoy this series, I have not even read the first few but you can pretty much pick this up at any point and laugh-out-loud at the crazy things this girl and her unicorn do.

Phoebe is a little girl, who as you might have noticed, has a friend unicorn. They are together almost all of the time and their dialogue is witty and off-kilter and wonderful to read. Some of the panels are stand alone ones, while others take a few for longer more in depth tales.

What makes this so funny is Marigold is so self-centered but Pheobe doesn't care and is used to her remarks about beauty and the wonderful unicorn world we humans don't get to see. Their friendship is silly, understanding, and full of fun times.

My daughter and son both love to read these books. Comic books were never my thing but with my kids so into them I've given them another chance. This series is quite entertaining. I especially love the glossary.

This series hasn't hit a sour note yet. Still hilarious, and the addition of great side characters keeps my interest and makes each book memorable.

I received a digital copy of this book from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Unicorn Crossing is the fifth book in the Phoebe and her Unicorn Adventure series by Dana Simpson. My three girls- especially my oldest- are big fans of this comic, so I was very excited about the opportunity to share this with them.

Phoebe is a fairly average girl, with one notable exception: her pet unicorn Marigold. Phoebe and Marigold navigate a fairly typical American childhood with a good sense of humor. This dynamic duo experiences seasons, holidays, school, friendship, and more. A fairly small ensemble rounds out the cast: Phoebe’s parents, her friend Max, and her frenemy Dakota. There are plenty of pop culture references, with a notable geeky slant.

There are a number of storylines in this comic collection, and there is also a punchline in the last panel of every page. Simpson’s artistic style is fun and quirky, and this adds to the charm of the series.

My girls absolutely loved reading this book. In fact, we purchased our own copy after the time elapsed on my review copy. It fits in nicely with our collection of other Phoebe books. My oldest daughter insisted on reading the comic out loud to me so she could share her favorite parts.

I would absolutely recommend Unicorn Crossing to fans of all ages who enjoy comic series like Calvin & Hobbes and Foxtrot. Because this is a comic collection, you don’t have to read the other Phoebe and Her Unicorn books first. Of course, you’re going to want to read more about Phoebe and Marigold after you read this one! As a parent, I appreciate that Simpson uses a sophisticated vocabulary, and even includes a glossary to help younger readers with unfamiliar words that they encounter in the text. We are already looking forward to the next adventure, and we can’t wait to see what Phoebe and Marigold are going to do next!

Another awesome adventure with these two that's just as much fun s he rest of the series.
