Description

Saffron’s resolve will be tested as the fate of a kingdom hangs in the balance.

Young Dragon Rider Saffron and her faithful comrade, the rightful king Bower, have survived their first battle, but the war for Torvald is far from over. She warns the scholarly prince they must take action and adapt for the sake of their people, while their enemy—and her relative—King Enric waits in the wings. The powerful mage knows orphaned Saffron wishes for a family above all, and his offer to make her his heir may be too tempting to refuse.

As both dragons and Riders struggle to return to the ways of old, from before the land fell into darkness, the evil king undermines their every move with spies and sabotage. Bower knows their efforts are doomed without a final assault against the palace, but Saffron has doubts. Risking everything in a single attack isn’t what concerns her—it’s what victory may mean.

She knows she must overcome her Maddox nature to save her people. Toppling the ruthless Enric means an end to one deadly threat, but will she be able to resist the temptation to use her wild magic to seize power for herself?

Saffron’s resolve will be tested as the fate of a kingdom hangs in the balance.

Young Dragon Rider Saffron and her faithful comrade, the rightful king Bower, have survived their first battle, but...

This novel was a good read for the conclusion of the trilogy. You need to read the first two novels in the series to understand the story plot. The two main characters alternate first person point of views. This story continues with magic, action, and adventure.
Saffron and Bower have escaped from the battle against King Enric, Saffron's uncle. They go into the mountains to their allies and plan to seek assistance from other tribes in the mountains to defeat the false king. Saffron has terrible nightmares and Enric is able to access those night terrors. He uses evil magic to try and stop Saffron and Bower. Bower is the true dragon-king and can communicate with dragons. Bower has grown much through the three novels from a timid boy to a boy who would be king. He has a sense of right and justice. Jaydra is still Saffron's dragon sister. They both begin to train other possible dragon riders to bring the ceremony back where dragons choose their riders. Saffron and Bower still have many trials they both need to face, including those within their allies. They both have something to prove. Saffron wants to prove she is not like her uncle and use her magic to help others, but first she needs to control her abilities. When she feels the evil, she loses her connection to Jaydra. Bower needs to prove he can handle the responsibilities of being a leader. They plan to attack Enric, but there is a betrayer among them. Will Saffron be able to destroy her uncle and not let her magic destroy her? Will bower be able to make their allies all work together to stop the false king? Read the conclusion to the trilogy to find out!!
