Genre:  Romance, Sci-fi and fantasy

Vampires and romance....a good hook for me. 
Trouble is there's so many different styles of romance, whether paranormal or not and for me this was a style that doesn't really work for me. 
If you like Celia Kyle, T.S.Joyce, Bella Forest then this book may well appeal to you. they're all popular authors whose write what I think of as light and fluffy paranormal reads, where the story is mainly the romance, but with a little back-plot  and excitement underlying it. For me though books need to have a little more substance, a bit extra to hold my interest. 

Its a perfectly well written book, a story that adds up, some fun plots and the usual secrets that creep out. 
Its just that for me its all a bit too simplistic, too easy to read with everything falling into place so easily, when I need something a little more edgy, angsty, problems that the characters have to work really hard to overcome. 
I need to feel there's a real chance the characters romance won't survive the pressures put on it, that the problems they have, the dangers they face may all be just too much.  

There's nothing I really dislike about this book, just nothing that would want me to keep it, re-read it either. 

Stars: Three, a fun read but I need a bit extra.

I received Carrie Pulkinen's book Reawakened from Net Galley to review. This book was published by Wild Rose Press, Inc. 
Honestly when I started reading this book it seemed to be giving off a "Twilight-esque" feel. Lucky for me I enjoyed the Twilight Series. Once the book got going however, I could feel the world that Carrie was trying to create. Fairies, Vamps, Shapeshifters, and all other matter of Supes exist. Always have. The King of these beings, Ian, is a  centuries old vampire who is advocating that the super natural beings come out of hiding. He feels like the world is able to handle it now. In the past humans and supernaturals lived in harmony, but as time went on humans became more closed minded and tried to destroy magic. So Ian and his queen created a veil, to hide supernaturals from humans. Ian was in an epic battle with his brother and not to give too much away, Ian's queen was killed. Good vs Evil and all that jazz. ;) The world becomes much bigger for our heroine Jules. She discovers that everything she thought was a fairy tale was real. The story progresses quickly and it was very easy to lose yourself in reading. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a fast paced paranormal romance.I feel like their will be a sequel to this. I have been looking at the authors website and social medial, but still cant find anything about a sequel. If I do I will edit this. :)
