This novel was a good read. It contains lots of action and is written in first person point of view.
The story in told by Gin Crawford, an ER nurse who has a twin brother and grew up with alcoholic parents. Her brother's name is Tonic, aka "T". He can see and speak with ghosts while Gin is an empath. One day at work, Gin's coworker Will is attacked and his bracelet is found in Gin's pocket. She puts on the bracelet and it does not come off. Then she starts getting attacked by minions. She is saved by Aidan Smythe, who has magical abilities and is her guardian. The Agency has been looking for that bracelet Gin now wears and several other people want her dead or captured for their own purposes.
Smythe begins to train Gin to be a justitia, one who can kill minions. However, Gin has many demons from her past that affect her in different ways and cause her to close up. Things get bad when her FWB, Blake, disappears. Smythe and Gin go after him but get caught in a trap. Gin is captured by a demon named Zagan. Zagan tells Gin things that the Agency has not told Gin. Smythe comes to rescue Gin, but Zagan escapes, leaving Gin with more questions and Smythe told her Zagan lies, but her bracelet sensed Zagan's words had some truth. The story ends with Gin finding something and knows things are just beginning.....

In this story, we meet Gin, and her twin Tonic. Yeah, apparently their parents had a real sense of humor. Gin is a nurse in an ER in Texas. She is an Empath. Her brother is a person who can talk to ghosts, even though he flat our refuses to do so. Something happens one day at work with a doctor that Gin apparently feels is H.A.W.T. (my word, not hers). After finding the doctor in a life threatening emergency, she finds a bracelet in her pocket. She puts it on at the insistence of her brother. What happens when she puts that bracelet on? Who is Detective Smythe? What is the Agency? How does Gin's life change after she puts on the bracelet? What happens? This is definitely one heck of a read. When I woke up at 12:30, I had to pick it up and keep reading until just after 3:30. I could not put the book down. It rocked! I am looking forward to reading Demon Cursed now. This is one of those, "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore, Toto." moments. Enjoy the read!

I love action packed paranormal romances and this was a good one but the heroine is who really sells the story she stands up for what she believes in and has a take no prisoners attitude.

Gin is an empath which means she has the ability to real people’s feelings and thoughts by touching them. She also shares a bond with her brother T. Gin is an E R nurse. Then one of Gin’s co-workers is assaulted. Then a strange silver bracelet with a mind of it’s own appears in Gin’s pocket urging her to put it on. Then things change and Gin is introduced to a sexy guardian named Smyhte and his colleague . Gin also learns her bracelet: the Justilia was created to slay demons and she is now a Demon Slayer. Also there are demonic minions and certain guardians that want to see Gin dead. People show up by a portal to kill Gin. Gin’s brother T encourages Gin to put on the bracelet so Gin does. Then Gin is kidnapped by a demon.
I liked this story a lot. The plot was very good and I really enjoyed the story. This also kept my attention from the beginning to end. I loved the twists and turns. Even though Sargon was a demon it made me snicker with his love of peanut butter. I loved the bond between Gin and T. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I recommend.

Title:  Demon Lore
Series:  Demon Huntress Book #1
Author:  Karilyn Bentley
Genre:  Urban Fantasy, Paranormal
Blurb:   Gin Crawford has enough problems dealing with her empath abilities. Finding out she's the world's newest demon-slayer is the last thing she needs. Unfortunately, when she slips on a mysterious bracelet she is given no other choice. On the plus side, her new gig comes with Tall, Dark and Handsome, a mage who may or may not have her best interests at heart. Thoughts: Demon Lore was a very interesting urban fantasy – the story itself was very original with likeable characters that made it a joy to read. The originality of the story really keeps you interested. The book doesn’t spend a lot of time focusing on a real romance, but I will continue to hope that one eventually develops. While I did find some things predictable in the storyline, there were others that keep you on your toes. The storyline is a continual one, and there were a lot of questions left unanswered that will leave you just needing to read the rest of this series. So, if you are one of those that hate lingering questions or that likes to wait to read all the books at once at the end of the series, this is something to be aware of.
I enjoyed it myself, and have already hunted down book #2 – Demon Kissed!
