Description

Commended in the Yeovil Prize 2016

Callie’s world will be lost to war – unless she can unlock the magic of an ancient manuscript. She and her friends are being drafted and many of them won’t come back. When a secret order tells her she can bring peace just by reading from a book, it seems an easy solution – perhaps too easy. But how do you make the right decision when no one will tell you the truth? Callie soon finds herself hunted, trapped between desperate allies and diabolical enemies.

There are only two people Callie can trust – her best friend and her ex-Marine bodyguard. And they are on different sides.  Callie alone must decide: how far will she go to stop a war? Dare she read this book? What’s the price – and who will pay?

"Twisty, suspenseful and heart-rending, The Devil's Poetry is a captivating read." Emma Haughton, author of Now You See Me and Best Left Buried

“I loved everything about this book.”

“I am amazed. Callie is a wonderful heroine. She has special powers but retains all properties of a teenage girl. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat . Writing is wonderful. Although the the [sic] book is part of a series, the story is complete. You'll want to buy the next book simply because it is good.”

“This story was more powerful than it first appears. The writing takes you deep into the world of free choice and tackles a lot of moral issues. Is the sacrifice of one acceptable for the salvation of many? Although magic is involved in this story, the message was still clear about how the masses can be easily swayed by the words of a charismatic speaker. It's well-written and an engaging story, and well worth reading.”
