A delightfully sweet story of a young dinosaur on his first day at a new school and how he initially worries about fitting in, but finds by the end of the first day he really had nothing to worry about. This is a nice story in itself, but would be particularly useful for any young minds who are going through a similar situation and need a little bit of reassurance! The only downside of the book is that on some of the pages I found the bold text a little difficult to read, but this is a very minor detail. The illustrations were great and the there was just enough text on each page.

We loved everything about First Day Friends! This is a great book to talk about starting school with your child. The illustrations are bright and fun. Dinosaurs are huge at our house so a book about the first day of kindergarten for dinosaurs is a sure winner. I enjoyed the focus on the children working together to include the new student and show kindness to each other. This would be a great addition to the home, school and public library.

A cute story of a young dinosaur who is very worried about his first day at a new schoo. He does not want to talk or do anything until he is asked. He is not sure if he will fit in or make friends. This is a great book to talk about starting school with your child. The dinosaur children worked together with the guidance of their teacher to make the new student feel welcome. They were all kind and went out of their way to include him in their activities. My grandson loves dinosaurs but as I read him this book, he started talking about how he would be going to kindergarten soon and would share and make new friends. This would be a great story to read with little ones starting school for the first time or moving to a new school to help alleviate anxiety. The illustrations were great, they were bright, colourful and filled with fun cartoon-like dinosaurs. This book would be a great addition to a family, school, primary/kindergarten classrooom or public library.

This was a fun book that shows that your first day at school probably isn't going to be as bad as you imagine! It covers the story of a little dinosaur who is starting at a new school after the other children, he feels that he won't fit in and win't make friends - he soon realises that this is not the case and it has the happy ending needed - 4 stars - ideal for little ones that will be joining part way through a school year, or even those starting a new term.

Kids of all ages have a fascination with dinosaurs. The Dinosaur Pals Series is perfect for young readers as it delivers friendly, happy characters and familiar scenarios for the reader to enjoy.

In "First Day Friends" the setting is the first day of Kindergarten. Mrs. Gronk the teacher prepares her students for a brand new arrival named Kevin. Kevin is delivered to the class by his dad who is disoriented and flustered because he got lost trying to find the school causing both he and his little boy to be late. Oh my! Kevin has first day jitters big time! He is shy and hesitant to enter into this unfamiliar and scary new environment.

The kids in the kindergarten room sense his apprehension and anxiety and take it upon themselves to welcome Kevin with friendly smiles and TLC. They show him where to put his backpack, share activities with him and make him feel very special and part of the group. Mrs. Gronk takes his favourite book that he points out from the reading shelf and reads it to the whole class.

A mishap occurs due to reckless running in the classroom (which is strictly prohibited by the way) and the whole class works together to clean up the mess enabling them to get on with their exciting show and tell time.

Everyone takes a turn exhibiting what they brought in from home to share except Kevin who has nothing to contribute. Did the class ridicule him or make him feel bad? No way! One new friend suggests Kevin express his show and tell by telling them something. Kevin happily rises to the occasion and asks everyone to guess the answer to a riddle. The kids all cheer and laugh along with him making his new school, new friends, and first day at kindergarten a very successful one indeed! Hurray!!!!

4.5 stars.

I LOVED the pictures! They are so colourful, bright and soft. This was greatly appeal to little kids (and adults). This is a must read for all little children who are uncertain about starting Kindergarten for the very first time.

The story is about how a little dinosaur, Kevin, is upset and unsure about starting Kindergarten and how he doesnt want to go. But once he gets there and sees how friendly the other kids are, he soon relaxes and enjoys himself. Its a cute book and I hope this author does more like this because this was beautiful.
