This is such a great book! Packed full of Kawaii doodles, the illustrations themselves are cute, and the tutorials are broken down so simply step-by-step, that it's not hard to feel like an artist after trying out a few of the ideas! The written instructions couldn't be more straight-forward. For keen doodle artists this is a really great starting point, and it'll be a while before you run out of ideas. There is space at the end of the book to try out some doodles, as well as some 'hide and seek' type pages. Overall, this is a brilliant book for arty types.

Such an adorable book!
I just learned that the cartoon type I find so cute is called kawaii, and know I can draw some similar. I do not think of my self of a good drawer, or a bad one for that matter, so I was a little skeptical to the tutorials. But after trying a few of them I found them just as cute as the ones in the book. So I will say that the tutorials are easy to follow. I have tried a few other drawing books like this one, but found that the tutorials increased in difficulty too fast. This did not happen here. It kept the drawings to a comfortable level all the way through.

At the end there were a few pages of games, and you could color them if you wanted. I felt that these pages came some what out of the blue. I liked them, but suggest that they could be a book of its own in stead, all thou the combination of the tutorials and the games made the book different from other books of the same kind.

I would like to by this book to keep for my self, and then as a book form so I can color and draw directly into the book.

I will say right now, I absolutely can not draw. I'm one of those talentless folks who try and try, but just can't. This book is so helpful though! Cute from cover to cover, and simple enough that even I can follow along and make my own cute little doodles!

This is a great stepping stone to branching off into making your own cute doodles or something more complicated. I can actually see these Kawaii doodles being really useful! They can be worked into crafts, and would be perfect for people who keep bullet journals!

I highly recommend this cute doddle book to those who need some help in the art department, those who don't, and people who just can resist cute!

This book was good fun - I have a few ideas for classroom display doodles and using doodles to develop fine motor skills in young people

This book is honestly adorable. It's a great little book to learn to draw kawaii doodles. I think it would be better as a physical book so you can flip through it quickly. It is adorable and is helpful for those wanting to draw. I tried some for myself and it's something you should probably try with a pencil first and take time with it. But once you get the hang of it, it's fun knowing that there's a bunch of options for doodling.

Very cute book for beginner, the instructions are easy to follow to draw Kawaii doodles. This book perfect as a gift for family or friends who want to learn how to doodles because it's very cute and simple. The reason I give this book 4 stars is because I expected more color.

Thank you Netgalley for this book.

Easy to draw and adorably cute! I'm not only going to order this book for our public library, I'm going to offer a Kawaii Doodle Class in the future. Every tween girl will love this book!

Kawaii basically means 'cute' in Japanese. The style is happy, friendly, cuddly and, well, cute. Zainab Khan quit her day job to doodle full time and the result is adorable.

This is a how-to book. The sections and tutorials are grouped into: Adorable food and drinks, lovable nature, cheerful doodle monsters, everyday cute and charming holiday decorations. Each of the characters has a step by step tutorial and also includes inspiration pages and doodle pages for practicing what you've learned.

As with most how-to-draw books, it includes a list of materials (with a 'Don't Panic', pick up a pencil and draw! message), as well as tips and tricks to get the shy artist in motion.

What follows are pages and pages of step by step tutorials for creating your own kawaii doodle creations. The taco made me giggle out loud. Really really cute!

The book seems to be slanted to a mostly younger audience, but frankly I see kawaii stethoscopes and syringes and microscopes in my future 'meeting doodles' in the margins of my notes.

Well worth a look, especially if you have a young artist (or wannabe) on your hands.

Four stars

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher.

it is quite nice to have some lights about japanese kawaii or anime designs.
The book is cute but could have some more elaborated matter or designs as well as explaining more about the kawaii culture.

I have wanted to create kawaii doodles for a while, but, up until now, had never known where to start. This book, with more than seventy-five easy step-by-step instructions, offers inspiration as well as some great tips and tricks on how to get started.
From information about doodling tools to the correct face positioning to doodle accessories, detailed and helpful lessons for beginners are delivered.

The instructions are divided into five different categories - Adorable Food and Drinks, Lovable Nature, Cheerful Doodle Monsters, Everyday Cute and Charming Holiday Decorations - my favorites of which being Lovable Nature and Charming Holiday Decorations.
In my opinion, Cheerful Doodle Monsters might seem intimidating and difficult to beginners and the author should have included some advice on different angles and body proportions.

All in all, I highly recommend this book if you're interested in drawing simple but cute doodles.

Kawaii means cute and this book certainly has that factor!

In cute pastel shades the cover pops with eye catching colour, illustrations of variety with many cute little faces from cakes to people like characters with angel wings, it let's your imagination run free with the unexpected and unrealistic making it a work of eye opening wonder!

The book starts with a list of tools and essentials what you can use to have a go with but so long as you have at least a pen or pencil with some paper to hand you can try some sketches from the off.

The book pages are set with cute borders alike clouds, in pastel and deeper blue against the plain white background on which the drawing tips and demonstration step by step images sit on.

You don't need to be an amazing artist to be able to use this book as everything is super simple to follow, I personally loved the flower designs best and there's a handy way to draw a rose I found useful!

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

First let me start off by saying I am in no way an artist. Give me a crochet hook or jewelry making things and I'll make something awesome. But drawing not....very successful at it. However this is simple easy directions with step by step pictures and I have to say I can make little drawings now on my kids things that they absolutely love.

Zainab Khan's Kawaii Doodle Class gives readers simple instructions for creating adorable characters. I have no artistic ability when it comes to drawing. I thought if nothing else this book would be fun to look through. I was surprised at how easy some of the doodles were to replicate. The illustrations were easy to follow. While my drawings were far from perfect, it gives me the confidence to keep trying. I have already used what I learned to amaze a few young relatives. I am glad I did not let my artistic short comings stop me from checking out this charming book.

This book is just adorable - the illustrations are extremely cute and it's perfect to inspire anyone wanting to make their own Kawaii illustrations. The step by step instructions are really clear and simple to follow and it really is packed full of fun ideas. Love it!

Kawaii Doodle Class is a fun book that provides hours of fun for those who like to Doodle. The book is divided into categories like Food, Holidays, Monsters and more. Every item can be drawn by following a simple tutorial and there's room for free-drawing as well. At the end of the book there are a couple of cute coloring pages. All in all, a nice book if you want to learn how to doodle Kawaii style.

Kawaii Doodle Class is a novice-friendly, easily accessible how-to book for delightful doodles. There are step-by-step walkthroughs on how to draw cuteness from scratch and the book even offers space to practice what you've learned and doodle directly on the pages.. Instructionals feature plants, food, monsters, and even everyday objects just to show that anything can be made adorable, the only limit is your imagination!

Sooooooo cute!
If Kawaii translates to ‘cuteness’ then I guess this book is oozing Kawaii.
This book takes simple objects and shows you how you can turn them into cute little doodle characters.

After a quick introduction the book is divided into five different categories…..
Adorable Food and Drinks
Lovable Nature
Cheerful Doodle Monsters
Everyday Cute
and Charming Holiday Decorations.

Within each of these sections we are presented with a selection of cute characters; each with step by step directions on how to create them for ourselves, and further useful tips on how we can make them our own with cute additions to the basic character idea.
The book provides plenty of inspiration to then go on to create your own doodle characters.

Aimed at the beginner, this book would be ideal for those starting out with Kawaii doodling or those nervous of their doodling/artistic capabilities. Or to be honest those like myself just looking for a stress free doodle release.
I have previously purchased several doodling books and I have a wide selection of adult colouring books and I can see this book fitting in well with those.
Most of the doodles within the book are coloured with a couple of pastel shades; in keeping with the general cutesy theme, but the colourist in me can see much scope in creating little characters which I can then let my coloured pencils loose on.
I think the book would make a great gift; particularly for those who like cutesy things.

Kawaii meaning cute.

If like me you can't draw a thing but still love to try, then this book is for you. Each Kawaii Doodle can be completed very simply, following the step by step pictures with guidance notes in plain English. The addition of the face transforms the doodle into an adorable character. In a nutshell, these doodles are very addictive and will have both children and adults drawing like a pro. Loved it.

Many thanks to Netgalley who provided me with this ARC. I chose to read it and give a voluntary and unbiased review.

I used to buy KAWAII stickers on ETSY a lot, for use in my planner, bullet journal, and personal journals. I love the fact that they are so cute. This doodle book made it possible for me to start doodling KAWAII characters instead of buying stickers constantly. I feel like this is going to save me so much money in the long run.
This book has a wonderful variety of doodles ranging from adorable food and drinks, lovable nature, cheerful doodle monsters, everyday cute objects, to charming holiday decorations. The search & find puzzles that you can also color at the end of the book looks so fun and calming. I am in no way what I consider artistically inclined, yet found the direction very easy to follow. I took the advice given and sketched in pencil first so I could erase any mistakes.
I think this book is wonderful for anyone interested in learning how to doodle. The step by step directions are so easy to follow it doesn't matter your artistic ability. If you are buying stickers, why not switch it up and learn a fun hobby while you are at it.

Thank you NetGalley and Race Point for allowing me an advanced copy of what is a brilliant book from Zainab Khan. In return for the privilege this is my review. I came to this in total ignorance of what Kawaii Doodles are my interest being raised by have two relatively new grand children and wanting to find out how to draw pictures with them in apparent simple ways. So, for all those who say - "I can't draw", "I'm no good at drawing" here is the book for you and also for those of us who think we can draw but spend more time erasing than drawing.
This volume is well laid out, simple to follow and the author has spent a lot of time and effort in organising it with plenty of examples. I cannot heap too much praise.
By the end you will not be a Michelangelo but you will be able to win at Pictionary and also entertain your little ones.
So, but the book a pad and some colour pencils and away you go.

"Kawaii" is a Japanese concept/idea dating back to the 1970's which loosely translates to "cuteness" in English. In Japan, it basically is used to describe anything that is cue, from clothing to handwriting. This book includes five sections: Adorable Food and Drinks, Lovable Nature, Cheerful Doodle Monsters, Everyday Cute and Charming Holiday decorations. It offers more than 75 characters for readers to learn to draw and has other suggestions for which one can expand on what they've just learned.

In addition to the basic tools for learning to draw being outlined, there's a very helpful set of pages within the Everyday Cute about the easiest way to draw some basic shapes, like a cone or a cube or a pyramid. These things are often left out of "How to Draw" books and it's useful to remember that not every beginner knows how to do these.

Overall, the book really captures both Kawaii basics and an easy level for new "artists". Definitely think it's great for anyone wanting to learn.

This book is adorable and easy to follow! Both my 7 year old and 13 year old love Kawaii and they looked through the book with me -- they can't wait to sit down with their art supplies. This is definitely a book I would add a hard copy of to our collection. I think it will be the used for our beginning of the year fun art projects. :)

As soon as I was approved for this review, my son and I sat down and tried it out. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. The items in the book that you are trying to draw are super cute and easy to personalize. I will be purchasing a copy of this book (and more pencils and paper) very soon. This would be a great gift for a person who wants to learn to draw.

This book was absolutely adorable. I had a fantastic time going through each of the sections and drawing the little doodles. Once I practice them more, I intend to branch out and try some of the "get inspired" doodles. This really did make me feel more comfortable doodling, that it doesn't have to be perfect. Adding a little face to all the inanimate objects really did make them cuter. I can't wait to share this with friends so they can enjoy it too.

A really cute book full of easy to follow tutorials and great tips. Perfect for beginners or experienced doodlers looking for some creative inspiration!

This is a cute book with easy to follow, step by step instructions. Following the steps to draw the numerous items in each section helps you learn the curves and lines and faces. Then you get to the "Get Inspired" section and you can use the tools you learned in the earlier pages to doodle whole groups of friendly cuteness!
Plus, my 7 year old was able to follow along and draw the characters as well. It is a great springboard for anyone who is interested in learning the basics on kawaii and cartoon type drawing.

Many doodling books have examples of doodles but don't break down the steps to making them. That's one of the things that sets Kawaii Doodle Class apart. All of the adorable doodles are built up step-by-step. Not only does this make it easy to recreate the doodles, but it teaches the doodler how to think about shapes and gives them the experience to make their own doodles.

The style is--of course--very cute and fun. Lots of the doodles would be perfect for using on calendars and planners. Despite the cuteness, this isn't a book aimed at children. Adults with a love of kawaii or cute things will love this book, too.

Pic Candle is a professional Doodle artist - who knew there was such a thing? Her kawaii (cute) depictions of everyday objects are charming and after reading this book, I am now motivated to try to have ango myself. Are the doodles simple? Yes, but I know I lack the vision to come up with these things myself so this book gives me loads of inspiration to have a go. A fun book which will give you an enjoyable hobby.

These doodles are incredibly cute! The steps are very simple and I appreciated the tips about drawing tools as well. I would have liked to see some animal doodles, but the friendly monsters were very imaginative. Overall the book is appropriate for kids, teens and adults - anyone who likes cute things!

A cute little book that introduces you to the concept of kawaii and gives simple instructions to create your own kawaii drawings. There is also room inside for drawing. Perfect for anybody into bullet journaling.

This is a very fun, well organized little book. Everyone here has covered how extensive it is, but I also liked the tips at the beginning that showed how you could personalize them by varying the placement of eyes and mouths. Perfect rainy day activity for kids and adults alike.

This absolutely adorable book breaks down super-cute drawings into step by step easy doodles that even the least artistic among us can feel empowered to succeed at. Every page is increasingly cute, and the little faces looking out at me just cheered me to no end. Too many superlatives? It's hard to review this book without them, because this whole entire book is just too sweet. An excellent addition to any library's collection, especially if you have manga fans in your base (and who doesn't?). Appropriate even for younger audiences, but super fun through adult as well.

Growing in a family that is inclined very much towards arts and crafts, I have always believed I had to have a creative vein. Even when my several attempts on arts have proved otherwise, I hold on to the hope that some day I would find some art form that I might be good at. So I requested the book that promised to teach step by step instructions to draw these cutest doodles with the so much to lose. Yeah Kawaii literally means cute.

First of, the whole book was DAMN CUTE (I know I am overusing the term). The step by step instruction made it even for a craft challenged person to follow, though there were a few redundant steps. Hey who cares, they look adorable. The book teaches to draw day to day items like food and drinks, holiday things and even monsters. I personally loved the monsters (That doesn't mean I draw them any better).

The entire book may have been for a younger generation but that would not stop you (adult, I mean) from enjoying it all the same. This can surely be a great gift to young and adults alike. I can already think of at least 2-3 people who would enjoy this. I can't stop gushing over this overtly adorable book. Grab Kawaii Doodle Class already, I say.

This book is super cute. For me, the fact that it is truly step-by-step is much appreciated though I know some people would find this book too simple because of it.

The cover of the book is a pretty fair representation of the types of things you'll learn to draw. There's room to draw your own (obviously on digital copies that's wasted space but I don't like drawing in books so I wouldn't use that space anyway).

The last few pages are a combination of find the hidden image and coloring book.

Overall, a bit basic, but so cute!

Thank you to net galley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read Kawaii Doodle class in exchange for my honest review. Which is the following.

I do know this doodle artist, so I was curious what the book would be like. It's pretty great. It has a few different themed sections such as Everyday Cute, holidays, monsters amd more. Each sevtion has quite a few step by step tutorials as well as inspiration pages. These have different examples of how you can put different things learned in the chapter to use to make different faces, positions etc. if you don't have practice paper or a sketchbook yet, there are a few practice pages too.

These are tutorials aimed at beginners. I think it would be fantastic for kids and tweens. I think it would be great for planner and bullet journal addicts who want to learn how to make cute doodles for decorations. I'd also recommend it to people interested in simple doodles for stress relief sketchbooks. Or anybody new to this style.

I loved this. It was so very easy and covered all of the basics. Some of the idea felt a bit contrived but the step by step was very clear and easily followed. I drew most of the kawaii characters and, although not an artist, they all came out looking adorable. It would have been nice for a few more complicated ones but I suppose that's where your imagination come sin. All in all adorable.

Lots of drawing advice for cutsie, Japanese-style kawaii doodles. Unfortunately, even whenever I follow all the directions, I end up drawing some sort of horrifying blob-thing. Definitely not kawaii. More like koiwai.

Kawaii Doodle Class by Zainab Khan is an illustrated step-by-step resource guide on how to draw smiley lumps that look like food, animals, objects, holiday themes, and monsters. As down-putting as that may sound, it's really quite useful, dainty, and, yes, cute.

Kawaii Doodle Class is a sweet collection of drawings and cartoon food that show the reader how to sketch the items step by step.

I am definitely do not have any artistic skills but I thoroughly enjoyed using this book to sketch cute food such as fries and donuts. It is definitely great if you need a half hour to yourself to relax and get lost in creating something.

I would highly recommend Kawaii doodle class for anyone who is interested in drawing for fun.

This book is just the cutest! I love that it's so simple and easy to follow. The only thing I probably struggle with trying this is doing a combination of all the objects and create something similar to the cover of this book. I'm still learning how to combine them and make the appear as the objects I drew with minimal space, unlike drawing them individually which enables you to appreciate it as it is. My full-page doodle just looks messy. So I suppose that just means I need more practice.

What a beautifully fun book to learn how to draw kawaii characters. Kawaii is Japanese for “cuteness” and as someone who enjoys watching anime, I am very familiar with cute faced kittens or talking foods that appear out of nowhere.

Popular kawaii artist Zainab Khan, shows us in detail how to draw smiley faced ice cream cones, delectable cute cupcakes, and even happy hamburger pictures. The instructions are super easy to follow, you’ll wonder why you haven’t been drawing kawaii sooner.

To gain full appreciation of the book, I practiced some drawings following the book and love what I had come up with. I am no artist(actually, I am bad with drawing) but I had fun with this book.

This is a cute collection of adorable doodles with the tips to give your sketches that extra bit of super cute kawaii. I love the step-by-step instructions and found it useful to help me draw common objects, even if I don't make them kawaii doodles. When you need a break from practicing your cupcake swirl, the search-and-find images beg to be used as colouring practice. I think this is a fun book and can provide insight for those looking to improve their doodles, and a smile for anyone needing a bit more kawaii.

This book is super adorable and shares how to sketch super cute objects in categories like food and drinks, nature, monsters, everyday cute and holiday decorations. There are step by step instructions included on how to make over 75 characters. You can start with a pencil to sketch them and then ink them. Rounded corners add to the cuteness (a great tip!) and faces are only recommended but not needed. I added faces on the drawings I tried out because I thought that it made them look cuter! Most of the instructions are only a handful of steps but there are some that are more like 2 pages and the instructions get more and more difficult as you go through the book so you might want to start with the earlier, smaller designs and work your way up to the more complicated ones! At the end there are pages at the end to doodle on. I had a lot of fun looking through the cute characters and ended up drawing a popsicle, lightning cloud and christmas tree on my notes for this book! Super adorable! I wouldn't consider myself an artist at all and I think they came out really well!

I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated.

This book is very good for beginners. It tells you what exactly makes the pictures cute, what proportions to use and how they change the final product and gives tips on the colours to use to achieve the hightest "cuteness".
Somewhat cynical in what it's trying to achieve, but it does the job well.

Well, this book is full of fun ideas to get you started and you can tweak them however you want. Race Point Publishing and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of Kawaii Doodle Class: Sketching Super-Cute Tacos, Sushi, Clouds, Flowers, Monsters, Cosmetics, and More. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

I was not familiar with the term kawaii, but the style of putting cute faces on ordinary objects appealed to me. Kawaii Doodle Class has instructions for more than seventy-five doodles, with great tips and hints on how to get started. With information about proper tools and accessories, beginners can feel comfortable with getting started on their own.

The book is broken up into five categories: Adorable Food and Drinks, Lovable Nature, Cheerful Doodle Monsters, Everyday Cute and Charming Holiday Decorations. My favorites are the food and the nature sections, as I found the doodles contained within to be mainly easy to draw and great for a beginner. Kawaii Doodle Class is great for sparking imagination and creativity in people of all ages. I would highly recommend this book for all ages and skill levels.

I really enjoyed this book because it was easy for me to draw the characters as they all had step-by-step instructions for me to follow. This is great because I don’t have any drawing talent whatsoever plus because it has step-by-step instructions it allows you to practice all the basic shapes for the eyes, body etc which you can then apply and use to create your own character.

So, far that is all I have to say for this book. It was a chill, easy to follow doodling book that is great for anybody regardless of artistic background to try.

I got this book because I've never had a lot of confidence in my drawing skills. This looked so cute and easy enough for me to start doodling. My 6 year old ended up taking it from me and spent an entire day with it. I don't think anything has ever held her attention for that long. She loved it. The step by step instructions are clear. Once you have those down, you can easily make little changes (and she has some suggestions how) to make it your own. It's an adorable book. I ended up buying a physical copy. I recommend it for kids and adults.

This is a fun little book with lots of suggestions for fun things to draw. It wood make a great gift for fans of kawaii art, and a good addition to a school library. I tried out a few of tutorials and my children had a go too, and found it not too challenging.
