is a traitor in their midst before it’s too late?
Cat Called Dog 2 (The One with the Kittens) is a great fun book suitable for
both children and cat/animal lovers of all ages. Most of all, the story and characters are funny, though the book does have some sad and scary bits. Its more serious philosophical subtext will appeal to adults especially. In its adult/children cross-appeal, it is much like a Disney or Pixar movie.
This book can be enjoyed as a stand-alone read without knowing the first book A Cat Called Dog (2015).
A Note From the Publisher
I would request that readers who have enjoyed this book leave reviews if you can (on Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.com, Goodreads.com etc). Many thanks!
"It might be a sequel but it reads brilliantly well even if you haven't read A Cat Called Dog." (The Bookbag September 3rd 2017).
"What I wasn't expecting was a thriller which had me on the edge of my seat as the gang encountered killer slugs and dinosaurs. There were a couple of points at which I really didn't see how any of them could escape: Vanston has the pacing exactly right and I was relieved when I could finally breathe out.
When I started reading I didn't realise that this was a sequel, but it really didn't matter. Author Jem Vanston gives us just enough to fill in the background (and to tempt me to go back and read A Cat Called Dog and despite the fact that I'm a dog lover who's had little to do with cats I found myself falling for the gang. They've all got their own characters: I never forgot that they were cats and it was delightful to feel that I would know them if I met them." (The Bookbag. September 3rd 2017).
"But really, these are great cat books - and A Cat Called Dog 2: The One with The Kittens is a purrrfect sequel! Though it can be read for those who don't know the first book.
It's basically a quest adventure, with kittens trying to fin their mum who's been stolen by cat catchers.
So the cats set off, led by Dog, to find her - and have to survive various challenges on the way, including killer slugs and - thanks to the author's clever device of using a film studios - a land of dinosaurs.
It's all very, VERY funny with strong, well-drawn and lovable (and hate-able) characters. There are some sad and scary bits - and some really impressive scenes too.
I look forward to buying this for all my true friends - and their children - at Christmas.
This is a real treat of a book. Dare I say, a classic. I started rereading it as soon as I'd finished!"
