I received this copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Piney is a little striped piglet who lives on a farm. All around him are farm animals busy doing their jobs. Piney wants a job too, and as he grows up, he tries many different jobs hoping to find one that fits. One day, he wakes up from his nap to find a crying baby goat in the house. He snuggles close to the goat and its crying stops. Piney had finally found his perfect job...he is a goat nanny!
I am familiar with The Goats of Anarchy's Instagram page and I was excited to see a children's book from my favorite goats. It is a sweet story. The illustrations are adorable and had a fun, vintage look to them. There is some great vocabulary sprinkled throughout the story. At the end, some background about The Goats of Anarchy is shared, along with some pictures of Piney and his goat friends.

This adorable picture book introduces young readers to Piney the pig, a pig who wants a job on the farm. We are introduced to Piney as a young pig, no bigger than a watermelon and watch as he grows to discover his purpose; he becomes the perfect goat nanny, comforting small goats in need of some extra cuddles and love. Piney the Goat Nanny is based on the true story of Piney the Pig, who lives at the Goats of Anarchy farm in New Jersey. Readers will enjoy the beautiful illustrations throughout the book, but also the real life pictures of author Leanne Lauricella, Piney the Pig, and goats that reside on the farm that are included at the end of the book! This beautiful story will engage readers as they fall in love with this adorable pig!

This is a wonderful series for children to show them about animal rescue and caring for animals that may not be perfect. In this addition to the Goats of Anarchy series, we meet Piney, a small pig that came to live with Leanne Lauracella on her farm. Piney lived in the house but was not sure what his role on the farm would be. This book overlaps with another in the series about a small goat name Prospect. Piney curled up with this little goat and kept him warm. He also taught Prospect how to eat and behave like an animal. Other orphan goats were also "Nannied" by Piney. This is a great story about friendship, responsibility and respect to animals, as well as the rewards and successes of animal rescue. The story is simplified for children. I love the illustrations in this book. They are cute and kids will love looking at them. At the end of the book are actual photos of Piney and his charges. There is also a short explanation of the farm and the story of Piney and another goat who came to live on the farm. If you love animals, want to support animal rescue or introduce children to the plight of animals with problems, then read this book. A great addition to any library, family, public or school. I will watch for more books from GOA.

Piney started out as a curious little pig who looked like a brown watermelon. As he grew, he tried to find his niche on the farm. With the arrival of little rescue goat Prospect, he found that niche as a goat nanny.

Adorable illustrations accompany the true story of Piney as if told by him. In the back are some real photos of Piney and the goats he's been nanny to. A great picture book for animal lovers and those covering farm units or learning about animal rescue operations. Touching and cute. Totally snatching this up for the elementary library when it comes out. I expect many kids to fall in love with Piney.

OH MY GOODNESS. ALL THE STARS, ALL THE CUTEZ, I CAN’T EVEN. Howarth’s illustrations are so amazing, with their retro pastel-texture… I would love to see kids bedroom decor with these GOA characters, it would be the cutest thing ever. The story itself, about Piney the pig helping to comfort and raise baby goats, is very heartwarming and continues to show just how amazing the animals of the Goats of Anarchy farm are.

I have read a few books in this series and have loved them all - being true stories makes them even more special. A lovely book that teaches children that everyone (or every animal) has a place in the world - 4 stars from me, a lovely little story.

Piney the Goat Nanny is one of the best books in the GOA Kids - Goats of Anarchy by Leanne Lauricella. My grandchildren and I have enjoyed all the books that we have read in the series but Piney just has that something special quality.

Told in a matter of fact way with a bit of whimsical added in it reminds us all that we need to have a purpose in life. This book will make a pig lover out of us all. It has simple text that is great for young readers but also one that preschoolers will love too.

Of course, we had to reread Prospect’s story after Piney’s story, especially since that is where we first met Piney. We appreciated the illustrations in the book but loved the photographs at the end of the book. All in all, Piney the Goat Nanny is a hit story at our house.

The publisher through Net Galley provided a digital ARC.

I love the Goats of Anarchy books. They are all heartfelt, and based on real stories from the real farm. This book is about Piney the pig. He wanted a job at the farm like all the other animals. Turns out he is the best Goat Nanny there is. I love that this book has both the story that is great for read alouds, as well as real pictures, and more information in the back about the real animals. These books are well done, and I can't wait for the next one.
