Zoey may seam fine on the outside but she still suffers from nightmares and amnesia about the tragedy that stole her family from her. She is ready to go back and face what happens but she needs Gray to be with her. When Zoey broke his heart years ago and chose another he has built a nice wall up around his heart. Will Zoey break it down? This is a fast-pace read with lots of drama, I was hooked from beginning to end. The characters are great and they story really draws you in. I loved it!

Wow, Grays Promise is a great read, from the opening page the action and emotions bounce off the page.
Zoey a successful surgeon has been plagued by nightmares after a home invasion that left her father and brother dead and herself being raped. She has no memories of the evening or how she ended up being engaged to Grays brother, when her and Gray had been so happy and in love.
Being angry and heartbroken by these events Gray had left and joined the military, now working for an elite security agency. Zoey 's work is now being affected by past events and she feels the only way she will remember is with Grays help. He is initially cold and unfeeling towards her, but their past love for each other resurface and together they take a journey back to their home town to try revive Zoey's memory.
This is a journey of terror, angst and heartbreak, told so well I had more than a few heart racing moments, but above all it is story of two people in love claiming their lives back and looking to the future.
I thoroughly recommend this book.
My thanks to netgalley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

I received an ARC from Netgalley. I have to say this book captivated me. Gray and Zoey had a love lost story but love found its way again 14 years later.
Zoey had to reach out to Gray for help in dealing with past issues and recovering from a devastating family loss. Love certainly blossomed again through this story and although I pretty much knew from the start who did it I still couldn’t put it down.
Definitely a 4.5 star rating on this book. I can’t wait for Kings story.

This is the first book I have read by this author. I should have read book 1 and will go back to read it now.
This book was well written. The characters well thought out and showed a lot of depth. The story was very well illustrated and easy to follow.

Zoey and Gray are two people who were just meant to be together from day one. However, life has a way of changing the course of things. Without giving the plot away, let's just say a lot of manipulations of facts and no one knows how things got so bad. And it was well plotted out.

Full recommendation on this book but you may want to read book 1 first to understand some of the supporting characters.

On her eighteenth birthday, Zoey’s world was ripped to shreds. Her family murdered and she herself brutally raped, she nearly went insane. The only person she could trust was Gray, the neighbor young man who she loved. But when she needed him most, he walked away, leaving her alone. It’s fourteen years later and she’s still plagued with nightmares. She can’t remember what happened or who was responsible. Her shrink thinks it’s her mind protecting her from the truth. Zoey needs to release the memories, so she can move on with her life. Her shrink suggests she find a safe haven, someone she trusts to unleash the monsters buried deep within her. Gray…

Gray’s tries hard to forget Zoey, his red butterfly, but she’s his kryptonite, the one who gets under his skin and crushes his heart again and again. Not even the military could beat her memory out of him. When she appears out of nowhere at his office, King Security, the walls around his heart crumbles. She needs his help and he’s going to do whatever’s necessary to free his fragile, red butterfly, even if it means returning to his hometown and facing his family.

What neither of them realizes is the one responsible for the murders and even Zoey’s rape is one close to them. Their lives are in danger and while Gray is too close to the situation, Gray brings in his King Security family to protect Zoey at all costs. But will he be able to save Zoey as well as himself or has the murderer entrapped them?

Have you ever read a book that grabs you from the beginning and doesn’t let go? The story invades your every thought and you wonder what will happen next? Gray’s Promise hooked me from the first page and got inside my head. Gray and Zoey became a part of me and I found myself thinking about their plight and relationship while I worked, did chores and even slept.

In a nutshell, the best book I’ve ever read. Hands down.

Anni Fife weaves an intoxicating romantic suspense with visual narration and every scene filled with emotion. The reader plunges into the emotional tornadic war between Zoey and Gray, making it impossible to choose a side. Both characters are damaged beyond repair yet there’s a spark of hope. If they’d be honest with each other, they’d see the truth: they belong together.

This is a steamy romance with plenty of HOT sex scenes. As a woman, I found an almost poetic feel to each sex scene. Sure, it got my pulse racing and beads of sweat clung to my skin, but it was beautifully written. It wasn’t about the sex but rather about the connection building between Zoey and Gray.

I highly recommend this book to romantic suspense, steamy romance, thriller and suspense readers. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Favorite Character/Quote: "Today's the day you take his hand and show him the way. The way to your heart."

My Rating: 5 + stars

Loved it! Really good second chance romance with fantastic characters. Steamy chemistry and melting sex scenes. Gray is swoon worthy! Zoey overcomes her past to love again. Engaging emotional storyline with a good mystery and suspense. Worth the read.

I mostly enjoyed the story of Zoey and Gray. The traumatic event that split up Gray and Zoey was hard to read about and might be a trigger for some readers. The villains and their motivations seemed insane to me and were hard to buy, which is why I didn't give this story five stars. All in all, this was a well-written read and despite some parts that were uncomfortable to read, I enjoyed the story.

What an intense read. I wanted to cry for Zooey and Gray. I loved the slow rebuild of their relationship and the brotherly bonds of king security. The characters are full of depth and feeling making them easily relatable. The reason i gave it four stars, not five, is that i felt the ending, the Enemies' in the story was a bit too predictable.

Zoey suffers an unimaginable tragedy when her and her family is attacked; she wakes up in a hospital room scared out of her mind with little memory of what happened to discover that most of her family was killed during the attack. The man who comforts her and tries to hold her together is the person she always wanted to be there for her. But when her fiance is not the man holding her, she's left even more confused then ever.

14 years go by, Zoey attempts to live her life but never really ends up living it as she is haunted by nightmares of what happened that night but still not able to get any further with details of what happened and who hurt her family. She turns to the man who held her, who comforted her in the hospital room all those years ago. The man who was going to be the love of her life before that horrible night. The man who is a virtual stranger now.

Gray has stayed away from Zoey at her request; a man can only be pushed away so many times before he begins to realize that he's actually hurting her by staying close to her. Zoey was the last person he expected to walk into the office that day. Despite everything, he couldn't turn down her request for help. Not after everything they've been through.

Only one part of this book bothered me: Zoey couldn't go on her usual mission with Doctor's without Borders because her department was short staffed. Yet she can take several weeks off to fly to New York and then home again to deal with this issue? How short staffed is the department really? It seems this small issue was forgotten...

The who did it was pretty obvious from the beginning but the reason and what exactly transpired that night was a surprise. You know it takes a good author to have you feeling for the bad guy in a book.

Wow!! This was a good read, these two had their lives truly turned upside down, part of it you could see coming from the beginning but another part came out of left field, this was a one sitting read.

Sometimes you just like to read a romantic story. When the writer combines that with a good mystery it will have the reader enthralled.

This novel starts of with a very promising start. Young Grayson and Zoey just declared their love for each other when she goes off to celebrate her birthday. Next time Gray sees her her whole family is killed and she is brutally raped. His own brother is wounded. But to make things even more shocking it seems his brother and Zoey are engaged. She refuses to see him and Gray and we the readers are wondering what the hell could have happened.

Ten years later she returns to Gray as her trauma is effecting her work as a neonatal surgeon and she wants to find out what happened that night because it turns out that Zoey suffers from amnesia.

So far the book is very good.. Then the story slows down and turns into "sticks item a into hole B.". Which is entertaining but the mystery solving pushed to the background there.. Luckily the story picks up again and the mystery starts to unravel.

It is an entertaining read until I realised a bit later it has a HUGE plothole. I might have missed something but as far as I know you cannot guarantee amnesia. So it means a potential witness is left alive who could bring the killer to the electric chair. But maybe the writer can share her light on this for us.

A surgeon scarred by her past finally wants to confront her repressed memories, but needs her meant-to-be but-never-happened to help her, despite how often she’d spurned him in the past.
First of all, I have a problem with this title. This is clearly her story, so why does the title feature the man?
There are three parts to this novel, one more prominent than the others; that of course is the love story. Her psychological well-being is another, while the third is the mystery of what happened to her and her family so long ago. Also present is some erotica, though even though this book is listed as such, there really isn’t very much of it here.
First, the mystery. There are more than enough clues given to make one of the characters the obvious perpetrator, so much so that I figured it couldn’t actually be this easy. In a way I was right, but after a little thinking, the real “bad guy” wasn’t hard to figure out either. The psychological stuff was done better, though at times heavy-handed. As far as the erotica is concerned, the problem is that with reunited stories they spend so much time finding reasons to not get together that there isn’t much physical loving until the end, thus making me wonder why it goes under that label.
And as for the romance, these characters went over the same ground over and over. It’s rare when a female protagonist is as stubborn as the male, but it happens here. I usually like the female leads, and I really tried to this time, but it wasn’t till the end that I was convinced she was a doctor, especially a neonatal surgeon; her personality and judgement made her seem like anything but. And I’m glad someone at the end finally called him on his crap as to why he wouldn’t go all the way with her.
It annoys me that I couldn’t like this more.
2.5 pushed up to 3/5

Zoey and Gray are young and in love until a horrible tragedy tears them apart. Her family is murdered, and Zoey, though she escapes death, she does not come away unharmed, and neither does her relationship with Gray.

14 years later, Zoey hunts down Gray for help. In the 14 years since he's seen her, he's never gotten over her. He's never been able to get her out of his mind or his heart, even though he's felt her betrayal in his heart every single day. Still, he can't deny her the protection or the help she seeks, and brings in King Security to help protect the woman he still loves.

I knew when I encountered Gray in Luke's Redemption that I'd love Gray and his story, and I absolutely did! His and Zoey's journey to their second chance is beautifully told. It's action packed, full of sensuality and steam, and the emotions are brimming over. I was rooting so hard for these two, and by the time they made it through, I was cheering but I felt for them. So much had happened to not just Zoey, but Gray, too, that it was heartbreaking. Thank God they had each other at the end. I am officially in love with this series now, and am really looking forward to more King Security stories!
