This is a beautifully written and illustrated children's book about the life cycle if an oak tree. Although written in simple, flowing words which have a natural cadence there is too much to take in with just one reading. The art work is detailed and magnificent and truly reflects the heart of the forest. There is so much to look at and discover on every page, including the healthy interactions many people are having with nature. Take your time with this book and savour every page!
This is a very simple yet busy book about the life of a tree. It starts with an acorn that is in danger of being snatched up by birds or other animals. It survives and starts to grow in the spring, eventually becoming a large Oak tree. Along the way it shows the tree in various seasons and with interactions of animals and humans. The message to me is conservation, getting out in nature and learning about the seasons and their affect on trees. There is so much to see in each illustration that this book could take a long time to get through if you encourage conversation. The text is written in a rhyming form that has a singsong cadence to it. A great book for use in classrooms to teach about a variety of things.
