Thank you Netgalley and the author for a change to read Maris. I am really on the fence with this one. I just had a hard time getting into it and I am not sure why. It is right up my alley with what I enjoy reading but something just felt missing in my engagement with the story. I think it was the absence of emotion that I was hung up on. Despite that I was entertained. I learned after reading this that the author actually as a couple other books in this world and this book is in the middle of that so I think I may read those and come back to this. Overall I think that a fan of the paranormal would enjoy this book, it just wasn't right for me at this moment in time.
