I love this book! I have a young son and I'm always on the lookout for new science books for him. This would be the perfect addition to his collection. He can learn about many landforms of our earth.

The pictures in this book are amazing! My 2 kids (4 and 2) loved looking at the pictures and learning about the different landforms on our beautiful earth. I will definitely be purchasing a copying for the library where I work.

Thanks so much to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book, which I voluntarily reviewed.

Landforms is a beginning reader's basic overview of many of the different types of landforms that can be found on planet Earth. Simple text is paired with gorgeous photography of mountians, lakes, plateaus, and other impressive features of the land and water. There is an emphasis on time -- how some landforms can change rapidly, while others take a lot more time.

The end of the book provides a list of content words and high-frequency words, as well as some suggestions for further reading and other ideas to help children understand the science concepts presented in the book.

Overall, this is a great combination of literacy and science, which is visually appealing as well.

(Thanks to NetGalley for the review copy.)

If I have learned one thing as a preschool teacher, it is that many preschoolers love rocks! Sharing the beautiful photographs and clearly written text about our Earth, its landforms and how these natural features are formed may pique the interest of many young learners. This series uses text features and scientific vocabulary to show beginning readers that this story is nonfiction. One of my favorite features, though, is the Connecting Concepts page at the end of each book in this series, giving teachers and caregivers the opportunity to extend the lesson.
The contrasting solid color corners was slightly distracting but otherwise SO well done - I always appreciate the opportunity to review work by #MaryLindeen - thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher as well. I think #Landforms will be the perfect addition to a preschool or early elementary classroom!

This is a really nice book with some great images.
It is easy to read and understand and I love the section at the end of the book that gives the learning points and the list of words featured in the book that they can learn as they read. A great book to get younger children interested in the world round them and the different landforms on Earth.

Landforms by Mary Lindeen is an informative, non-fiction book in the Earth Science Series. The book provides an interesting way that is easy for children to understand about landforms, types such as hills, valleys, ponds, oceans etc., and how they change such as volcano eruptions, erosion etc. There are facts given during the reading are accompanied by wonderful photographs. This is also an early reader book that will help to reinforce reading skills and build confidence. At the back of the book it lists the high frequency words as well as content words that can be pre-taught or discussed if the book is being read aloud. The section at the back for parents and teachers gives suggested activities for connecting concept as well as resources for further investigation. A good book for a primary classroom learning about landforms and their changes. If using this with older readers, it could be an introduction to the topic and provide a jumping off point for further research and investigation. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.
