Derek Hayes is a hunter. Not the type everyone knows of, though. He, as all of his family, is a hunter of supernatural beings. And there is one thing they know about vampires: they are all bloodsucking murderers. Which is why you kill them first, ask questions later. Or is it possible that not everything is black and white?

When Derek and his brothers stumble upon a vampire case in which an old girlfriend of his, Sloane, has been bitten, he will face the first hesitation he ever had about hunting vampires. Stake and Dust has always been the family motto, but there's something about Sloane that makes Derek think he might be able to save her. Is it just him going crazy, or is there actually a way for Sloane to be a vampire and be a decent supernatural being at the same time? Derek will find himself in a difficult position between what he has been taught all his life, and his newly found doubts. He is sure about one thing, though. He has feelings for Sloane, and he will do everything he can in order to keep her safe.

Flowers and Fangs is a well written, easy-to-read book. With a well constructed story and interesting characters, the reader can't help but root for the two heroes. Derek is a man torn between what he has been told and what he discovers, and you'll find yourself cheering for him to make the right decisions. Along come his brothers , which are all interesting in their own way. I do have a feeling we'll be seeing their stories soon, as well.

Strongly recommended for the fans of fantasy and romance alike, I believe this is a book that everyone can enjoy.

Flowers and Fangs is the second book in Stake and Dust series by Karen Michelle Nutt.

Derek Hayes is a hunter. He and his family are hunters of supernatural beings. They’ve always believed one things, that vampires are bloodsucking murderers, no exceptions. It’s always been kill first, question later. When an ex-girlfriend is found to have been bitten by Nosferatu, Derek must put aside hatred of vampires to try to save her.
This was a pretty good book. It has a kind of similar theme as another YA book series from a few years ago, but still enjoyable. I liked the characters and the flow. It was a pretty quick read. I recommend.
