Good, futuristic although a little cheesy at times. Now don't let my thoughts put you off because there's a lot to like here. I really liked the effort the author put in to make it feel futuristic which obviously gives it a different feel to so many other vampire books available. I did unfortunately find the glossary of terms that was included a little off putting initially but actually as I read it seemed superfluous so please don't be put off.
The main character is Killian who has a disease that is slowly killing her. If frank I really didn't understand exactly what the disease was but it's a key factor as the plot progresses as big, brooding vampire Dacon makes choices in reaction to Killians plight. Dacon usually has no time for humans but forced to work alongside Killian as bodies of vampires are discovered he realises that someone is set on breaking the truce that exists . Suspense, danger, romance and a shock ending made this an interesting read and I applaud the author for trying something different.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
This is the first book in the series and is the first I have read by Rae but it won't be the last. I enjoyed this book it flows well and has lots of great characters I was a little corny at times but surprisingly I liked it and think it add to the book. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series
