Description

A Whale’s World follows a pod of spy-hopping orcas as they explore the ecosystems of the Great Bear Sea while hunting for their next meal. Past rocky shores and through kelp forests, they observe foraging wolves, hungry grizzly bears, curious black bears, graceful fin whales, splashing porpoises, slippery seals and other members of the Pacific coastal food web. The book gives readers a fun introduction to the many ways that marine and land animals interact with their environments and with each other.

Knowing A Whale's World is in the same series as The Seal Garden me immediately reach for this book - we all want to learn about orcas! The photographs on the pages following are a visual feast for the reader's eyes. Younger children will enjoy the photographs and older readers will enjoy learning new facts independently - the narrative is advanced from the orcas' perspective but we get to enjoy all aspects of their habitat. This also would be a book I'd like to to keep on the animals shelf in my classroom - it is recommended for students ages 5 to 8 and I agree but would add parents of preK 4s students might enjoy reading it as well. Thanks to #NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to preview this #orcabook #AWhalesWorld by #IanMcAllister and #NicholasRead
