Thank you AMA Magination Press and NetGalley For an ARC of this gorgoeus book in return for my honest review.

This is a beautifully illustrated book with a lovely message for children about dealing with annoyances in life. I look forward to reading this with my 6;year old tomorrow and the discussion that will follow. A pesky fly follows a pig out for a walk. There are many ways pig could respond to the fly and thankfully he chooses the kind way over other alternatives.

Magination Press and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of Bye Bye Pesky Fly. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

Bye Bye Pesky Fly is a whimsical tale about Pig, who was having a good day until his musings were interrupted by a pesky fly. As Pig's mood worsened, he realizes that he has to figure out how to solve his problem in a more socially acceptable way. When Pesky Fly ends up with a similar issue to Pig, will he also be able to figure out a positive solution to his problem?

Bye Bye Pesky Fly teaches children how to problem solve without resorting to violence, a great life lesson written in a way that they will understand. Life is full of frustrations and this book can help give children the tools they need to make their lives better. The higher level cognitive thinking may be beyond younger age groups, but older children will be able to learn better ways of coping with their problems.

Coupled with adorable illustrations, which seem to leap off the pages, Bye Bye Pesky Fly is a book well suited for home, classroom, or public libraries. With helpful hints and tips for dealing with children and their issues, parents and educators will also learn valuable information.

First off, I simply adored the artwork in this children's book. They were soft, colorful, and had me smiling before I even began the story. I can see the children getting excited and pointing out "That pesky fly" in every photo. Although I found the story to hold an important message, I found the sentence structure a little hard to read aloud with out tumbling over my words. All in all, I think the children will love it!

A huge thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I truly appreciate it!

This great title is a must have. Pig is enjoying a gorgeous day outside when Pesky Fly becomes bothersome and annoying turning Pig's mood sour. How do you deal with your emotions? Do you get angry and yell, do you talk to the person, or do you strike out? This title examines the myriad of feelings from Pig's perspective. Then it flips and examines all the possible reactions from Pesky Fly's side. In the end, it demonstrates that communication and respect lead to mutual happiness and friendship.

I really loved this one. As the parents of two easily frustrated boys, this title is a great addition to our home collection and should really be added to the library collection, as well. It's very helpful in talking about emotional response and strategies and coping skills. It's something we talk about a lot, but it offers another approach and reinforcement. The illustrations are top notch featuring bright colors and the wonderfully expressive Pig.

I really enjoyed reading ‘Bye Bye Pesky Fly’. The book started off a bit predictable, but soon took an unexpected turn. Not only do we see Pig worrying about how to handle this situation, but as the story moves along it turns out the Fly has a similar problem. The Fly also had more depth and personality than I expected him to have. It was a joy to see how things worked out and has a good lesson for kids at its core.

Bye Bye Pesky Fly is a picture book about emotions. Pig is bothered by Fly and must decide what to do about it. And then Fly must decide how he is going to react back to Pig. Each page has strategies and examples for dealing with negative feelings. The illustrations are cute. The text is a little wordy, but useful. The end of the book has a couple pages of useful notes for parents & caregivers.

Cute illustrations that make the reader linger which certainly would enchant a child's interest. The story about a pig being bothered by a 'pesky' fly is a simple one but has a good message - it shows how easily pig can get frustrated and how he copes and gets out of this frustration. Book is a good tool for children as it would be useful to recognize how they can get annoyed and how they can overcome it by being calm, dealing with whatever causes their frustration and continuing on, like pig! Well done addition to this necessary genre for young children.

Pig is enjoying a beautiful day of sunshine and rainbows until a pesky fly shows up. The fly buzzes around his nose and ears until his beautiful day turns to rain and thunder. Pig is now feeling sad and mad. He considers several ways to handle his anger, but as he takes a walk and tries to whistle a happy tune, the fly buzzes around and lands right on his nose. Will that be more than he can take?

The next part of the book shows the feelings and thoughts of the fly.  And the last of the book has notes for the adult reader regarding frustrations, coping skills, etc.

Cons: It was a little bothersome to read the words Pesky Fly so many times during the story. And if that's not fly’s name (which I guess it is because it’s always capitalized), it would have been less noticeable and disruptive to see just the word fly occasionally.

Pros:  This is a very good book to begin teaching children to verbalize their feelings. Although fly’s reaction to Pig’s statement is quite positive, the book will also open the opportunity to talk to children about the fact that verbalizing how you feel doesn’t always turn out the way you’d like it to. So other skills need to be put into practice at that time.

The illustrations are very kid-friendly and should make little ones smile.

4 Stars! Cute book. Shows kiddo’s how to handle an annoying situation. In this case, the fly is bothering the pig & the pig stops to think of the best way to handle the problem. I really liked the artwork too. I’d definitely recommend this book for anyone with young kiddie’s!

The adorable character Pig is basking in the goodness of his day thinking about "sunshine, rainbows, and the feel of cool mud on a hot summer day." Then his "calm, peaceful, and happy" mood is suddenly interrupted by a pesky, buzzing fly and his thoughts turn sour and prickly and he is not happy any more. Oh my!

Pig feels angry and mad and he tries different ways to restore that feeling of peace and tranquility that has just disappeared. He goes through many scenarios of regaining self-control like: should he yell loudly at that pesky fly and tell him to get lost?, should he run away and isolate himself?, maybe he should give that pesky fly a good swat with a fly-swatter... noooo... " Never. Pig was a pig of peace." None of those things would solve his dilemma. What then does Pig decide to do to restore his happiness and compose?

This book helps children deal with the feeling of frustration and anger. It helps a child understand the power of remaining calm when something or someone is annoying them. They need to understand that you can't stop frustrating things from happening in your life but you can control your reaction to the annoying incidents.

This book will help children develop compassion and think through choices as how to react such as:

*identify the feeling that is bothering you
*develop coping skills to solve the problem
*get up and get moving... pig used physical activity (a walk), deep breathing, whistling a tune to cope
*how to cool down - try counting slowly to 10, do some pushups, go jogging, squeeze a ball or some type of stress-reliever, drink some water, listen to some quiet music while you figure out what to do.

If the annoyance leads to bullying or inappropriate behaviour towards you or is presistent then you must seek an adult's help and always, always do the right thing.

The illustrations are strong enough to stand on their own. Children will love Pig and certainly will identify with his feelings towards the pesky fly. The book is inspirational and the dark feeling of frustration is woven perfectly through this relatable story. I highly recommend this book and would suggest it be included in classrooms and school libraries.

This book was super cute. I love how the author not only made the book fun to read but also that it had a lesson to it as well. It was also great to see both sides of the story. From pigs point and The Flys.

Another book chosen so that I could entertain my grandson on his weekly sleepover. Bye Bye Pesky Fly is a beautifully illustrated book that tells the story of a pig that loves nothing more than laying around dreaming of rainbows and unicorns and cool mud on warm days. This day dreaming is interrupted by the arrival of said pesky fly that disturbs the happy pig and turns his happy thoughts to dark angry storm clouds. How should the pig deal with this irritation? Should he shoe the fly? Should he swat the fly? Or should he talk to the fly to let him know how he feels? An engaging story that kept my grandson entertained. You cannot ask more of a book than that.

Kids often have a problem with solving problems with their friends. They don't have the communication skills, or perhaps just are to shy to say anything, when the situation is bad.

As you can see in the illsutraion below, the pig is annoyed that the little fly is hanging out with him.

<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-422" src="http://www.reyes-sinclair.com/wp-
content/uploads/2018/03/Screen-Shot-2018-04-23-at-10.54.14-PM.png" alt="Bye by pesky fly" />

He doesn't want to hurt the fly, he just doesn't want him to keep flying around him.

In simple language, we see how pig solves this problem, by telling the fly that although he didn't mean to, his buzzing around is annoying. This reminds me of the language they taught my daughter in pre-school, when people were hurting her feelings. She was taught to come right out, and say "You are hurting my feelings."

Often the direct approach is best.

And there is a bit in the back of the book for the parents or caregivers that explains the thoughts behind the book.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

This is a great book for both children and their parents (and anyone who works with children)! The story is cute and shows a lot of great ways to handle a situation. The illustrations are done very well! The last part of the book includes helpful tips for caregivers and will help them teach children how to handle annoying situations.
