The Astro the Alien series is a Beginning to Read Book published by Norwood Press. I like this series as it is simple to read and filled with a lot of activities and suggestions at the end to help children develop both reading recognition skills and comprehension skills. In this book Astro and his friends Ben and Eva fly to their grandparent's farm in Astro's space pod. Once they arrive, they get to see the farm at work. From milking cows, shearing sheep to searching for a lost piglet, they get to see many of the farm animals. They even get to visit the neighbouring farms to see not only other animals but buildings and some crops. The illustrations were well done. They are bright, colourful and large so you can see the animals clearly. A good book for a family library and primary classroom. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley. |

I liked how “Astro the Alien Visits Farm Animals” had a bit of mystery or adventure in needing to find the lost piglet. Unique and fun! |

Astro the Alien Visits Farm Animals is written by Emily Sohn and illustrated by Carlos Aon. Within thirty-two pages, this story focuses on Astro the Alien and his friends, as they visit a farm and learn about various animals. Toward the back of the book, there are bonus sections titled as Reading Reinforcement and Word List. According to a note from the publisher, this series "help early readers build on previous skills; expanding vocabulary and learning more complex concepts. Readers will have fun as they go along on adventures with Astro, Ben, and Eva to learn interesting things about science, geography, and history!" Astro the Alien Visits Farm Animals is a children's picture book that's geared toward first to third graders. Astro the Alien Visits Farm Animals is a title intended for early readers, as it intentionally incorporates common sight words. Readers will follow along as Astro the Alien learns about farm animals. While they won't necessarily learn anything new, they will be charmed by the alien's ignorance and they're likely to giggle at his nonsensical questions and comments, and the action turns to finding a lost piglet. The full-page illustrations are colorful. At the close of the book, there are additional ideas for adults if they want to check comprehension. |

Another Astro and friends adventures. This time we explore a farm and the animals that lives in it. Like all the other Astro books, good, educative, a bit simple, but I like the activities in the end that help to verify the comprehension and learn a bit more about word and vocabulary from the story. |

The Astro the Alien series is absolutely fantastic for beginning readers. The illustrations are great. Astro and his friends are extremely cute and provide kids with a completely fun way to learn to read, expand their vocabulary, learn different facts about animals, geography, the environment, etc...and it does all this in a cute sci-fi sort of way that is great for kids and their active imaginations. I highly recommend this series. |

I liked this book better than the Alien in the forest book. The pictures were more fun and the story was good too. Bea and Eva visit their grandparents' farm and learn about farm animals. Astro the Alien is around more and makes it more interesting. good beginning book and the kids will like being smarter than the characters. ha |
