Description

“If there ever was such a thing as a ‘shortcut’ to the wisdom of the ages, you’re holding it in your hands. This is the kind of wisdom that can only be earned over a lifetime of trial and error, trial and error, and, finally, trial and success.”
-Patrick Morley
Author, The Man in the Mirror

“In 2001, I wrote a book called Lies Women Believe. Since then this message has reached millions of women and been translated into dozens of languages. But I’ve often been asked about a ‘male counterpart’ to the book. When God brought Robert into my life in 2015, I soon realized he was the ideal choice to pen this message for men. You’ll find that reading Lies Men Believe, with its warm, relatable style, is like having a conversation with a good friend. Be prepared, in the process, to grapple with some tough issues. And be prepared to experience the liberating power of the Truth—in your own life, and in the lives of those you influence.”
-Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

You are being hunted.

Like a seasoned angler, our enemy opens his tackle box and selects the lure most likely to attract his intended prey—usually the one you and I are least likely to consider harmful. Each lie we bite on causes us to feel pain, lose or injure relationships, and miss out on the abundant life that God wants us to have. Lies Men Believe exposes the lies that men most commonly believe, and shows you how to combat those lies with the truth.

Lies like:

  • Pleasure and Entertainment Can Truly Satisfy Me
  • If I Mean Well, That’s Good Enough
  • If I Discipline My Children, They’ll Rebel.
  • I’m Measured by How I Compare with Other Men.

Find out how lies are holding you back from freedom, joy, and intimacy with God andothers. Discover the power of the truth. Because once you fully embrace the truth, nothing is ever the same.

I really struggled to get into this book, wrong time and wrong place for me to be reading. I will try again, it is well written and really appealed to me to begin with, but I was distracted easily.

Many of your Wive's may be familiar with Nancy Leigh DeMosse's books Lies Women Believe or Lies Young Women Believe. These are fantastic books and help women or all ages to realise that unfortunately they are victims of subtle lies that they have been led to believe and affect the way that they live.
Robert has now written a book for Men which also very ably picks out 40 lies that Men frequently believe or may struggle with.
With the use of personal stories and others, Robert covers areas of Lies that Men may believe about themselves, God, sin, sexuality, marriage and family, work and wealth, circumstances and about the world. He then counters these with the truth, the truth that can set us free!
As a female, I also found Roberts breakdown of these lies and the truth to counter them very helpful.
This would be a great book to read and have on your shelf to share with others.

Yes! I admit that I like to read books for men, I usually read the ones that my husband reads. Also, It is very useful for me to do so, since it is very common for me that women ask me for recommendations for books what to give to the beloved men in their life, husband, children, parents, etc., so I really enjoy knowing this type of material, how much more when I receive it for review, comments or just to give my sincere opinion. Lies that men believe and the truth that makes them free has been a book awaited by many women I know. In fact my opinion is that one of the reasons because they wrote it because of so much demand for it.

I also have to admit that although this one in particular, I had excitemente to read ... it also gave me "fear". Why? Because generally when I read a book like "saga" of successes ... that is to say that it is a "continuation" of a best seller, I have many reservations. MANY. I'll explain more later.

As the material of Nancy Leigh Demoss (now Nancy Demoss Wolgemuth) has had a great and positive impact on my life, and I am SO grateful to God for his life and his investment in me, I decided to immerse myself and see how this book of her husband. This is one of the first books I read of Mr. Wolgemuth. I always assumed it was only a matter of time before they would get a book for men, but I never imagined that Nancy would get married and that this man would be a writer / editor and that he would take on that challenge. I think it will also be a sales success since all of us who were blessed by the female version felt the enthusiasm to read the men's version.

Did I tell you about the new version of: Lies that women believe, revised version: And the truth that makes them free? by Nancy Leigh DeMoss-Wolgemuth is around the corner?! Yes! it launches on September 18, 2018. You can preorder it now!.

Lies that women believe and the truth that makes them free was a very revealing book in my life, I have a big story to tell about it (and so many lies that I believed, you can read more about this in my articles for Revive Our Hearts, in the blog True Woman). I hope that just as it was a blessing for me, this is also a blessing for many men.

Returning to my aversion for the sequels: I had the reservation that it was a book "forced to exist", not natural, and yes very pushed, forced. I'll explain with an example. Someone writes: "Meditations of a happy mom" and it is a success !, the # 1 in sales ... it is almost a fact that they will make a contract for:

"Meditations of a happy dad",
"Meditations of a happy son",
"Meditations of a happy aunt"
"Meditations of a happy uncle"
"Meditations of a happy anything"
"Meditations of a happy niece"
"Meditations of a happy neighbor"
"Meditations of a happy uncle"
"Meditations of a happy pet", etc. ... you already have the idea.

And it turns out that the book ends up being the same, with a few minor modifications. It is a great disappointment when that happens. This is the "fear" I had about this book.

When I received this copy for review and to comment sincerely, I did not know what to expect. I hope my husband can review it soon, to hear his comments too (I do not promise to share them with us).

I must admit that Mr. Wolgemuth knows how to write. Wait for the book on September 4, 2018, which is when it will be launched on the market, you can order it here in advance, the presale saves you 20% of the price it will have at its premiere.

Mr. Wolgemuth can share deep concepts in a simple way. Skill that his wife Nancy also has. What an amazing amount of talent together, when in a couple they both write. I guess they helped each other in the reading tests, revisions, style correction and editing.

The topics that you can find in the book are:

Lies like:
- Pleasure and entertainment can really satisfy me
- That's good enough
- If I discipline my children they will rebel (this lie I have heard so lately in the ministries that I am writing something about it too, Reyna).
- I am measured in relation to comparisons with other men

In the future I want my son to read it!

"Have you fallen into the lies of the enemy? Our enemy can hover like a roaring lion, but his favorite weapon is deception, and whether we admit it or not, we believe him ... a lot." These lies make us feel pain, make we lose or damage relationships and make us lose the abundant life that God wants us to have Lies Men Believe exposes the lies that men most commonly believe and shows them how to fight them with the truth Discover how lies are preventing you from freedom Joy and intimacy with God and others Discover the power of truth Because once you fully embrace the truth, nothing is the same "

uch. 'Lies Men Believe' is a non fiction book. It addresses the lies men have in their thinking and then directly points to what the truth what the thinking should be. This book addresses the concept that We can not earn God''s favor . Our standing with God is based on what God has done for us in dying on the cross. We are created in God's image and not what others say. Another lie is I have a right to be angry when things do not go my way. We do not have a right to be angry. This book is very freeing since it addresses many ways of thinking that can put men in a trap and keep them from moving ahead in their Christian life and their life in general. It is well written and personable The wife of the author wrote the book Lies Women Believe and this book is the men's version . I would recommend this book for pastors, any Christian man. It will help you grown in your life as a Christian. Thank you for netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and write reviews on this book. It was a wonderful opportunity and I appreciate it very m

Good but not great. This book is a sequel to the Nancy DeMoss (now Wolgemuth) bestseller Lies Women Believe, written by her husband Robert. There is some very helpful, challenging stuff here. At times, though, the book felt fairly disconnected and unstructured. I also took issue a couple of times with the interpretation of a few of the Bible passages. All in all, this book could certainly be helpful to any man who reads it, but there are better options out there.

I received a digital copy of this book for free from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I express in this review are entirely my own.

Men deal with the same idea of lies that women do. They also battle with the comparison game as well. Lies Men Believe dives into the forty different lies that men believe within their own lives. This gives biblical encouragement to men and debunks the lies. I love that this was written by a man that struggles with these same lies and really talks about his struggles and how he deals with them biblically. The writing is seamless, so this makes for a great read.

I am not a man, clearly, but as a woman that has read the other two books written by Robert's wife (Lies Women Believe and Lies Young Women Believe) I highly would recommend this to men of all ages. This book gives practical ways to move past the lies and helps men look further into their faith. Great read for a men's ministry indeed.
