A Note From the Publisher
Christopher Holt was born in Exeter in 1941 and has worked in three continents as a teacher, broadcaster, ecologist and administrator. His experiences have inspired his fiction, not through nostalgia but from what he sees as their significance to the present day.
Christopher has a particular interest in exploring how history, religion ecology and geography influence current events, especially in the Middle East. At present he is working on Stand-Starers, a futuristic novel – the first of a trilogy.
Christopher is also the author of three other novels - The Gate of Tears, The Winter-Chaser, and Prayer of the Crow.

Advance Praise
Orphaned Leaves was a finalist in the Exeter Novel Prize in 2015. After considerable re-editing, I entered it for the Bridport Literary Competition a year later and was awarded the Runner’s Up Prize. After a further editing the novel gained First Prize in the Yeovil Literary Award.

'Orphaned Leaves' by Christopher Holt is a unique book because it is written from the perspective of a SS commander of the Reich. SS Brigadefuhrer Ernst Frick later to become Otto Brandt is the protagonist of this book. After murdering a red haired woman with a fox fur he is haunted by his deed. His guilt follows him through life. He also feels guilt because of his part in the Aktion, an operation involving the gathering and murdering of Polish Jews during the Holocaust. I found this book intriguing because I never thought about the men behind the heinous crimes during WWII. This thought provoking book gave me a new perspective on the life of this SS Commander. I recommend this book.
