Description

Has a twist of fate sent her back in time? This is a question which plagues Arianna Ward when she wakes up to find her memory in fragments, like a long forgotten dream.

Everyone claims her name is Annabelle. The year is 1814 and she’s married to Captain Keldon Buchanan, a man who despises her. The more she learns about her life, the more she realizes why she’s chosen to forget it. She’s a liar and an adulteress. She doesn’t understand why she wanted to destroy her marriage when her heart tells her she belongs with Keldon.

Keldon harbors his own secrets. He's the Highland Pirate and secrecy is the difference between life and death. He doesn’t trust his wife, but he finds his heart softening to the woman his wife has become. If he didn’t know better, he’d swear he's married to another woman and he’s fallen in love with her.

Arianna Ward was roped into going to a fortune teller by her friend. After a strange prediction she is struck by a fallen beam and the next thing she knows its 1814 and people keep calling her Annabelle. While her memories of her earlier life is foggy she knows she couldn’t possibly be the horrible woman who everyone fears. She also find it hard to believe she is married to Keldon Buchanan, a man who despises her.
Keldon’s heart was broken once already by Annabelle and he is fighting his attraction to her now. His wife is now calling herself Arianna and seems to be a different woman but it could all just be an act.
This was an enjoyable, quick read with interesting characters and the plot was well defined and moved at a good pace.

I received free copy from Netgalley in exchange for a honest review. This book was definitely different than most books in the genre with the Paranormal time-traveling aspect. Ariana is sent back in time replacing Annabelle in the early 1800s. This is my first time rrading anything by this author and it definitely was a fun way to spend a couple of hours.

I really enjoyed the twist on the classic time travel plot. It was a good read- especially if you love historical fiction and romance.

this is another great read from Karen Michelle Nutt. I read her first series and now I liked this book just as much. She has a unique clean writing style that draws you in and just won't let you put the book down. I read this one in 5 hours. Highly recommend.

Thank you to Netgalley, the Publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in return for my honest opinion and review.

Arianna Ward is hosting an event to raise money for Blue Run House in the present day and is talked into visiting a fortuneteller at the old estate. The fortuneteller gives her a specific but cryptic message; she tells her that she belongs in another time and that she will meet a man with black hair and cat green eyes called the Scotsman, she tells her, "Trust him, for he will protect you. He may feel mistrust for you because of the other woman's black heart, but in time, he will see you for who you really are. He's your soul mate. It is his child you will carry". Arianna is then hit on the head and sent back in time, to Blue Run, taking the place of a black hearted woman named Annabelle. As she tries to maneuver who she is and where she is, we watch as Keldon slowly starts to trust her, thinking this bump on the head must be for the best. Meanwhile Arianna discovers that she, as she thinks she must be Annabelle, was a terrible person, who no regard for anyone but herself. She turns the opinions of everyone around at the end and all ends well, as it should.

Lots of history involved here and I love that the author at the end tells us what sections of the book are true facts. I read a lot of thrillers, but sometimes I crave a feel-good romance and this hit the mark, it had all the things I like for feel-good books, attractive brooding man, a great misunderstanding, a dual storyline or time travel, and a happy ending. I walked away from this book with a happy heart. Yes, there were some editing mistakes and a few errors but none of them were big enough to take away from my enjoyment of the book.

This is the first book I have read from this author, and I would definitely be inclined to read more of her works.
