Another wonderful book in the Little People, Big Dreams series. Oh what a joy this book is for all us Anne of Green Gables fans. It’s so good to find out more about L.M. Montgomery and what inspired her to write. The illustrations are beautiful and the writing easy for a little one to read or listen to. A great way to introduce your child to the Anne series of books. I just loved it!

Lucy Maud Montgomery was a young girl with a passion for writing. Raised by grandparents who didn't see the value in a girl reading or writing, she never gave up her dreams of becoming a writer. She grew up to pursue her passion and become the beloved author of the Anne of Green Gables series, inspired by a news article she read and her own childhood.
Montgomery is an inspiring role model for children, proving again the importance of determination and rising above circumstance. This book is a brief introduction to her life for young readers who will appreciate the lovely illustrations accompanying the story told in short simple sentences.

I am really excited about this book. i loved how well the text went with the illustrations .
But more than anything i believe role models like Lucy Maud Montgomery are so important for children right now. classic books are being read less and less in schools and history is being lost.
Modern roll models have changed a huge amount and are not always who all of us would like our children to aspire to.
Lucy Maud Montgomery shows how following her dreams despite everything pays off.
I would love to read more in this series "Little people, big dreams" and will certainly read them with my children.

This is an adorable and wonderful book! A must-have! Beautiful illustrations accompany by a lovely story. The text is simple but it truly flows as a sweet and engaging story. It's amazing!

Anne of Green Gables was one of my favorite movies growing up and the book ranks among my favorite classics. I never realized how autobiographical Montgomery made the series. Any child who loves Anne will love learning about L.M. Montgomery's life.

"Anne of Green Gables" is one of my favorite books. I even had some of my senior pictures taken with a copy of the book that I own.
Through this book, "Lucy Maud Montgomery", I learned a lot about the author of "Anne of Green Gables" and how she came up with Anne's story.
This series of books is my favorite for kids and I enjoy them as well.

This is the second Little People, Big Dreams book I have read, and I love them.

These books have such a great message for kids.
Even though she faced adversity Maud wanted to be a writer. She worked hard and became one of the most well loved Canadian authors of all time.
Her story also shows kids the importance of family and empathy, that even though Maud decided to leave her job to go home and take care of her grandmother, that did not stop her from achieving her dreams.

A charming quick read giving children an overview of Montgomery's life. The one complaint I have is some of the illustrations are lacking. They could have at least been period appropriate. For example, a few show LMM in a mid leg skirt, which she definitely would not have been wearing during the time frame the illustration is referring.

This series is always a joy to read, it’s a really nice introduction to well known women for little children. Of course the plot is always a little bit fast but that’s to be expected and it’s totally understandable.
It was lovely to read about this author's life since I didn't know much about it. It's a really nice introduction to Lucy Maud Montgomery's world and a good way to encourage children to read one of her most famous works, the phenomenal "Anne of Green Gables".

Another simply great book in this series! I wasn't aware of Lucy's story but enjoyed reading it, it has also made me want to read Anne of Green gables too!

In a fresh volume of the series Little People, Big Dreams, Isabel Sánchez Vegara introduces the young readers to the life of Anne Shirley's creator. Her way of narration makes the story interesing and easy to follow for the young intended audience.

The illustrations, staying true to what we got used to with this series, are soft and chracteristic. As for the storyline, Vegara has chosen to show us some decisive moments of Montgomery's life.

Even though Anne Shirley has been a favourite with me for years, I knew shamefully little about the life of her author, and this little book has now piqued my curiosity. I didn't knew that Anne and Montgomery has so much in common, and now I cannot stop until I put my hands on a biography about L.M. Montgomery.

If the kids become half as interested as I am due to this book, Vegara has achieved all a writer can wish for. Her books provide an excellent way to make our children familiar with the writers of classic stories.

Sweet and inspiring, this book is perfect as both a biography and a storytime readaloud. Highly recommended.

Every month I impatiently wait for news of new books in this series. This time I was delighted to see L.M. Montgomery as a subject. If anyone out there does not know, L.M. Montgomery wrote one of the (and my) most beloved childhood books, Anne of Green Gables. That story about an impulsive, loving young girl who brought new life to brother and sister, Matthew and Marilla, is full of the wonders of friendship, nature and life's daily challenges. How did Miss Montgomery create the novel? This book explains that young Maud wrote a story of the childhood that she wished she had experienced. In doing so, she brought joy to countless children and the adults who read to them.

In this entry in the Little People, Big Dreams series, young readers will get to know Maud, understand her early years and see the spirit that moved her toward her dream of becoming a published author.

I always enjoy each of Isabel Sanchez Vegara's Little People books. I especially enjoyed this one having been a fan of Anne Of Green Gables. I was never aware of the circumstances that made up Lucy Maud Montgomery's life so this book was informative to me as an adult, as well as to my child.

L. Montgomery was someone I knew nothing about, however I had heard of Anne of Green Gables. I loved hearing about her background and the inspiration behind her writing. It’s also wonderful to see that it wasn’t a smooth path and she overcame obstacles to fulfil her dream.

I think I may have just fallen head over heels in love with a children’s picture book. In this series, María Isabel Sánchez Vegara charts the lives of incredible women throughout history from their start as just young children with big dreams, to people who changed the world. Honestly, it is wonderful - we need to show children that they can follow in these people’s footsteps; that they can reach for the stars and become whoever they want to be. And, Lucy Maud Montgomery's (the fantastic author of Anne of Green Gables) story is perfect to teach children to say a figurative screw-you to all the people in their lives who try to limit them.
Read it for your children, read it for yourself - just read it and be inspired.

I loved reading that the author preferred going by Maud, emphasizing it was spelled without an "e"! It instantly reminded me of Anne (with an e!) of Green Gables.
Before reading this book I didn't realize how much of Anne Shirley's story and little quirks were inspired by her creator's own life.

The illustrations are very cheerful and vibrant, and drawn in a very specific style. It almost feels like they were colored in with crayons, which of course gives it a perfect feel for a children's book.
The use of color is whimsical and enchanting with the purple roofs, blue houses and bright pink leaves on striped tree branches.

First, I loved that cover, a baby picture of Maud for baby readers. Isn’t that cute?

Since I have read Anne of Green Gables, I have been fan of L.M. Montgomery. I read bio of the author on Goodreads and through many other medium so I knew little bit about this great author. But when I saw this title in my auto approval galleys it was hard to let it sit there unread. I wanted to see what author has included in this little picture book meant for children. And I must say I’m not disappointed at all.

The concept of the series was fascinating and that description above says a lot. There wasn’t any extended portion as mentioned in description for hardcover, so the format I read must be a board book as it was very short but definitely wonderful.

It was colorful book telling the life story of Maud. Illustrations were beautiful. I liked that little picture of Maud illustrator created. I could see lot of similarities between Maud and her character Anne. Both fascinated by books, diving amusing names to everything in Prince Edward Island and became a teacher. It was great to read small facts and I admit few I didn’t even know until I read this. How she got idea for her book ‘Anne of Green Gables’ and how she rewrote her childhood through Anne was great to know.

In the end there is brief biography telling the whole story of Maud with her b/w pictures which were pretty. Did you know she liked to be called Maud even though it’s her surname? I didn’t! I wish there was more about the author but it was perfectly fine for children aged 4+ yrs.

It was a good impressive way to introduce kids to one the great historical woman and author of the time. I’m sure they would love the book that will inspire them to learn more about L.M. Montgomery and her books in future. There are other books of the series on Jane Austen and Agatha Christie that I would love to read and many famous women in history. It is truly empowering series that will fascinate young reader and teacher would love to teach in classroom.

Overall, it was quick, easy read. I definitely recommend this book to all kids and teachers.

The Little People, Big Dreams books are delightful. This book about Lucy Maud Montgomery is great. I loved the text and illustrations equally. Elementary school readers will learn about Ms. Montgomery without being overwhelmed. Adults will enjoy the book with their children because it is just that good. I particularly loved the page where she dreamed of Anne. I will be happily sharing this book with my daughter.

Lucy Maud Montgomery is a sweet little picture book/biography about the wonderful author who brought us Anne of Green Gables. I didn't realize how much of Anne's story came from Montgomery's own life experience, so that was interesting to discover!

This was my first time reading a book from the Little People, Big Dreams series, but I'll definitely be watching for more of these stories in the future! A lovely new installment in the Little People, Big Dreams series. I enjoyed learning about the early life of the author of our beloved Anne of Green Gables. Fans of the Netflix series will be delighted to discover this non-fiction gem.

This book is adorable. It is a great children's book. It tells the story of L.M. Montgomery and how she became a writer. I like the illistrations and the story. I will be looking at the other books in this series.

I really like the concept of these series of books as they each feature a woman who made a significant contribution to society. The books give a brief history with illustrations of the person featured , in this case author L.M. Montgomery. In my opinion the series best appeals to kids in the 4-7 age range. Some of the women featured in other books include Anne Frank, Rosa Parks, Ella Fitzgerald, Frida Kahlo, and Mother Teresa.

L.M. Montgomery created the iconic character, Anne Shirley, who is so dear to many of us readers. This book provides a little bit of biographic info on the author and her childhood as well as what led to her writing the Anne of Green Gables books. The illustrations are colorful and appealing, other than the grandmother's nose which I thought resembled a pig snout. This is the type of book that is really fun to share with a child as they get to learn about someone who was special to you when you were growing up.

This one covers the author of Anne of Green Gables who also authored many, many other books including sequels. Montgomery had a rather troubled childhood in that her mother died before Montgomery turned two, and her father felt incapable of raising a child. He immediately put her into the care of her maternal grandparents, who were rather cool towards Lucy. When she was seven, her father left to work elsewhere, making Lucy a very lonely child, so she made up imaginary friends and had a rich fantasy life to go with them.

It's this imagination which led her into writing, something she was very interested in from a young age despite some setbacks. When she had Anne of Green Gables published it was such a roaring success that she never looked back, focusing on fulltime writing, at which she was very prolific. This book does an admirable, if slightly fanciful job of depicting this writer's childhood and her determination to succeed, and I commend it as a worthy read for young children. We need serious writers and if this inspires more of them it can only be a good thing.

I love this series of little picture books about famous women. They are all well researched, and for the most part, they are all beautifully illustrated. This is another lovely on, this time on the author of "Anne of Green Gables."

I knew a little about the history of L.M. Montgomery, but I did not know she worked a newspaper. I knew she was raised by her grandparents, but didn't realize that they didn't want her to spend time reading and writing.

An utter pleasure to read! Fans of plucky Anne of Green Gables will love to follow the story of LM Montgomery from her Anne-like imaginative childhood, to her perseverance and success as an adult. Children will enjoy it and so will any grown up that comes across this fantastic book.

This is a gorgeous little book about the life of Lucy Maud Montgomery, author of Anne of Green Gables. It is aimed at young children, specifically 4-7 year olds. The pictures are delightful with a pretty and imaginative approach and plenty of colour. The story is simple but inspiring and should be suitable for the vast majority of children. It is about a little girl who really wants to be a writer and despite lack of encouragement manages to succeed, rewriting her unhappy childhood through her famous heroine. It encourages perseverance and hard work and is the perfect length for a bedtime story. A charming read.

This is one of the better entries in this series. The art is cute, and the story is clear and interesting, but simple enough for young kids.

A really simple but complete biography about one of my favourite childhood authors. My 9 year old enjoyed the collage-like illustrations & finding the little details.
As for myself, I learnt more about Maud & her early childhood. We'll be moving onto the suggested extra reading - a really nice touch.

This Little People, Big World series is outstanding! I have seen a few Littens on Litsy reviewing these books, and I simply knew I had to check them out. Sadly, my library doesn't have any of the collection... so you can imagine how excited I was to see these books on NetGalley. I have read about 4-5 others on NetGalley, and I simply adore them. The books are short, sweet, and beautifully illustrated. They are colorful, and exciting and they make learning fun for young children. I have always loved Ann of Green Gables, so I simply devoured this one. I hope I can find the whole collection for my nieces and nephews... and maybe one or two of my favourites for myself.

I think of my first favorite book series' was Anne of Green Gables. There was just something so interesting about her story. I didn't know much about the author, L.M. Montgomery so this Little People BIG DREAMS book taught me something new. It makes sense why she would want to escape into the world of writing and why she did such a good job at it with such an early interest and big imagination. I think that kids will love this book and maybe be inspired to read Anne of Green Gables as well.

This books give a little bit of information about the early life of L.M. Montgomery. This is a great book for fans of Montgomery's books. I love the connection it shows between her and Anne. The illustrations are simple and very cute.

Even as a fan of literature, I knew very little about Lucy Maud Montgomery. Children and parents will enjoy this new addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series. Montgomery was a resilient, intelligent child - and she'll inspire yet another generation of readers when they meet her in this book.

I've enjoyed the titles I've read so far in the Little People, Big Dreams series, and was glad to see one on the life of L. M. Montgomery, best known as the author of the Anne of Green Gables books.

This book, like others in the series, is written for very young children, and so is selective about the details and degree of information included. But I felt like I got a decent picture of Montgomery's life and what drove her and interested her as a child and beyond.

Despite creating one of the most endearing characters in children's literature, Montgomery's childhood was fairly lonely and sad. After losing both parents (in different ways), she lived with her grandparents who were not very affectionate, and young Maud (as she was called) had to create her own joy. It sounds like her writing was a way to not only express her loneliness, but also to imagine a better and fuller life.

One can't help but see glimpses of Anne Shirley herself here, even in this very abbreviated biography. It presents a hopeful picture of the power of persistence and imagination.

n yet another entry of the “Little People Big Dreams” series, we get the first one about a historical person I didn’t know.
Right away she’s adorable with her redheaded pigtails.
Considering what a rough life she had—mother dying, father abandoning her, grumpy grandparents—she somehow managed to have a happy childhood, which seems like a bigger lesson than her career as a writer.

Montgomery's story is presented in a clear way for young readers with a hint of the personality we see in Anne Shirley. I think these are great books for kids who have an interest in nonfiction. I would definitely recommend this book.

Oh, how I loved this little treasure! I have seen other titles in the "Little People, BIG DREAMS" series at my public library, and I was delighted to see that a title on the life of L.M. Montgomery, one of my favorite authors, would be added to the series.
The title is a juvenile biography, geared towards elementary school-aged children. The illustrations are in beautiful tones and enhance this short memoir of L.M. Montgomery's life, showing parallels with her childhood and those of Anne from Anne of Green Gables. While not a very long book, it ends with a list of references to other titles if the reader would like more information on L.M. Montgomery.

I never knew the story of Lucy "Maud" Montgomery who wrote Anne of Green Gables. This is a heartwarming story of a young girl who wanted to be a writer in the days where women were not writers. Her determination and not giving up made her a very popular writer even today. Her sad upbringing inspired her books and stories about Anne as well as a newspaper article she read. My daughter grew up reading about Anne and her adventures. This is a great story for children and to learn not give up on your dreams. It is also good for a school report. The illustrations are well done and deplict the time well. I would recommend this book for 7+ or adults who want to find out how Anne of Green Gables was created.

New in the Little People, Big Dreams series, discover the incredible life of Lucy Maud Montgomery. The text and illustrations show Lucy as a child standing with her grumpy grandparents, watching her father sail away after the death of his wife. Maud (as she preferred to be called) loved reading, but her grandparents thought it was a waste of time. Because she no longer had books to read, she began to write her own stories. This continued as she grew older and worked as a teacher. When she returned to her village to care for her grandmother after her grandfather's death, she read about an elderly couple in the newspaper. They had wanted to adopt a young boy to help on their farm, but getting a girl instead. From that news article, the story of Anne of Green Gables was born. This is a child friendly biography with delightful illustrations. It is a story that shows a young woman striving to achieve her dream. This book could be used to teach young children how to write a biography, show that it is important to have a dream and strive to achieve it as well as to introduce a great Canadian author to a new generation. I really enjoyed this book as I have had read the Anne of Green Gable books, watched several movies and television shows, been to LM Montgomery's birthplace and seen Anne of Green Gables performed in Charlottetown. This summer I read a biography of Lucy Maud Montgomery; while I'd been a fan of her novels, I didn't know anything about her personal life. It was enlightening to see how much of her life made it into her works, sometimes as idealized events and redeemed outcomes from her actual life experience.

When I saw L. M. Montgomery by Isabel Sanchez Vegara in the Little People, Big Dreams series, I had to read it. I wondered how they would condense events into material accessible and engaging to younger readers.

It is beautifully done. The illustrations are engaging and accurately convey pivotal moments in Maud's life and there's a good balance between text and pictures on each page. The only published work of hers mentioned by name is Anne of Green Gables, but as that is her iconic work, it's appropriate for it to be the focus and for details of her inspiration to be mentioned.

One small quibble I had revolves around when the book mentions her accepting a job at the post office in order to submit stories without anyone else being aware. In truth, the post office was run out of her grandmother's home, where Maud was raised, so while Maud did help with the post office, this book makes it seem like she sought it out when in fact, she was stepping up to help out as her grandmother aged. A perk was being able to send out stories, but that wasn't the primary reason she helped out.

There are multiple titles in the Little People, Big Dreams series, and this is another winner.

I am a big fan of the 'Little People, Big Dreams' books so I was very happy to see one about Lucy Maud Montgomery, better known as L. M. Montgomery.

This book walks us through the life of L. M. Montgomery, known to her friends and family as Maud (without an 'e'!). It is a great tale of perseverance and never giving up on your dreams.

This book would be a perfect accompaniment to Anne of Green Gables as it tells the story of how Maud came up with the character and plot, as well as the struggles she faced trying to get the book published.

I had no idea L.M. Montgomery was so similar to Anne Shirley! This woman is obviously a great role model in a lot of ways and it's a good story for young girls to read with their parents.

The illustrations are appropriate and expressive. The wording is appropriate for a read aloud or a late 1st-grade or 2nd grade reader. There are some grammatical tricky parts (not incorrect, just hard to comprehend on ones own as an early reader), so it would be good to make sure the book is read multiple times.

Although short in length the succinct evocative prose and charming illustrations actually made me go out and obtain a copy of Anne of Green Gables which I suppose is testament to the effect it had on me and perhaps it will have the same result on the young readers for which the book is ultimately aimed at. The book will make for the young first time reader a good introduction to the Green Gables Complete Collection by L. M. Montgomery and will show how Montgomery's lonely childhood starved of love and affection would lead her to create imaginary friends and worlds to cope with her loneliness. In essence Anne of Green Gables would be the recreation of a childhood world that was denied to the author.

This book forms part of a series celebrating "the important life stories of wonderful women of the world". Personally I'm not sure I would go as far as describing Montgomery (as cited in the book's description) as a "role model" for in reality her life was far from idyllic for she suffered from depression, had to care for her mentally ill husband for decades and there is speculation that she may have taken her own life through a drug overdose accompanied by the fact that her career was plagued by publishing and film disputes but overriding this her books will continue to be regarded as classic literature and hopefully this brief look at the life of L. M. Montgomery will perhaps inspire new readers to explore her writings.

I loved this! I like to read my daughters stories about Canadian women and since Kait is interested in telling stories already, she was especially inspired by the story.

I am a huge fan of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s work, so I was thrilled to see this biography about her included in the Little People, Big Dreams series. The illustrations are lovely, and the writing is succinct and powerful, perfect for young readers. I hope that this book will spark interest in children to read Anne of Green Gables, and I will present them side by side in my classroom. I found this book to be a heart-warming and positive account of a strong, determined female author.

L.M. Montgomery is a new young reader book in the series Little People, Big Dreams. Written by Mª Isabel Sánchez Vegara and illustrated by Anuska Allepuz, it was released 2nd Oct, 2018 by Quarto publishing Frances Lincoln imprint. Aimed at younger readers, it's 32 pages, perfect for a storytime or classroom circle read. It's available in ebook and hardcover formats.

This entire series really impresses me with its biographies of women who lived quite difficult lives and experienced opposition, racism, threats of violence and other things which might not be entirely suitable for young kids. The way the books are written doesn't completely avoid or sugarcoat what they lived through; it also doesn't present it in a way I would be uncomfortable reading to my own or others' kids.

In this particular book in the series, young Maud suffers the early loss of her mother and her father leaves her in the care of her grandparents, who provided for her physically but were remote and generally not affectionate. She turned to her prodigious imagination and the incredible nature around her to keep her company in her isolation.

The art supports and enhances the simple, stark history beautifully.

Five stars for the book and the series.

'L.M. Montgomery (Little People, Big Dreams)' by Ma Isabel Sanchez Vegara with art by Anuska Allepuz is a picture book about the author of Anne of Green Gables, among other things.

When Lucy Maud Montgomery was very young, her mother died, and her father left her in the care of her grandparents. She felt a bit out of place, but she liked to explore and she had a good imagination. She also liked to read and write, even though she was told those things were a waste of time for a girl. This didn't stop her and she wrote in secret, and continued to write. Eventually, she gave the world a memorable character in Anne Shirley.

Included at the end of the book is a timeline of L.M. Montgomery's life. Like other books in the series, this one is interesting and uplifting. I really love the different art styles of the books and this one is no different. Anuska Allepuz' art is bright and cheerful.

Who knew?

Despite being an avid fan of the Anne of Green Gables series from primary age-to the extent that I named every corner, allotment, alley and passage on my return journey from school- I previously had no idea that so much of the main character's experiences actually alluded to those of the author. Within the few bright pages of this entry in the Little People, Big Dreams series, I got to know Maud; not only the experiences of her early years but how they moulded her and influenced her to become a children's author.
My daughter is now immersing herself in Montgomery's world and I shall be using this tiny tome to enlighten her as she reads.

Little People Big Dreams: L.M. Montgomery is a picture book biography about Canadian author L. M. Montgomery. This is a very simple biography, as it leaves out much of Montgomery"s life, but it serves as a perfect introduction for young readers to one of the world"s most beloved authors. The story behind the creation of Anne of Green Gables is shared as well. I love the Little People Big Dreams series, but the illustrations in this installment were not my favorite.

This is the story of a woman who many have not heard of but would know her most famous creation, Anne of Green Gables. I love reading this series of books and find them absolutely gorgeous and a delight to read.

A beautiful edition to the Little People, Big Dreams series. It's lovely to read about L.M. Montgomery's life and inspirations for writing, especially if you loved Anne of Green Gables as a kid!

This book is a part of a series being done about successful women in history. As a Canadian I'm very excited to see Lucy Maud Montgomery included. The author of Anne of Green Gables is a huge part of Canadian history (especially in getting Prince Edward Island (PEI) on the map). Additionally Montgomery wrote at a time about friendship in a way that had never really been seen.
In fact today I think many writers could benefit from a re-read of Montgomery's many works in Anne's universe to be reminded of how to write a story that doesn't focus entirely on a love story.
This cute little book is perfect for those who love Anne of Green Gables or as an introduction to Montgomery and her wonderful series. Afterall most of Anne's stories are those of Montgomery herself (as you will learn in this book).

This series never disappoints and the life of L.M. Montgomery was no exception. Giving children real life heroes to learn about and be inspired by is a perfect way to have quality non-fiction in your classroom or home. The engaging and fun illustrations make the book way to read. The simple text makes the book accessible for very young readers. The combination of the two makes for a perfect read. The joy the book about Montgomery brought was that it showed that being a writer is a real job.

This is another brilliant addition to this series – even as an adult I look out for the next book in the series being released. I love the images in this series and this is a delightful introduction to Lucy Montgomery.

They are excellent introductions to some of the well-known, and less well-known, characters that have had a great impact in our lives through a variety of subjects such as literature, women’s rights and science.

The perfect introduction to the beloved author of Anne of Green Gables! This series is one of the best out there. I love how it highlights influential women.

The life story of Lucy Maud Montgomery will teach kids about the power of creativity, the love of reading and writing stories. Moreover, just like her famous book character, Anne of Green Gables, and Maud's determination to never give up on chasing one's dream is a great example to all readers, especially to young ones. This is another amazing installment to the Little People, Big Dreams series and I highly recommend this to parents and teachers, as this kind of book is an outstanding teaching material that is a must in every school and public libraries.

Another brilliantly simple introduction to a famous woman who made her mark on history. Aside from knowing of Anne of Green Gables I knew very little of the author. This colourful Andy brief account of her life told me much of what I needed to know, including where the idea for The character of Anne came from.

Like other books in the series, Lucy Maude Montgomery first gives a story-style biography of the important points in the author’s life and is followed by a Slightly padded out ‘adult’ biography with photographs of the author. There were then some ideas of what to read, and even visit next to find out more.

This series is brilliant and I’ll be recommending the specific books to an child who expresses an interest in subjects associated with the figures depicted in the books.

This "Little People, Big Dreams" series is absolutely gorgeous and a great way to teach and inspire the little kids. The illustrations speak on their own that there isn't much need for work. An absolute delight to read and great book for the little ones.

Another fabulous entry into the Little People Big Dreams series. This is now unquestionably a must have for primary school libraries. The whole series is bright, colourful and interesting. This little look into the life and work of Lucy Maud Montgomery is lovingly put together and gives just enough depth to inform without going overboard and boring young readers. This is an unusual person to focus on as her work isn't exactly something all children are likely to be aware of. However, this book serves as away of introducing or furthering a possible look at Anne of Green Gables, or as a standalone look at one of the great female writers of the last century.

A worthy edition to an already excellent little series.

I loved this story about the birth of Anne of Green Gables. To think that L. M. Montgomery was envisioning her own wanted life when she created that precocious little girl. And while it sits firmly as a classic today, that once it was rejected by 14 publishers. This book is not rejected. It a fun and fascinating look at the life of a woman who brought special life to another through the written word.

This adorable book about one of my favorite authors, Lucy Maud Montgomery, was a big hit in our house. From the charming and engaging illustrations that my boys loved to the thoughtful story which gave even me new insights into Lucy Maud Montgomery’s life. We can’t wait to read more from the Little People, Big Dreams series! Grab a copy for a little one who loves books or wants to be an author for sure.

Another in this fantastic series teaching both kids and adults alike about the many amazing women out there, and that you should always be willing to chase your dreams. This one did have special meaning for me, being a big fan of L. M. Montgomery. Whilst there were parts of her life glossed over (for the young audience), it’s great to see a new generation being taught about such a wonderful author.

Part of an already lovely series of Little People Big Dreams, this entry about L. M. Montgomery is excellent. Maud’s story is told in a way accessible for young children, highlighting some of her similarities with her eventual star character of Anne of Green Gables. The accompanying art brings the story to life.
I will be recommending this to my library's children's materials selector.

Little People, Big Dreams is such a lovely series and this latest edition, L.M. Montgomery, does not disappoint. Though I’ve not read any of her work (gasp!), I used to watch the original tv series starring Megan Follows (who will always, always be Anne to me!), so Anne of Green Gables is near and dear to my heart.

Aside from highlighting the life and accomplishments of an esteemed female author, I love this book because it might inspire some more children to read her stories. In fact, I’m now inspired not only to go back and re-watch the original tv series, but to finally read the series. But I digress…

As an adult and avid reader, I’m always excited to learn more about the lives of authors. Once again, I learned a great deal about L.M. Montgomery while reading this book. However, what is particularly pertinent for children is her persistence and positive attitude. Despite a less than stellar childhood, she found a way to make herself happy and tenaciously pursued her dreams. That’s an example we can all learn from.
