Description

Returning to Laguna Beach after four tours in the Middle East, Christian Wolfe leaves the military behind and buys a wine bar, vowing to keep his life simple. He fights to keep his devastating PTSD a secret and refuses to burden anyone else with his baggage. When stunning Kelly Prescott and her red stilettos saunter into town, she drives him past the bonds of his self-control.

Successful in her father’s stuffy law firm, Kelly’s too compassionate to survive in the cutthroat world of corporate litigation. Leaving behind both family and courtroom drama, she moves to Laguna to become general counsel for a nonprofit veterans’ organization.

She didn’t bargain on a gorgeous modern-day Heathcliff, and in Christian, she sees another kind of challenge—one she can’t resist.

This looks like book 3 in a series. It is a new author for me and I have not read the previous other books. I liked it a lot but things do move forward and then a few steps are taken back. IT also is extremely a slow burn story and these two don't get together until very late in the book.

Christian is the issue. He is a proud man and after 4 military tours he has very violent PTSD. He looks normal on the poutside but inside he ia wreck. The issue is he doesn't want to admit that. Until Kelly comes along and a dog who helps calm him.

Kelly is a lawyer who hates her job so she quits, moves to Laguna and gets a job with a military organization. She has a major thing for Christian. But Christian keeps running from her because of episodes of PTSD. I liked her a lot but I did not luke how Christian treats her and she just comes back for more.

So while I felt the book was well written and I did enjoy reading it. At times I did not like Christian and how he treats Kelly.
