An intrepid journalist confronts a small town’s dark secrets in Come and Get Me, a breakneck thriller for fans of Tess Gerritsen and Julia Keller.

At Indiana University, someone’s been studying the female student body: their dating customs, nocturnal activities—and how long they can survive in captivity.

When award-winning journalist Caitlin Bergman is invited back to campus to receive an honorary degree, she finds an opportunity for a well-earned victory lap—and a chance to face the trauma that almost destroyed her as an undergrad. But her lap becomes an all-out race when a student begs her to probe an unsolved campus disappearance: Angela Chapman went out one Friday night and never came back.

To find the missing woman, Caitlin must join forces with a local police detective and the department that botched her own case so long ago. But while Caitlin follows the clues behind Angela’s disappearance, someone else is following her…

Caitlin Bergman has never forgotten what happened to her in college, but she’s managed to build a very successful career as a journalist. Now she’s been invited back to her alma mater to receive an honorary degree. She’s hoping her time there will help her lay old ghosts to rest, but instead she gets embroiled in the case of a missing student. Reminded all to well of her own ordeal, she makes a connection with a local detective on the case, never forgetting his department is the same one that destroyed her own case years earlier. But Caitlin is older and wiser this time, and she’s not going to back down or go away quietly, even if it means risking her own life. Norman constructs an intricate mystery and places a strong, independent woman in the center to let her save not only another woman, but herself as well

I received an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Caitlin Bergman, international best seller and journalist. Twenty years ago she left Indiana University because she was rape and now she back to receive her graduate diploma. As she deal with her demons she decide to write her own story about her rape. It just to sad that women out here are to afraid to come forward when sexually assaulted in fear of not being believe and having it turn back on you.

As she get sidetrack from her own story she agree to help a fellow journalist find her missing friend who went missing two years earlier as they dig deeper they expose a drug ring.

The story doesn't end there because you have another twist Caitlin seems to have a stalker which will lead her into finding what really happen to a missing Angela Chapman.

This is such a good read I didn't put it down until I was finish, it had great twist and turns with strong female character who had her demons but continue to try overcome them can't wait for the next book.

PS
I hope in the next book she give it to the Cops and FBI because they were pissing me off.

You know when you've been in a funk and just can't get attached to anything you read?

Yeah, that won't happen when you read Come and Get Me by August Norman.

I started reading one night when I couldn't sleep. That was a mistake. I finally stopped ready by 5am ... lol. Yes, I was a tad tired the next day, but it was totally worth it.

Come and Get Me is tight, enticing, seductive with its taunts and twists - every time I thought I knew what was happening, that I'd peeled back the layers and understood where the author was taking me on this journey, I found out I was wrong. This is a psychological suspense novel that doesn't disappoint. I was immediately sucked into the backstory of journalist Caitlin Bergman - perhaps because I understood the demons she fought - and felt enticed to get to know her more. She wasn't person, screwed up a lot, but was more real than a lot of characters I've bee reading lately.

I really enjoyed August Norma's writing style. It pulled me in without weighing me down. His writing was tight, descriptive and I found myself going back over sentences and phrases because of the depth in them. When I say this story is seductive with it's taunts and twists...I mean it. The author pulls you in, wraps you tight in the embrace of his words and then teases and taunts you while taking you on a twisted journey.

Do I recommend this book? Absolutely. Pre-order it now. Honestly. Don't wait.

This was a great novel, first in a series, about a damaged journalist, a missing girl, and Indiana University. What’s not to love? Author August Norman skillfully weaves Bloomington, IN landmarks and watering holes throughout. From Lennie’s to Kilroy’s to Nick’s, the best of IU culture is represented as Caitlin Bergman returns to receive her degree after 20 years, and stays to solve a missing person case. There is a great deal of action and suspense, and I appreciate the publisher and NetGalley allowing me to be an early reader in exchange for my honest review. Can’t wait for book #2!

I absolutely loved this novel. It’s a fabulously written story. This is a fast paced thriller. The author kept me guessing throughout the entire book. It has a masterfully plotted storyline and a tough, relatable woman as its central character. Caitlin, is a woman who intensely seeks justice and battles back against the men who try to make her a victim. Great read. I loved it. My thanks to Netgalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book I couldn't put it down. It had me on the edge of my seat. It had me in suspense. A really good read would recommend everyone to read this book

I'm truly impressed with this book. It was a riveting, twisted and unputdownable book. I was completely hooked right from the start; this book gave me all the thrills and chills I look for in a suspense/thriller while also leaving me on the edge with its accurate and such realistic portrayal of emotions.
This book is about Catlin Bergman, an award-winning journalist who returns to her university to receive an honorary award but ends up getting tangled with an old case concerning a missing student. While Caitlin, being the genius that she is, follows the clues to solving the disappearance of the student, little does she know she puts herself on the hunter's radar. I really love how the characters in this book are built and depicted, the emotions they undergo and their responses to life-changing events. The last of chapter 33 really got to me (You'll know once you read this book)!
I also found the cover of this book to be really intriguing yet creepy!
I highly recommend this book and author and will eagerly look forward to the next book by August Norman!
I got a copy of this book from NetGalley and this is my honest review.

This book is incredible! I couldn’t put it down (and when I had to, I was thinking about it and where it might be going). A fast-paced thriller that follows a damaged reporter from her troubled past to her present demons. When she thinks she’s helping a young apprentice work on a story that hits close to home, she quickly falls center of it and becomes part of the narrative. You will not be disappointed.

A chilling psychological thriller debut:
This novel serves to shake any misconceptions that students are safe on campus. Predators are drawn to all walks of modern-day life and University Campuses are no exception.
“Come and Get me” introduces us to Caitlin Bergman, bestselling investigative author. Twenty years earlier Caitlin was raped and left marred with the psychological scars which accompany such an assault. The culprit was caught and jailed, but she agreed to file charges for a lesser crime than rape. She deeply regrets her decision to do so and blames the police investigators at the time. She returns to receive her diploma from the Uni where the rape took place and agrees to help investigate a missing persons case.
Two years earlier a student, Angela Chapman, went missing after a night of drunkenness and drugs. The two prime suspects were with her all evening and their account of their movements that night have great holes in them. Nonetheless they’ve never been charged. As Caitlin investigates Angela Chapman’s disappearance, the murkier the waters get. Another girl goes missing and it appears a serial abductor / killer is on the loose. Meanwhile a spooky stalker is after Caitlin herself. Will Caitlin locate Angela, and will she be dead or alive? Will Caitlin survive the attentions of her stalker? Are they the same perp? (The fact that this is Book One of the Caitlin Bergman Series gives a clue to the answer.)
A riveting read which highlights the dangers faced by students, both male and female, when they enter an environment which they regard as relatively safe from crime. The widely spread use of drugs introduces dangers some predictable and some not. August Norman flags up “the high level of non-consensual sexual penetration” assaults prevalent on higher education campuses. Campuses are far from a safe environment when the use of drugs is so widespread.
The novel also explores police and federal authority attitudes to crimes against students. This is a gritty and educational novel, which contains some graphic detail of rape and assault. Not for the feint-hearted. That aside a novel with a message and a gripping read.

August Norman’s debut offering, Come and Get Me, a Caitlin Bergman Novel, is a break neck tale that hits all the thriller hot buttons, with gusto. Norman’s artfully woven plot, smart, funny prose and his heroine, Caitlin Bergman, stole my weekend. You can either clear your schedule before you turn the first page or Norman will do it for you.
The novel begins with Caitlin’s return to Bloomington, Indiana, her first in twenty years, to receive an honorary degree from the university she left just four months shy of graduation. Like most honorary degree recipients, journalist Caitlin Bergman has spent the intervening years excelling in her field and making a name for herself. Luckily for the sleepy college town, Caitlin decides to face some old demons during her visit, thus putting her in the perfect position to dig in to a two-year old missing person’s case. As it goes in crime novels, secrets are revealed, hunches get followed and criminals (really, really awful ones, in this case) are exposed, keeping the reader hooked for the duration.
To me, the most remarkable facet of Norman’s storytelling is the way the author plunks us in to the middle of Caitlin’s story. Not this story-, the novel Come and Get Me, but her story. Caitlin Bergman comes to us fully formed, with all the layers and delicious depth a reader is lucky to find in a third installment, without any tedious info-dump. The backstory we do get is full of action and intrigue which the author deftly uses to show us he knows exactly who Bergman is and is delighted to introduce her to the world. Now that we’ve met, I long to drink beer and eat pizza with Caitlin but, I’ll have to settle for tapping my foot as I wait for the next Caitlin Bergman novel.

A riveting thriller, "Come and Get Me" introduces us to a brave new heroine while also shining a light on the dark underside of campus life at a Big Ten school. Norman's debut novel is constructed as solidly as a Midwestern farmhouse. And the world-wise investigative reporter at the heart of the story is the perfect protagonist for this Trumpian epoch of fake news and anti-journalist bombast.

The plotting is tight. The set-pieces exquisite. The characters nuanced, complex, and compelling -- so much so that when the violence breaks out and bad things happen, you worry as though your own friends or family were at risk. In other words, this isn't your average, comfy-cozy, by-the-numbers effort. Norman's learned understanding of crime fiction tropes -- and his dedicated research into the real events that inspired the book -- have allowed him to produce a work that transcends the genre in the best possible way. And then there's the climactic twist that you never see coming. All the more impressive for being his first published novel, "Come and Get Me" is a book built to last -- and one likely to inspire a host of imitators.

Caitlin Bergman , forty-two years old and going back to Bloomington to finally graduate in Journalism after 20 years, although she was already a world renowned Investigative Reporter and Author. Caitie was pleased to catch up with Mary, previously her best friend, and revive old memories, some good but not all.

There was no way Caitlin was getting caught up in local issues as she wanted to be back in Washington. Mike Roman often assisted her as an investigator and bodyguard but he would be no use without a badge in the local problem. A few girls have gone missing over the years and a young student Lakshmi is desperate for Caitlin’s involvement as Angela Chapman, her best friend is one of those missing.

There can be dangerous people lurking anywhere and this book brings to life where a supposedly harmless situation can go. People can be deceiving and this book keeps you wanting to know what will happen next.

Come and Get Me is a fantastic read! It’s reads like a trip to your favorite ice cream shop to get your favorite sweet treat!

Yes all my thriller loving friends, Come and Get Me by the talented Mr. Norman, is the perfect sundae treat delivered with delicious scoops of thrills, drizzled with just enough of that must have chocolate-flavored psycho and of course I can’t forget - it’s topped with just enough nuts to question who in the read is the nuttiest! Oh and the ending course is one that I dub the sweet cherry on top 🍒! I’m giving Come and Get Me with 4.5 stars and rounding it up to 5 for the sheer brilliance in the writing that left me guessing who the true psychopath was!❤️❤️

I thoroughly enjoyed this thriller! I had a difficult time putting it down once I got into it. I thought the characters were well developed and it was full of twists and turns. It involves the abduction of a university student and the resulting investigation by a friend of the victim and a journalist. There are many twists to this story, it is as unpredictable as it is intriguing. The book also delves into recovery from a rape that took place may years in the past, seeking closure and moving on. I recommend this book to other readers of thrillers.

My favorite thing about this book was that it was set in Bloomington, Indiana. Give it up for the Hoosiers!! I felt that the last 30 % of this book was non-stop action and I loved that. The beginning set up was a little slow going but once I got into it I couldn't stop. I was surprised by the who the evil kidnapper was and didn't see that coming. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Caitlin Bergman is back in Bloomington to accept an honorary degree from Indiana University. She fled just four credits short of graduation without telling anyone why. Now her best friend is the head of the Media Department and has convinced her to come.

During a Q & A after her degree ceremony, she is asked if she has come to investigate the disappearance of Angela Chapman who was a sophomore when she was last seen. Her best friend Lakshmi Anjale is a student journalist who has been keeping Angela's disappearance in the public's awareness. Caitlin also confesses that she left twenty years earlier because she had been beaten and raped. The police convinced her not to file charges and threatened to use her own sexual history to smear her reputation.

She has come back, partially, to face that situation and try to finally lay it to rest. But looking into Angela's disappearance gives her an excuse to stay more than the weekend she had planned. The movie deal money from her current best seller has given her the freedom to decide what she wants to do next. She thinks that Angela's story might turn into her next book.

As she delves into the events of the two years earlier, she meets those who were involved including Jerry Greenwood from the Bloomington PD who was involved in the earlier investigation. She also mentors Lakshmi in investigative journalism as they retrace the events of Angela's disappearance.

Meanwhile and intertwined in the story, we get some scenes from the character who took Angela as he focuses on a new victim and fixates on Caitlin.

This was an engaging page turner with a twisty, fast-paced plot. Caitlin in an intriguing character who excels in her work as an investigative journalist despite the trauma that still fills her life. I liked her and would like to read more stories about her.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my fair and honest review. I love suspense/thrillers and this one certainly fits the bill in that category. This was my first book from this author, but I am sure it won't be my last. I found the book to be very well written, lots of wonderful characters and a storyline that pulled me in and didn't let me go until the end of the book. I was so engrossed in the book, and read most of the night. This is the first book in a new series, and I look forward to reading more from this series. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone that loves suspense/thrillers.
