Book Love is super cute. I was feeling a little stressed, but then I downloaded the ARC of this book and was smiling and relaxed in no time as I flicked through the pages. Any bookworm will find something to relate to in this work. The cartoons are so cute and absolutely spot on. I definitely recognised myself in many of the scenarios. This is definitely a gift any book lover will appreciate.

Perhaps it’s a silly thing to say that I was utterly blown away by Debbie Tung’s Book Love. There’s really no question as to what this book was going to be about, no possibility that I wouldn’t have related to it, and yet I find myself in a place of feeling as though no book has ever truly captured my feelings quite so precisely when it comes to the wonderful books that I’ve grown up loving all my life. Book Love is just so relatable, I feel as though it took a piece of me and turned it into a novel. And I know there are so many others out there who are going to feel exactly the same when they pick this up.

From that annoying friend who always builds your excitement when they mention loving a story only to dash it down when they tell you they love it because they saw the film but have never actually read the book, to the boyfriend who is simply a beautiful wonder as he offers to buy you a book (mine did for our anniversary), every second of this graphic novel fills you with a deep sense of companionship. And really, what more could we ask from the books that find their ways to our shelves? I saw myself in so much of this book and it felt truly wonderful to feel connected to the author as a result.

The love of all things book related is just so deeply ingrained in myself that I could not help falling in love with a book that basically embodies that very feeling in physical format. I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to read this one and you can be certain that come January 2019, I will be buying this book for myself. Perhaps I’ll get it on my birthday since that seems somehow perfectly appropriate. And if you love books, even a little bit, believe me when I say you’ll find yourself among these pages just as I did. And it will feel wonderful.

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Someone wrote a cute comic series for this big ol' book nerd. I loved this book so much and it was really relatable. The art style was done really well and went between sweet and simple drawings to pieces that were more elaborately desgined. I can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy of this!

Book Love is a book of comics by the very talented Debbie Tung. It talks about the life of bookworms. It’s very funny and I recognize myself in a lot of the scenes drawn in this lovely little book. The illustrations are really nice. It’s a quick read and would make the perfect gift for a book lover. I’m definitely going to check out Debbie Tung’s other book.

This book is spot on. I identified with most of the scenarios and was nodding and laughing my way through it. I highly recommend it for both book lovers and those who put up with us (so that they can have a slightly better understanding of what drives us and that yes, it is magnetically impossible to pass up a bookshop without peeking in).
It does make me feel better to know that I'm not crazy or alone in my book love.

And I must say, the phone booth library has to be one of the best things I've ever seen.

This is a cute collection of book-themed comics. Some are a bit repetitive, but I think a true bookworm would enjoy this and could identify a lot with the main character.

This cartoon book explores the world of the bibliophile: how they spend great amounts of time not only reading, but thinking about reading. Book lovers collect books, treasure books, and talk about books.
Tung is able to capture the magic of a book lover's life in these pages, and bring a smile to our lips.

Enjoyable, funny, and relatable just like Debbie's debut, Quiet Girl in a Noisy World. The difference is, this one is specifically targeted towards us bookworms.

There were many pages in this book that made me scream internally, ME! ME! ME! Yeah, many me moments. I would think many fellow book lovers feel the same way. This would be a nice decoration book to add to your book decorations (as suggested in the book).

Recommend to all book lovers out there, which is to say, all people on goodreads.

This is actually a very charming book of cartoons about what it is like to love books, to love reading books, and to love buying books.

Probably would make a perfect gift book for those you know who love books.

The two cartoons below are written almost as though the author had looked in on me. Many times I have though I’m just going to read a little, and spent the next few hours reading. Likewise, when I was done with a story, I missed the protagonists.

Think Calvin and Hobbes comic strips or books. Then imagine this as a book.

When this book is out published, I intend to purchase the hardcover. It's that GOOD!

Debbie Tung gets me as a book worm, book nerd, book lover, bookaholic, bibliophile, and bibliomaniac. Debbie SO gets me!

I laughed, nodded with gusto, exclaimed "Truth!", cringed, giggled, and you name it.

I love love love love this book with a passion! This is one of my newest favorite books of all time and it WILL be on my real bookshelf!

For those who LOVE books, you have got to read this. You will relate to some, most and all of the book. For me, it was ALL!

I cannot wait to have it in my hands physically!

I recieved this book from Andrew McMeel Publishing Comic and Graphic Novels through Net Galley. Thank you so much! I'm going to read and read and read this comic book forever!

What a wonderful book for readers! I related to every single page!

These are illustrations about the author's love of books. It depicts anything from book recommendations (Harry Potter, Maus, Persepolis, etc) to ways to arrange books (on my bookshelf is grouped by genre and then ordered by color).

It also has suggestions on how to get out of a book slump, different types of libraries, book formats, and much more.

It was an absolute delight to read and I had a smile on every page. Highly recommend it to all book lovers.

I feel attacked by this book with how relatable absolutely everything in it is, like, am I secretly the main character?? Feels like it. Any bookworm would LOVE this book (I mean, it's a book, so obviously, but it's also the story of our lives!!). Would recommend everyone I know (aka, my family, friends, neighbors, friends of friends, family's friends, EVERYONE) to read it.

I knew already Debbie Tung because I have read "Quiet Girl in a Noisy World: An Introvert's Story " so I picked this up immediately on Netgalley and it was even better because.....BOOKS! A great strip where introverts, cat lovers and of course books fans will find a real satisfaction!

Book Love is perfect for any book lovers out there. Debbie Tung is a girl after my own heart – using comics to talk about her obsessive book buying habits, sorting shelves, the protectiveness over a well loved book, and all the other quirks well known to us that adore our books. It was almost painful how accurate some of her illustrations were. Though they’re still incredibly funny!
You may recognize some of the images – Debbie Tung’s work have been known to go viral. Or at least, they have in the book communities I’m in (and that’s what really counts here, right?). She has a website that you should check out if you enjoyed this book (with more comics on it!).
This would make a really cute gift to a book loving friend, or you could just buy it for yourself and add it to your book hoard. I won’t judge.

Book nerds rejoice! Debbie Tung doesn’t just understand us; she’s one of us! Debbie first drew scenes from my life in her debut ‘Quiet Girl in a Noisy World: An Introvert's Story’ and now she’s gained access to the bookish part of me which, let’s face it, is pretty much all that’s left once you take away the introvert part.

This is my second (but not final) read of this graphic novel and once again Debbie’s nailed it. Her illustrations perfectly capture the bliss of escaping into a book, the allure of a book sale, the horror of finishing a book and knowing you have to wait a whole year before you can dive into the sequel, and the special kind of magic you experience when your book order arrives. Debbie explores bookish nightmare of a favourite book being massacred by its film, the horror of price sticker residue and the devastation you feel when someone ruins the end of the book you’re reading.

Debbie talks about how we read, where we read, why we read, and I don’t think I’ve ever felt so understood. Every turn of the page resulted in validation of my bookish experiences. There was only one page I was glad I couldn’t relate to - when you have to choose between books because you’ve reached the maximum amount you can have on loan at any one time from the library. Thankfully my wonderful librarians consider the loan limit a suggestion, not a strict rule, where I’m involved; just one more reason why my library is the best in the world!

I cannot get enough of this book and only wish it had been several hundred pages longer. I wonder what part of my life Debbie is going to tackle next… Whatever it is, I need to read it immediately!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for introducing me to Debbie with ‘Quiet Girl’ and giving me the opportunity to remember why I need every book she ever publishes.

''When i open a book, I open a window into another person's world. It becomes a truly magical experience. There's nothing else quite like it''. If you are reading this, you love books. So welcome! This is a story about you.

Get yourself a nice cup of tea, maybe your favourite blanket and get comfortable as Debbie Tung proceeds to open your mind and use its contents into this little comic book.

With a simplistic but effective art style and as few words as possible this charming book brings onto the pages the quirks and mannerisms of that strange creature that it is the book lover. From the insatiable need for new reads, the search for that perfect reading pose or to the extends we push ourselves to insert reading time on our ever busy schedules, this books touches upon it all.

A must have for that moments when we just need something funny to warm up the soul.

Debbie Tung is a cartoonist and illustrator who shares her love of reading in this delightful collection of cartoons that would be a perfect gift for any book lover, including yourself. In page after page of drawings and dialogue, I got everything she depicts from not being able to resist a bookstore you walk by to times when you’d just rather stay home and read. She even gives advice on how to read more and shares some of her favorite books, some of which are mine too. I just have to share the bubble dialogue from two of my favorites.

Girl: “Excuse me. I’d like to exchange this book you sent me for this one instead.”
Guy(store clerk): “Oh, yours has an updated cover with the movie poster. But really, they’re the exact same books.”
Girl: “No...No they’re not.”
***************************************

Guy: “You finished reading your book ?”
Girl: “Yeah.”
Guy: “How was it ?”
Girl: “It was really sad.”
Guy : “Oh no. I guess you didn’t like it ?”
Girl: “Are you kidding ? I LOVED IT !”

This one wasn’t sad, but I LOVED IT !

How could this book be anything less than 5 stars! Debbie Tung has yet again produced another amazing little graphic novel, and just like her first book, this too is just pure love! Every single page of this was so identifiable. Bibliophiles around the world will laugh, smile, nod in agreement with each page of this book, as it accurately shows just what the true love for a book is all about.

I just wish this was available to buy now as I NEED to add it to my collection.

I am a fan of Debbie Tung's work and this particular title, Book Love, spoke directly to me as a book lover. Not just a voracious reader but a lover of books, the physical objects themselves.

Most book lovers, as described above, will see themselves in many of these comics. People who are mostly readers while liking books won't be left out since the comics span the range of definitions of book love. In fact, friends and relatives of readers and book lovers will get a kick out of these since it lets them know that their loved ones aren't strange, well, aren't alone in their strangeness.

I also admit that books like this will usually get 5 stars from me for a couple reasons (and if they don't get 5 stars they will likely get 1 or 2). The main reason, and the only one that I will mention, is that they are usually straightforward about what they are and they deliver it. If a reader looks at a couple of comics, or is familiar with the author, then they will be satisfied with the book. My ratings are only part whether I like or dislike a book. It is also about whether I think the book delivers on what it promises. Collections of comics by known writers/illustrators rarely have a disconnect between promise and what is delivered, so 5 stars for most.

This book will especially speak to readers and book lovers, we have some of the same idiosyncrasies and are also aware of how many people look at us. So when these comics poke fun at both ourselves and those looking at us like we're nuts, we can't help but nod and laugh. And share them with everyone we know.

"The book I'm reading is about a magical world of dragons and wizards! They go on adventures and explore unknown places! And then at the mansion in Hertfordshire, a wealthy man and Mr. Darcy...Oh, wait...that's a different story."

"You're reading two books at the same time again, huh?"

GUILTY! But it does make for some wonderfully imaginative what-ifs! This little book of simple drawings of a young woman wearing a hoodie, happiest with a book and a mug of tea (with teabag) at her side, is a delight for booklovers.

Some are funny, some are poignant, and some hit so close to home that you DO feel like shouting GUILTY! [Some are a bit repetitious, but really, who cares?"

I'll share a few pages to give you an idea. It is being published in January 2019 and is currently a Read Now at NetGalley by Andrew McMeet Publishing for NetGalley reviewers (all of whom will relate to this charming little reader).

These are all me (well, a lot younger). It will make a great gift for readers.

I absolutely fell in love with this book and like many other book lovers I felt as if it was written about me. It is full of humour and a deep affection for the book. Some of the situations may seem a little extreme to those who are less fixated by the book, but for may people it will have them sighing with a contented "me to" as they remember that there are many other people who share their love of the written word. What a fantastic present for the book lover in your life, or maybe just another one for your own collection

This adorable collection is 144 pages of book fun. All the crew should read it. Ye can pre-order now. Don't worry I will also remind the crew closer to publication day if ye currently be short of gold. I just know that I am glad I found this author to brighten me windy and stormy nights. Arrr!

This is a book that is definitely right up the alley of any bibliophile (and would make an excellent gift for any book lover in your life).

However, even as someone who both loves nothing more to curl up in a corner with a good read and is also a professional librarian, I will say that I don't think this is a comics collection that should be read all the way through at once. There is only so much humorous praise for books that I could take before it honestly ended up being too much for me, and I actually ended up reading "Book Love" in three installments over the course of two days. This book is probably best utilized as a nice break for when one is working their way through heavier reads.

This collection of cartoons would be an ideal gift for the book lover(s) in your life, including yourself. I don't read a lot of comics these days, but when a friend told me about this title I just had to check it out for myself! And I am so glad that I did, because I really enjoyed flipping through and seeing some of my own personal bookish quirks immortalized. Tung's artistic style is lovely as well, and you can tell that the author has captured what it is like to be a bookworm because she is one of us.

This is one that I'm sure every book lover will adore. Book Love is a collection of comics that depict what it is like to be a book lover - from incognitio sniffing a new book to being beckoned by your TBR when you are trying to work to going into the bookshop for ONE book and being sidelined by the sale display. Honestly, every page brought a smile to my face at how relatable the comics are. Honestly I was having a bad day and reading this made my day a little brighter, so thank you for that. This is a love story to and for book lovers, and I highly recommend it!

Many thanks to the publisher for providing me an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Are you a bookworm? Can you not resist a bookstore? Do you try to squeeze reading time into random bits of your day? Do you agonize over which books to take with you? Would you rather stay home and read than do… well, pretty much anything else? Oh boy, do I have the graphic novel for you.

As an avid reader, this book is extremely relatable. I definitely had a few “IT ME!” moments while reading this (I’ll leave it to you to figure out if the “I stayed up all night reading” panel above was one of them). My only quibble was that most of the love focuses on physical books, so if you’re primarily an ebook reader like me, there’ll be some comics that don’t work quite as well. Reading the panel about trying to decide how many and which books to pack for a short outing did bring me back to ye olden times before ereaders, though.

Most of the book is single-page comics, usually about a particular bookworm concern, from finding out the next book in a series isn’t coming out for a year to realizing you’re at the limit for library checkouts. These are quick, humorous, and very enjoyable. There’s also some lists – different types of libraries, ways to store books, and ways to get out a reading slump, among others. I didn’t care for these as much, except for the wonderfully illustrated list of the author’s recommended books. My favorite part, however, is the beautiful full-page illustrations.

I absolutely love the style. It’s all done in black and white, with a sort of pen on watercolor feel. The main character, a pony-tailed woman, is incredibly expressive, whether she’s crying over finishing a book or excited at her new haul of books. I loved some of the pages so much that I actually stopped reading to go check out the author’s website to see if she sells prints (alas, it seems she doesn’t). I wish some of these were done in color as I think they’d be stunning!

Overall, this is an enjoyable read for any book lover. I’m actually a bit sad this is coming out after the holidays as this would be a great gift for several friends, but there’s always next year!

I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

This collection of comics is absolutely fun to read. They are very much relatable and I was shouting all along to how much similar it was in real life. The book is definitely a treasure for book lovers in general. I wish there were post cards for all the comics that were listed in the book because the illustrations were accurate and very cute. Looking forward to much more form Debbie Tung!!

How not to love a set of feel good comic strips about books and being a book lover?
Debbie Tung, with this lovely Book Love that book lovers all around have the same quirks, and it´s awesome.

The only caveat of this books is the narrow reality that encapsules: a reality of easy access to books, libraries and bookshops.

Read my book thanks to NetGalley, in a digital form. I don´t know if that (it´s a galley) has to do with the fact that the drawings had shadows, not included in the originals.

This book made me feel nice and warm and cosy. I switched to an ereader a few years ago and now I realise how much I miss the smell and feel of a physical book. I'm going off to sniff a bookshop.

I loved Tung’s first book about life as an introvert, and didn’t realize she had a new one coming out. Once again, she excels as conveying the emotional perspective she is portraying - in this case, that of a book lover. Very cute illustrations in this collection of comics about being a bookworm. I do wish she’d included more about libraries instead of the emphasis on book stores at the start. I found myself bookmarking several pages that I especially identified with. Some of the full page illustrations are absolutely incredible. Perfect for any book lover or person trying to understand a book lover.

A simple, but simply amazing book that perfectly portrays the strange quirks of a book lover. On almost each page I was able to agree: 'Yes, that could be me!'. While the scenes captured in the comics are unexcited and mostly unsurprising, it was a pleasure to find them collected in one place here. It felt like reading a book about myself, which I'm sure most book lovers will experience the same.

Thank you Debbie Tung for putting our lives to paper.

These drawings were so cute. I found myself constantly chuckling to myself and reading them to my husband.

*Buying a book I already have because it has a beautiful cover.
*Not wanting a book that has the movie tie in cover.
*Having an ever growing "to-read" book pile.

I loved it!
