Description
A poignant graphic novel about love, identity, and the challenges of adulthood.
In the final volume of The Story of Lee, Lee and Matt continue their studies and relationship in the UK. Lee's growing confidence leads her to assert herself more, challenging Matt to change or risk upsetting their relationship. A Chinese student becomes a rival for Lee's attention, while Matt faces financial and existential struggles. Against the backdrop of increasing societal turmoil in Hong Kong, Lee's father falls ill, forcing her to decide whether to return home or pursue an independent life in the UK. This graphic novel explores themes of cross-cultural relationships, identity, and the complexities of family obligations. Perfect for readers interested in slice-of-life stories and character-driven narratives.

Simple drawings to complement complex subjects. Social unrest, feminism and personal angst. The characters are quite likable though they are living through relationship problems as well as idealogical differences.

Writing a love story where hero and heroine don't manage to make it work in the end is an unconventional choice, but a brave one. And I am convinced that a cold shower of reality is needed from time to time, especially one that is so thoughtfully well plotted. The romance is slowly stifled by the differences in race, status, social expectations and life challenges but it ultimately cannot win against the desire to live life in completely different ways.
I congratulate the authors for a a story every couple should read to understand where they could go wrong or where may have already gone wrong in the past.
