Thanks to NetGalley for the advance copy to review.
I did not read the prequel book, but I shall now. This was a truly great read. With no spoilers, I can say, I was rooting for Jessica all the way to reach Ethan. I enjoyed the spirited side of the story as well. I was right in the story start to finish.
Well Done.

The second book in the series of Jenna/Jessica is a great read!

Jess assists the FBI with her new-found power of psychic ability. When push comes to shove, however, Jess is told in no uncertain terms (by the spurned Zach) that she can no longer assist, or have contact with, the FBI.

Jess cares less when she meets Sage. He takes Jess to meet Bela Bingham who appears to have psychic powers even stronger than Jess. Helping people is all Jess wants to do (and being with Sage). Yet, suddenly, she needs to help herself, too. Although Sage is a God-send, he carries quite a bit of baggage, her sister and Jess are on the outs and her insurance money is running low. The money Jess makes from tiny shadowboxes only stretches so far.

A life-altering séance Jess and Sage attend is the key to more than meets the eye...

Although this is a book series (I hope there are more!) this book can be read as a standalone.

Even if you are not really into psychic experiences and "mediums" this is a great read - give it a try!

My thanks to Suspense Publishing and NetGalley for a great storyline!

Sage and Jessica have such a great story. I love stories about ghosts and this was one of my favorites. The main characters, every single one of them made this such an amazing story. I started this story and from the very start of it, I was hooked. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this book.

This second book about Jessica was even better than the first. I love her and Sage. The connection between them is believable and sweet. I didn't care for Jenna in the first book and this one definitely didn't change my opinion of her. I'm also not a Zach fan. It says a lot about an author's ability when they can evoke such strong feelings about their characters in a reader. The plot was full of action and suspense. I hope we see more of Jessica and Sage.

Jessica Mack has been through a lot after suffering memory loss in the first book and then to learn your hearing spirit's after waking up in from a coma, that was cause by your drunken husband Gary that also killed your son Justin and the only person who knows is her ex Zach who is FBI agent stills has feelings for her because she help him with a case of a woman name Hilary was killed by her husband when he ask her help to find a missing four year old boy name Ethan.

When her friend Claudia plays matchmaker she meets Sage who introduce her to Bella who give her understanding of what happening to her as she is drawn to Sage she learns some things about him that give her pause.

As she confide in her twin sister Jenna about what going on with her let's just say I wanted to smack her at the way she handle what Jessica was telling. I do say she sort comes around.

I do like that every person she meets or already know seem to be connect that makes me believe Jessica and Sage was meant to meet.

I love both books and I'm looking forward readingfrom this author again.

I ARC received via NetGalley and in exchange for an honest review.

Jessica Mack survives a car accident where her son is killed. For years she suffers from memory loss, blackouts and the constant background whispers from the spirit world.
Jessica works as an artist creating miniature works of art – garden scenes, tea parties, animals and shadow boxes losing herself in the creations.
After five years the spirits become more insistent and demanding to be heard. From information in her graphic dreams Jessica gives information to her detective friend Zach that helps solve a murder.
I loved the way the characters interact and how Jessica is helped to understand her psychic abilities by friends. This story is about friends, family relationships, grief and communicating with spirits.

The second book of the Beyond the Veil Mystery series, entitled Proof of Life is written by Sheila Lowe. This thriller book will keep you on the edge of your seat as Jessica Mack is learning to deal with the voices that she keeps hearing. Five years ago Jessica lost her son in a car accident caused by her drunk husband. She spent months in the hospital recovering from injuries and amnesia. Ever since then she has heard voices, and she had gotten very good at ignoring them. However, now they are becoming more insistent and she finds that she is going to have to learn to deal with her new "gift" because lives are at stake.Jessica is an artist, and creates incredible miniature displays. Now the voices are talking to her, and when she has a period of blacking out, she is finding that clues are coming through in her miniature worlds that she shares with her friend in the FBI. The clues are accurate and resulting in cases being solved, but she still can't control things.

She meets Sage Boles, and he has an open mind and is working with her and introducing her to people who could help her explore her powers. She goes to the Ojai Valley Spiritualist Association to learn more about spiritual communications. Now more than ever, it's important that she believe in herself and her gift. A four-year-old boy, Ethan Starkey, is missing and she needs to find him before it's too late.

This book does a great job of explaining "the clairs" in detail. I was amazed to find out that there are five different types;
Clairvoyance - is clear seeing, a person can see images or the actual spirit
Claircognizance - is clear knowing, having a well-developed intuition
Clairaudience - is clear hearing, and they hear messages from a spirit
Clairgustance - is clear tasting, a taste of a flavor is the communication
Clairsalience - is clear smelling, a smell that is significant to the spirit
Some mediums are skilled in all five, others just use one or two of these types. This knowledge really helped to make the story come to life when various clues came from different sources.

If you enjoy a good mystery and like to open your mind to new things and new ways of thinking, you are going to really enjoy Proof of Life to start off your summer reading list.

After surviving the accident that killed her son Justin, Jessica Mack finds she developed a unique ability: she hears dead people asking her for help. For several years she suppressed the voices but now, she is experiencing episodes of not remembering what she did or where she was when the voices come.

Unable to turn off the voices, Jessica shares information with her friend Zach, an FBI agent, that helps him solve a case. Then, as Jessica seeks relief from the continual stream of voices, Zach describes a routine case of a father taking off with his 4 year old kid. Jessica starts getting bits and pieces about this case but not directly as the boy and his father are still alive. In the meantime, Jessica meets Sage, an artist, who introduces her to Rev Bella Bingham and the Ojai Valley Spiritual Association. As Bella counsels Jessica on dealing with her ability she begins to learn how to manage this gift.

Sheila Lowe writes a convincing and believable story about a woman who experiences requests from the spirits of dead people to communicate with their loved ones. A talented wordsmith, Ms. Lowe creates a compelling mystery that combines a sensitive portrait of how unusual abilities affect a young woman with a suspense driven account of her impact on events. This mystery encourages an awareness of communicating with spirits and Ms. Lowe illustrates this ability with genuine understanding. An exceptional read.

Jessica Mack lost her beloved three-year old son, Justin, when her husband drove intoxicated and their car went off a cliff. Jessica barely survived, Justin is gone and her husband is in prison. Since the accident and after recovering from amnesia, Jessica began to hear voices. Now the voices from the spirit world cannot be ignored…they want messages delivered and justice for their deaths. When a murdered woman appears to Jessica, she is able to assist an FBI Agent in the location of the woman’s body. Jessica can now see the dead, as well as hear them, and realizes that she can help others with this “gift” that she has been given. With the help of Sage Boles and a séance, she will begin to take control of her life. A young boy is missing, kidnapped by his father. She hears the young boy’s voice, is he still alive? Will Jessica be able to find him in time before it is too late? Claudia Rose from the very enjoyable “Forensic Handwriting” series makes an appearance in this book. This was a wonderful read, with a paranormal aspect that questions life after death. No matter what your view on this, I want to believe that our loved ones, who have passed, are now at peace. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

Outstanding follow-up to WHAT SHE SAW. Lowe's writing is superb, and I highly recommend her books to readers who are interested in writing forensics, thrillers, mysteries, and in the case of PROOF OF LIFE, psychic connections.

I enjoyed this book much better than the first one. The characters are
developed very well. I cared much more about the main character than I
did the last book.
You do not have to read the first book to enjoy this one. Both books are
stand-alone. The writer does a great job of including what you need
from the first book without boring you with repetition.
Proof of Life, ASIN: B07NF485ZZ was so good I'm interested in reading
Sheila Lowe's other books!
