This series is always a joy to read, it’s a really nice introduction to well known people for little children. Of course the plot is always a little bit fast but that’s to be expected and it’s totally understandable.
This book gives a glimpse into Rosa's life and tells the story of her childhood during the segregation and of her battle for civil rights. It's so nice for children to have this book so they can read about such a remarkable woman who changed the entire nation with a simple "no".

I am constantly marveled at the consistent and divine pleasure of these annotated biographies with amazing illustrations. This is another gem in the "Little People, Big World" series!

The same stunning quality, illustrations and passion have clearly gone into this version from Little People, Big Dreams.
My First... Is going to be a perfect collection in order to introduce the reader’s own little ones to heroes that have made our world a better place.
It will make the perfect building block to the traditional publication that includes a timeline and further information.

The ‘My First Little People, Big Dreams’ series provides informative and inspirational biographies about people who left a mark on this earth, no matter what difficulties they have encountered.
These stories are very short, but that’s because they’re books for children, so it’s totally understandable.
I think they are a very smart and wonderful way to introduce little children to such important figures.
Rosa Parks's story is a very good example for teaching children (and also adults) to treat people with kindness and equality, no matter the differences.

Very easy to read, simple story of Rosa Parks, and why she is/was important in the story of the civil rights movement in the United States.

There is a lot more nuance to the bus boycot than is let on, in this simple book, but it is enough to give the kids the general idea, and that is what is important, these days.

Books like this are great for sparking interest in the youngest readers. My 4 year old has been obsessed with Rosa Parks lately and this is another book we enjoyed to add to our collection! It keeps things simple and is appropriate for little learners!

I really like the idea of teaching kids about Rosa Parks in an easy and accessible way mainly via pictures. The illustrations were great, too.

These books are amazing and I love all of them. Great introduction to a major civil rights figure and a great starting point for children, as always colourful illustrations draw you in. The details in the illustrations alone can help discussion points. A wonderful series

Very well written and illustrated in simple short phrases the author paints Rosa Parks struggle and triumphs with the Civil rights movement. This is excellent for toddlers and parents who want to expose their children to historic figures.

I have bought several of the 'Little People, Big Dreams' book series for the school library and would encourage others to do so too. They offer an insight into the lives of people who genuinely made a difference for a variety of reasons. I find the texts engaging and the visual style is perfect to hold the readers interest. The Rosa Parks text will be easily accessed by a wide age range of students. Alone, I found it to be a little scant on detail for my upper primary class but it will be an excellent introduction to her life and will prompt more indepth discussion about her beliefs and achievements. I'll be adding several copies to our school library.

The life story of Rosa Parks is a very good way of teaching kids to treat everyone with equality. This children's book should be highly promoted so that a lot of young readers will be informed of the absurdity of racism. We may not be aware of it, but racism still does exist even at present. It is always up to the parents, teachers, or guardians of children to teach them that whatever color or from wherever you came from, we are all coequal. Lastly, Rosa Parks' bravery and standing up for what is right also set as an example and inspiration not only to children but also to adults.

Wonderfully illustrated and told with language and ideas perfect for the audience. Short and to the point, ideal for reading aloud. My favorite in this series.

Beautiful book! Out of the 4 in this series we read this was my daughter’s favorite, because it shows Rosa as a hero. It was a great conversation starter when it comes to the history of racism in the US and even how it’s still something people of color have to deal with. She was able to really “get it” and that’s partially because of this book.

This was such a cute book! Of course I know about Rosa Parks but it is always good to see new books coming out for kids to learn about these people as well. I loved that this was for young kids - so you can read it to them and get the conversation started! I was not super impressed with the artwork but for a kids book it was much better than some others I have seen. I am excited to see what the others she has written looks like.

Rosa Parks by Lisbeth Kaiser published on February 5th, 2019. It is a Little People, Big Dreams series by Quatro Publishing Group is a children’s story book about Rosa Parks. I would certainly buy this book for the children in my life. The illustrations are fabulous and really get to the heart of Rosa’s story and everything she accomplished in her life. It is a perfect introduction to the child and excellent way of introducing civil rights and fierce female advocates to a generation of children who need positive role models in their lives, and to know the hardships of those that came before them seeking justice and having the courage to stand up for what is right even when it was not popular. Well done!

Rosa is a new book in the Little People, Big Dreams series. Aimed at younger readers, the messages are inspiring, the art is engaging, and the takeaways are on-point and delivered in an age-appropriate manner.

I've reviewed and loved several of the earlier books in the series on my blog, and this one is no exception. The art by Marta Antelo is whimsical and appealing, with bright colors and bold graphics. There are two versions of this book. This one is for the youngest readers with much more simplified writing. The 'older' kid version was published in 2017, this 'first board book' version was released 5th Feb 2019. Both are from Quarto on their Frances Lincoln imprint.

It's impressive that any author could make a book about racism, segregation, violence, hate, civil disobedience, and turmoil age appropriate for the youngest children and present it in such a fashion that it's both understandable and not damaging for the reader.

Rosa is a lovely addition to the series about a worthwhile subject.

This book tells, in a very kid friendly manner, the story of Rosa Parks. From the time she was little, she learned to be brave. Her grandparents told her stories about slavery. She notices the inequality around her. As she grew, she learned to speak up.

The story and illustrations in this ebook are perfect. Short phrases and colorful pictures tell the story of an amazing life.

Short, simplistic introduction to Rosa Parks for young readers. While readers at this reading level (please consider I'm not expert) may not fully grasp the importance of Parks and her story, even getting her name and message out to them is important at a young age. And parents can build on this with their own knowledge as questions get asked.

I'll be looking into this book and others in the series as possible purchases for developing our children's section at my library.

This is my first reading experience with the "Little People Big Dreams" series and it will certainly not be my last! I thought this was a perfect introduction for a young one on a very challenging topic. The Civil Rights movement has so much to it and this particular volume highlights Rosa Parks. It does a fantastic job of introducing someone vital to the movement as well as illustrating in a child friendly way the injustice of being treated differently because of our appearance. It also demonstrates that if we are unhappy about something, we should do something to change it - even if it extends beyond us personally.

My only wish was that this was longer, but I think for a small child the length is enough. This will make a great addition to my daughter's library!

A simplified illustrated storybook about the legacy of Rosa Parks and her dream to make life better and fair for African Americans.

The illustrations in this children's book did a great job of enhancing this biography of Rosa Parks. It will most definitely help spark conversation and questions with your child, even if they are toddlers. Another great edition to the Little People, Big Dreams series.

The thing that really gets me about <i>Rosa Parks</i> byLisbeth Kaiser and illustrated by Marta Antelo is the fact that the story of her life and her accomplishments is told primarily in pictures. While I realize most children are quite visual, I don't understand why this book, as opposed to the one on Stephen Hawking, was so much less straightforward about its text. I genuinely felt, while reading it, that if I did not already have background knowledge regarding who Rosa Parks was and what she did, I would have left this book without really knowing much about it at all. And maybe I'm expecting too much from a children's book but, for me, I had imagined that there would be more to it than there was.

The book has a lot of adorable illustrations that definitely do a marvelous job of telling the story, though it does require that whichever parent is reading this to their child to take the time to explain a little bit more about Rosa Parks and what was going on for them to fully understand. I think, perhaps, it is a decent introduction to this amazing woman and her story, but it doesn't really give enough information for me to love it. I wanted there to be more, I wanted the story to discuss in extra depth the time period and why what Rosa Parks did was so life changing for a great many people.

I think this was a good start, but it definitely wasn't enough as far as I'm concerned.

This is an absolutely charming set of books. It gives a clear message that we are all capable of so much and are giving simple yet powerful messages to young children in a beautifully illustrated, simply worded way.

Rosa Parks is thought of as the Mother of the Freedom Movement and young children will love to listen to this engaging story and the wonderfully bright, quirky illustrations....

I love the idea of this series:
"Little People, BIG DREAMS is a best-selling series of books and educational games that explore the lives of outstanding people, from designers and artists to scientists and activists. All of them achieved incredible things, yet each began life as a child with a dream.
I feel they will appeal to children of all ages. Babies and toddlers will love the reading experience of these simple stories of children who grew up in a world which they wanted to change. Simple sentences propel the story a;ong while destinctive illustrations catch the eye and prompt additional conversations.
Why should we read this type of non-fiction to our kijds? Let them escape into magical realities. The world of reading is filled with various genres so should a child's bookcase, for one.
Secondly, we all need role models and who better than characters from out past.
to my shame I knew nothing of Rosa Parks until I saw a recent Dr Who episode based on the bus journey of non-compliance. It shows how powerful one person can be and how many lives they can influence.
Growing up the apartheid system in South Africa seemed the evil of the 20th century and yet the USA has an appalling record which Segregation was but a part of it.
Our children need to learn the truth and lessons from history. Such a neat and informative book as this one about Rosa Parks goes a long way to sharing knowledge and energising minds.

Lisbeth Kaiser writes a wonderful children's book about Rosa Parks. This story is easy for a child to follow and can be used as a way to start teaching smaller children about the importance of Rosa as well as so many others in the fight for equality. It is age appropriate and the illustrations are eye catching and tell their own story.

Another lovely board book from the Little People, BIG DREAMS series. It's short, sweet, and it tells some of the key things that made Rosa Parks a hero. I was a little surprised when I realised it's not written by Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara, but it maintains the quality of the rest of the series.

Superb book, love the history lesson I could give my granddaughter.. So sad when I think that nothing has really changed now. I can only hope that due to the excellent books written like this one will change how young people will view not only Blacks, but anyone different from themselves.

This is a simply told, factual book about Rosa Parks for young listeners. Children will learn a bit about Rosa's growing up, what she stood for, what she did and how she brought about change. Her story makes for an inspiring read. The illustrations beautifully enhance the story.

All in all, another excellent addition to an excellent series. Note: this is a My First series board book, part of the Little People, Big Dreams series.

This is such a beautiful, empowering tale of a courageous woman who fought to change the world. All children need books like this to see diverse stories commemorating those who created the world as we know it.

I was aware of this series for a while but hadn't read any of them until I picked up Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Tales of Extraordinary Women and was inspired by stories of important women around the world. I started the Little People, Big Dreams series with Emmeline Pankhurst, leader of the British suffragette movement who helped women win the right to vote. I was eager to read more and this little gem was a joy to find.

Rosa Parks was born during a time of segregation in Alabama. With her curious nature she noticed that life for black people wasn't fair and Rosa began to use her voice and stand up for herself. In 1955, Rosa refused to give up her seat to a white man on a segregated bus and was sent to jail. When she was released, she was determined to change things, leading to the Montgomery Bus Boycott and eventually ending segregation on public transport.

I love everything about this beautiful little book and this series. In simple language, the story of this brave and inspirational woman is perfectly presented for children, and it is such an important story to tell. The illustrations are colourful and cute and will appeal to young eyes. I will certainly be adding this book to my 'Little Library'.

A short summary of Rosa Parks's life and her struggle for independence and respect in a country where even after the Blacks were free from slavery, they were still discriminated and disrespected. She encouraged her people to stand up for each other and fight for mutual respect. She made sure Blacks were given equal importance and right in their country among their countrymen.

I would've liked a little bit more about her but this book is mainly aimed for children's education and it is apt for reading out loud in classes with pretty illustrations.

This might be my favorite in this series of non-fiction stories. The illustrations are wonderful, simple yet detailed, luscious yet toned. And, the text is so good, particularly the point that there is still work to do. What an important message to impart to the young readers.

This empowering series is very worthy of collecting. It is intended for kids of all ages and comes in a range of formats. Its mission is to inspire the next generation of outstanding people to shine their light and uniqueness and in so doing make positive and often life-changing contributions to the world!

Rosa Parks grew up in Alabama. One day, in 1955, while on a segregated bus, a white man approaches her and demands that she give up her seat so he can sit down. Rosa refuses his request and as a result is put in jail.

Her refusal ignites the Montgomery Bus Boycott. This woman's very courageous stand against injustice sparks a movement that miraculously ends segregation on public transit.

What happened to Rosa Parks? She continues on to become a civil right's activist and never stops working for just causes. This book can be a call to action for others to take a stand and fight for truth and righteousness. Rosa proves that one insignificant woman can make a difference and accomplish significant changes in the world.

The illustrations enrich the text and are powerful advocates to the positive message. The author has included a biographical timeline with photos of the real Rosa Parks. She incorporates a more detailed profile of her for those wishing to learn more about this extraordinary woman's life. I highly recommend this book and the others in this wonderful series.

This is the first I've read in the series, and the illustrations are lovely, and the story simple and easy to understand for children. I wish it came with a little more in-depth background, perhaps for parents, to help give context to their children, especially if kids have questions after reading.

Rosa Parks is a great picture book addition to the Little People, Big Dreams Series. The story begins with Rosa’s childhood, talking about her family and her unfair experiences in school and in her home town. She didn’t like all the unfair rules and decided she wanted to change things. This is a great introduction to Rosa’s place in history. And like I’ve said in my other Little People, Big Dreams review, I love this series!

I've read 4 books of the Little People, Big Dreams series, and since they're very similar (thus I can only say the same things about them), I've reviewed them together:
These are exactly the books I would love to dive in with my kid (once I'll have one)! They're very short, with very simple and short text - well, they're picture books. It's definitely suitable for only very little kids, toddlers. In themselves, at least. I can imagine telling a more detailed story about Hawking, Parks, Fitzgerald, Pankhurst, or any other hero of these books to a bit older child - I think when an adult reads it with them, adds things, and it's possible to discuss, than it could be quite enjoyable for even 5-6 year-olds. I find it very important to give role models to kids, ones who'd done something in their lives worth mentioning, especially in this age when all these celebrities and influencers are thrown at us who have never done anything useful that would earn them respect. These little board books (I've downloaded like 4) give help with that from a very early age, and that's wonderful!

A great edition to the Little People, Big Dreams series. Rosa Parks is always a great example of hardwork and dedication to a cause. The illustrations really compliment the story. Readers will get a small exposure to race inequality and slavery. This book is a great introduction into Park's life and contribution to our world.

I really love this series ! I have read a few now and I actually regret not having them when I was a kid . It was a fun read and I learned a little bit mire about rosa parks

A beautiful and powerful retelling of the story of one of the most important women in the civil rights movement. it is the perfect level of difficulty for the age range it is aimed at but isn't sensational. Once again, wonderful.

This is a short overview about the fascinating lady - Rosa Parks.
I love these books and think that they are an excellent way of introducing these people to young children.
I can't wait until my daughter is old enough for this series and I hope they will encourage her to want to read more about these brilliant women when she is older.

New in the Little People, Big Dreams series, discover the incredible life of Rosa Parks. This book also appears to be from the sub-group to the series for younger children and is subtitled, "My First Rosa Parks". The end pages with notes, timeline etc. is present, but it is quite brief. This book was especially of interest to me as living close to Detroit, Michigan, I grew up hearing about Rosa Parks as she fled to Detroit to escape the death threats etc she received as a result of her activism. Rosa Parks stood up for what she believed and put herself in danger for standing up against racism and segregation. This act, was one of the beginnings of civil rights movement. This is a child friendly biography with great illustrations. It is a story that shows a young woman striving to achieve her dream. This book could be used to teach young children how to write a biography, show that it is important to have a dream and strive to achieve it, as well as teaching about racism and loving others no matter what colour their skin, their nationality language etc. I recommend this book to all public and school libraries.

The ‘My First Little People, Big Dreams’ series provides a great introduction to young children about people making a difference in our world. Always informative and inspirational, these biographies are totally relatable to young children and written for easy comprehension.

As a pediatric speech language pathologist, I am always looking for great board books with substance. Rosa Parks, an important figure in history, is another beautifully illustrated book for young children, teaching about respect, equal rights, kindness, and civil rights. I loved the book. This should be in every school library, as well as teacher’s classroom libraries.

Once again, I learned something new thanks to Little People, Big Dreams (I’m starting to think I didn’t get a very good education as a kid!). Everyone knows Rosa Parks as the woman who wouldn’t give up her seat on the bus during segregation. What I didn’t know is that she did so much more than that (though that was a truly brave thing to do). She was an activist prior to that famously refusing to give up her seat, and harnessed the energy that action sparked, to fight for and create real long-term change.

In addition to highlighting events in the inspiring life of Rosa Parks, this book touches on the history of slavery and racism, while explaining at a very basic level how Rosa’s persistence paid off.

Definitely a critically important edition to the Little People, Big Dreams collection.

This was the first book I read in the "My first little people, big dreams" series, and I feel like it's a perfect book to first introduce someone to reading, and it's also an amazing way to spark conversations and interest in civil rights movement for children of all ages.
This book relies more on the illustrations than the text, but I don't feel like it takes away from the experience. All the books in this series have illustrations that tells the story with very few words needed.

I love this series, it's always a joy to read about someone who I may a lot, a bit or nothing at all. The art style is pleasing to look at, these are books would be a great addition to many elementary classrooms.

This is a delightful book for young readers. The illustrations are lovely. My daughters loved this book and we highly recommend it.

Rosa Parks has been one of my heroes, for as long as I can remember. I loved this book and am excited to hear it is in a board book format. I think that children will be inspired by Rosa Parks courage. She is a shining example of making a difference in an admirable way!
