Going to heaven has never been the final goal of biblical faith. Scripture teaches Christians to hope for the R's: The Return of Christ, The Resurrection of the body, and the Restoration of all things. Heaven is so much more

When you hear the word heaven what do you think about? What is heaven to you? What will we do in Heaven? Scripture does teach us that heaven is not the final prize or we will be sitting on a cloud with a harp. Heaven will be where we will worship God and where sin will be no more. So I would think that sin is big deal here and how we view sin and God matters. We were saved for someone!

The book comes in two parts. What happens when we die and what happens after that. Each statement can be somewhat scary but when we read the word of God it can be encouraging.
The most encouraging part of Heaven is being with God. Even now we have glimpses of God and his goodness and to know that in Heaven it will be a million times better.

The text gives comfort but it also gives us vision of where our focus must be. How we view heaven matters here and will matter for eternity.

A Special thank you to Discovery House Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

After first reading Randy Alcorn's "Heaven" a few years ago, I realized I had very much glossed over what scripture has to say about Heaven. I'm glad I came across another well-written book on the topic, Wittmer's "Anticipating Heaven," and it is a short, easily read book that is a good resource for anyone who cares to look beyond the stereotypes of clouds and harps. I highlighted quite a few passages for further study and am grateful that another author has turned his attention to a subject—and place!—I get even more interested in as the years roll by.
