Description

Even under the best circumstances, it takes time and intention to disciple grandchildren and pass on a legacy of faith. So how much harder is the assignment in a family experiencing fractures such as divorce, estrangement, or prodigals? I am not a grandparent myself, but I found this book to be helpful in parenting my child and in understanding what grandparents go through when they have grandchildren. The author, Larry Fowler, discussed barriers that are geographical, relational and spiritual. The advice given to overcome barriers was practical and did not sound judgmental. Fowler discussed when it is appropriate to give advice and to assist, but also when to step back and allow the parents to have say. Showing grace to our children was also discussed and I think that is helpful advice for parents and grandparents. I would recommend this book.
