The masterclass series is so fun! I liked this class even better with Monet! Step by step, you learn the characteristics of his work and are encouraged to mimic his art side-by-side with the shown techniques. Clear and simple explanations, and easy instructions. The book is well designed with bright and quirky illustrations, enhancing Monet's color palette and style. The collection of curated works shown throughout the book was put together at the end which I appreciated. I think a few more of his other famous works would've been nice but other than that, I really enjoyed going into detail with Monet's art.

A wonderful look into the artist’s style and techniques. Its complimented by a little history of the artist and space to try your hand at the techniques that made the artist so famous.

Great book for introducing children to the style of Monet. There are plenty of tips on what to look for and the style to replicate to get the feel of Monet, but no in depth instructions. It shows his most famous paintings so children can become familiar with them. To get the best from the book it is best used as part of a lesson or alongside a knowledgeable adult. A short book with lots of space for children to have a go themselves. Thank You

What a gorgeous book! This is exactly the type of book I would want to get for my kids. Impressionism is definitely my favorite form of art, and Claude Monet has long held a piece of my heart. I even have a canvas of Water Lilies hanging in my kitchen! My kids love art, in fact that come from a family of artists, so this book is right up there alley as well. I love that the book has beautiful pictures of Monet's work, and has an activity on each page relating to different aspects of Monet's style of art. I like that this book allows for creativity, but also teachers art techniques while introducing kids to one of the greatest artists of all time. I definitely recommend this book to anyone with kids who are interested in art or who enjoy arts and crafts.

Art Masterclass with Claude Monet takes the reader through projects that allow them to experiment with lines, color, light, and more. Each activity starts with a piece by Monet, and then allows the child to explore and create. By the final page, the reader is challenged to create a completely original piece, using the skills developed throughout the book. This book would be great for someone who is serious about art, and appreciates the work of others. A free-spirited child, who thrives where there a few boundaries, may find this book stifling. I would not add this to the library general collection, because it encourages the readers to draw in the book. However, I would gladly add it to the professional collection to inspire art and general education teachers.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I was so excited, I got this from a wish!! I was very excited! Thanks book gives a close fun look at the composition and style he used. It breaks it down into somewhat doable elements (for we who are not artistic). I truly enjoyed this book. I hope to see more books like this. I wanted to try to do a painting! Thanks. I rate this 4 stars. I would give it 5 but I don't like the blank spaces that u could use for your attempt.

This book is part of a series and I already know that I will enjoy whichever one comes next. This entry on Monet provides a brief biography and time line so that young artists will know more about who Monet was and and when he lived. They will also learn how the Impressionists got their name. In addition, there is information on what materials are needed in order to complete the projects in the book. That taken care of, creating can begin.

Readers discover how Monet used his senses in his art, especially looking at what he saw en plein air (outside). Students are encouraged to copy some of the artist's works (not sure I could do that), to make some from their imagination and even with stickers. Some examples of projects include

How to Show Things Move Like Monet

How to Color Like Monet and

How to Make an Impression Like Monet

At the end of the book there is information about each of the paintings in the book. All in all, this was a good introduction to Monet and a chance for young artists to create.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this e-galley. All opinions are my own.

You have to hope the copious errors in the e-arc are corrected, such as Monet buying a home with "pong" – those lilies really didn't engage with all the senses, did they? Shame. Still, we have a fun little book, colourfully showing Monet artworks and giving us exercises to follow on. A few just ask for straight copies, which wasn't the case with the Klimt volume in the same series, but all the same they should not put the budding artist off through failure. I guess part of that is that the originals are mostly landscapes, and therefore this is also needs to be suitable for city-dwelling juniors ("first, find your hay-rick"). Whatever, the purchaser will learn enough for primary school considerations and have a suitable amount of endeavour ahead of them.

Really enjoyed this book with my child. He is really into art and loves looking at book to try new things! (I think I will get this in print form though soon. Probably much better an ARC on my e-reader!)

Wow! I absolutely love this series for children and will definitely be purchasing a physical copy to use with my kindergarten students and own children at home! I love how tangibly I can help them create art in the style of different master artists.

An excellent introduction to Claude Monet’s style for kids and adults alike!
Includes how tos and plenty of examples of his work in different categories!
It’s short and sweet, and very well done. The layout is not overwhelming but neat and colorful!

Highly Recommend for art teachers and homeschooling parents!

Wonderful introduction to the life and work of Claude Monet. Cotten's exploration into Monet's style and techniques is informative and the spaces provided for readers to emulate Monet will be well filled. This will make a fantastic addition to any elementary school classroom or budding artist's library.

The Impressionists are some of my favorites, so I wanted to read this book as an inspiration for my own art. Yes, it is focused toward children, but I felt child-like joy looking through it. I think it would be a great hands-on resource to help children learn about Impressionism.

This is an interesting book that I think would be fun and useful for children (or even adults) learning about art. It shows what is special and unique about Monet and gives the reader a chance to learn about the art as they go along.

I also appreciate the optimism inherent in the end page titled "Create Your Monet Masterpiece" because, yeah, I can't even draw a stick figure at this point in my life and I appreciate the book's belief that I, too, can learn how to make a Monet Masterpiece. I'll try my best, book!

Most kids' books about art and artists take one of two approaches: 1) the life of the artist; 2) examples of the the artist's most famous works. Now, both of those things are present in these books but the larger focus is on elements of the artist's style. In both books, we are presented with a painting that exemplifies some element of the art style. Motion, shadow, shape, focus. We look at the element and then experiment with replicating the element. These books allow young artists to experiment and develop their own art styles as well as looking at the artists' work through a new lens.

This hands-on introduction to the work of Claude Monet not only introduces readers to many of his paintings, it invites them to draw, color, and paint like him too. A beautiful, inviting, interactive book.

A lovely and simple introduction to the style of Money. I can absolutely see this workbook inspiring some joy and creativity. Katie Cotton does an excellent job at breaking the down the different components that make Monet so distinctive. The illustrations are also stunning.

One of the titles in the new series 'Art Masterclass' designed to help children understand how a particular artist worked and what techniques he/she used. I love Impressionism, so this was the obvious choice to start from. The book includes practical activities to learn Monet's famous brush stroke and the use of colour to show different seasons and times of the day. The explanations are clear and easy to follow and encourage children explore the techniques, while creating their own original art.
Thank you to NetGalley and WideEyed Editions quarto Publishing Group for the ARC provided in exchange for an honest opinion.

The Art Masterclass series by Quarto Publishing is a genius collection of titles aimed at helping young readers create art akin to their favorite artists. This book, which focuses on Claude Monet, covers the many techniques that he utilized in his beautiful paintings, such as dashes, squiggles, dots, movement, natural colors, & light techniques

I felt this was a solid first step in helping children understand & realize that art can be broken down and created using skills they already possess. My only issue is that it is aimed at Kindergarten to 2nd grade. While the fonts and general layout support this, the text/instructions are better suited for late elementary - maybe even early middle school. The only way I see this working for the 5-to-7 age range is in a classroom setting, being lead by a teacher or art instructor.

Overall, though, I thoroughly enjoyed this particular book and the entire series, as well. It is a solid 4.5/5 stars.

Thank You to Quarto Publishing and NetGalley for this digital copy to read and review!

This is a fun and interesting series for children (and adults too, if you ask me!) that introduces a different artist in each book. The artist's work is discussed, covering techniques used, influences, things to look for in their style, etc. I liked that the works are broken down into pieces- use of color, use of shapes, how brushstrokes are used, light and shadow- making the work more accessible and easier to understand. Each aspect of the work has some practice exercises, leading you to create your own version of the artist's style at the end. This would make a great gift for any art lover, young or old!

I found this book very beautiful and enjoyable. Chapter 3 is my favorite one - I LOVE doing palette colours and it was incredible to see "How to colour like Monet" - Sky blue, Lemon yellow, River blue, Grass green, Rose red, Earth brown.... all the colour names are like music to my ears - I adore separating colours by name and testing them on paper. I confess that I still have to practice more to learn how to paint like Monet, but I will do my best to improve my skills. Cute book, highly recommended.

"Art Masterclass with Claude Monet" is a fun way to introduce impressionism to young children. The author breaks down some of the key techniques used in impressionism and encourages readers to mimic the techniques themselves. I especially adore the author's approach to analyze Monet's techniques which help young readers to think independently. 12 lessons with blank space children could draw on with stickers to complete their own artworks, this is an educational activity book for little artists. 4 stars for the quality on contents and illustrations but I took out one star for the insufficient amount of information. For $14, I expect more information on general knowledge about Monet or on impressionism. Nonetheless, "Art Masterclass" with Claude Monet" is still a great book for children who love and appreciate fine arts.

Excellent material to develop judgment and sensitivity about Impressionism.

I find it great to accompany our children to learn from Impressionism alongside one of the most famous and beloved French painters. The book breaks down the style of Master Monet, from the expressive brushstrokes, mixed color, light, composition, etc…. , and children can apply it in the workspaces of the book.
Each lesson is accompanied by images of the artist's artwork, so that children can learn about representative works, develop their visual acuity of art and judgment. In the end the child is invited to invent and create their own exhibition of works of art putting everything into practice!
I applaud this series from Quarto Publishing. Art reflects an outstanding characteristic of our humanity, the capacity for creative expression, the master command of symbolic language, the transformation of the objective into infinite subjective interpretations.

My sincere appreciation to the Publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to review the book

I love this book’s progression! From brief biography to timeline to drawing Monet-esque details. In the end, I had an increased appreciation for Monet’s work. A must for fans of Klimt or budding young artist.
