This is a really funny book that got darker than I expected towards the middle. It's perfect for cat lovers and cat haters alike, the humour coming from the situations Business Cat gets put in and the way he reacts to them. I'm really happy that Business Cat is not reserved for the internet only anymore where I and so many others first came across it. This book is perfect for digital mediums and a quick laugh in the middle of the day.

Thank you to Andrew McMeel Publishing and Net Galley for this ARC.

I'm a fan of Business Cat and was already following his adventure online.
I love the mix of typical business moments with cat behavior.
This comic make me laugh and think at the same time.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

This was a fun collection that was both linear and non-linear. The art style was fun and easy to follow and I really enjoyed the stories created by Fonder. A fun bind up that it worth the couple of hours it takes to read.

I’m a fan of Business Cat. So happy to get a copy of this arc from Netgalley. It’s a simple and quick read, great when one isn’t not in the best of health and can’t read anything too wordy.

Well, I knew that Business Cat was a thing, however, I did not follow it before and did not know the story or anything. So, I cannot say if this is a repeat or a whole new story. I was a bit surprised that it was a continuous story from start to finish.
And while I did enjoy it, I cannot say that I was laughing from start to finish... or at all. It was a fun read but nothing that would make me grin or anything.
However, I have to say that the cat or bird on a human body when they take their clothes off is rather disturbing!

Business Cat is the CEO of a multi-million dollar company. What does he do there? Mostly sit around and stare at nothing. Play in the file cabinets. Knock things over. After he's ousted, he has to find a new home and a new job.

This story is told in comic strip style, but there is a cohesive narrative. It reminded me a lot of Manfred the Man - a hilarious comic about a little man who acts like a cat and is raised by giant cats.

I just really liked it! It's fun, cute, and totally ridiculous.

Business Cat: Hostile Takeovers is a great read for anyone who owns pets, works, or both. I had hoped it would be fun for my YA section, but the audience is definitely more working world adult. I plan on recommending that the adult collection add this. It's a great read for lovers of The Oatmeal and Sarah's Scribbles.

I'm a fan of the business cat comics and I'm glad to see this book. I think the premise of a person-cat doing cat stuff is hilarious but has the potential to be worn out quickly. This book does not do that and I like how it also brought in additional characters and a bit of light suspense. It was really fun and there were some really unexpected characters, like the prison gang. A fun read that wasn't very long but also wasn't too short.

Received a digital ARC on NetGalley

I've seen his comics before going into the book and I just love the absurdity of the comics. This one didn't dissapoint! I just have so many questions.

At the ends there's like extra panels for each comic and that made it 3 times better in my opinion.

I loved this book! For some reason I didn’t really like the first one at all but I found this one to be really funny and interesting. It’s just a really entertaining read and if you like cats you’d definitely like this book.

I should probably preface this review by saying that I’m a huge fan of Business Cat. I think the comics are hilarious, and I’ve been reading them here and there online as I’ve been able to.
Business Cat is written and drawn by Tom Fonder. You can find the comics online, or you could do what I mainly do, which is wait for them to come out in book form and binge them all. While also keeping your eye open for the online comics. Why not?
The basic premise, on the off chance that you don’t know, is that the CEO of a company is well…he’s a cat. More accurately, a cat head on a human body. The end result is…interesting. And it leaves a lot of room for office shenanigans. Hence the entire premise for some insane (but fun) plots.
Business Cat is really a perfect series for anybody that enjoys humor like this, and honestly for cat owners as well. We know some of Business Cat’s behavior all too well, and sometimes it’s a real treat to see it shoved into a different perspective or situation.
It’s been a while since I was able to sit down and read through an entire plot arc for Business Cat, so this volume was exactly what I’ve been hoping for. It was over one hundred pages of comics all surrounding the same core plot. The series itself has been a lot of fun, but it was also nice to have something a bit more that I could sink my teeth into.
This was a really fun book with lots of hilarious moments. I’m not going to tell you my favorite moment (and yes, I absolutely do have a favorite), because it’d be a major spoiler. But I will say that I nearly cried laughing at that point. So consider yourselves warned!

Loved this one! But I already knew business cat and read it online so I knew I would! Fun read absolutely! Also, as a cat owner, I can relate...

This is hilarious. A cat CEO? Yes, please. Other animals in leadership/rising positions? I'll take those, too. I know two business professors in particular who need this book.

RATING: 4.8/5

This book was a really great and funny read. With some adult humor sprinkled in it too. This book reminded me of my cat, and all of her crazy shenanigans. All around a really cute and funny read.

I got an ARC of this book.

Today was a wonderful day. Part of that being due to getting an award tonight, which meant I was looking for something that I could read under the table and not get caught since award ceremonies can really drag on when one wants to be home in bed reading. This was the perfect choice. The other part was my grandmother surprised me with a computer so you can look forward to more posts in the evening and on the weekend, which depending on how you feel about my reviews might be a good or a bad thing. The combination of this goofy book, a night of feeling special, and an outrageously generous gift will make this a day I will remember for a long time.

My grandmother did hit me while we were at the award ceremony, because I kept laughing out loud and trying to show her some of the strips. She would roll her eyes and mumble about “cats being cats”. If you enjoy cats or making fun of cats, then this book could really make your day a bit brighter. It is goofy in the best possible way. There are very few poop jokes, despite the ability to go there really easily. There are a lot of jokes that will only really hit you if you are a cat person or a dog person. Bird people even get a few special ones in this collection.

I was dying at the idea that the pound/humane society was prison for animals. I have no doubts that is how my dogs saw it when they were there (please rescue!). Outside of the animal humor, I really enjoyed the business humor. I kept comparing Business Cat to my boss and realized how lucky I really am. Though I have left a (fake) dead bird in her office, so maybe I am the business cat in the situation.

Pretty much this book is a quick read and really fun if you are an animal person. There is some basic plot, but nothing all that difficult to follow. This is the second book in the series, but even if you have never read a BC comic before you can pick it up without any fuss. I can see myself buying multiple copies of this book and sending it out for holidays. It really is one of those books that is just pure and wonderful. I wouldn’t worry about offending cat people, despite some of the jokes being at a cat’s expense (looking at you cats that knock things off of tables FOR NO REASON).

If you are looking for a book that will be an easy pick-me-up or just something lighthearted and fun, this is a good choice. I am glad this is one of the webcomics that has been picked up for publishing as it really was worth reading a great number of them in one go.

Heh. Business Cat cracks me up. I've followed the webcomic for a few years, and it rarely fails to amuse. The same can be said for this book.

If you have ever spent any significant time with cats, you will probably knowingly chuckle your way through this book. Even if you don't like cats, you should get some of the jokes within.

4 highly amused stars for Business Cat: Hostile Takeovers.

Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing me with a DRC of this book.

This was a fun collection of comics showing what would happen if a cat became a business man. It would make a great gift for a cat owner.

This comic is freakin hilarious! I was literally laughing at every comic strip. If my cat was a “business cat” she would undoubtedly do the same things. Every cat lover should read this comic, and the rest of humanity should too. I love the artwork, I love the story line. The only thing that I didn’t like is that I had to stop reading (because the comic came to an end).

Thank you to Netgalley for the free ARC!!

OK, I am not a cat person. I have always owned Howards. But this is hilarious and weirdly heartwarming. The art is simple and engaging, and the narrative is fun and laughingly relatable. Though a sequel to the first book, this one stands alone well. Def recommend to public libraries where graphic novels are popular.

It is a graphic novel created by the author Tom Fonder. “Business Cat: Hostile Takeovers”, the main character is a cat with a human body who is the head of a company. In the comic strips you can see the typical office situations, but with Business Cat reacting to them as cats do usually: sitting on the lap of people, purring, play with a paper ball, etc.

It is a very fun comic, recommended for the general public and for those who love cats, as they will undoubtedly feel identified.

Thanks to Netgalley for sending me the digital version of the book "Business Cat: Hostile Takeovers"

Business Cat never fails to entertain me - as a proud employee of two cats, there's more than a little bit that I can relate to in here. Let's face it, anyone with a cat knows who's really in charge!
It's not just bits and pieces from his life though, this book has a narrative - a good one - and bonus panels at the back to extend the comics. Definitely a book to buy for anyone in happy servitude to their own feline.

4.5 stars.

I'd like to thank Andrews McMeel Publishing, Tom Fonder and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I once found some of these comics on Facebook, and they were really great, so I shared that page.

And now, when I found this for free on NetGalley, I knew I had to read this book!

Business Cat is basically a character which has a human body and a cat head. He acts weird (as cats do), but he also speaks with his employees and uses his mind to act smart (he keeps failling, but it's very funny at the same time).

When things are getting out of hand, he is replaced by Howard, a business dog! After this, he is going through a journey where he'll find his true self and new friends.

Although it's comic and funny, it also gives us some important lessons. It's a good book and it deserves to be read!

Business Cat has the head of a cat and the body of a human, but is accepted as a regular member of society as long as he keeps his clothes on. Despite his tendency to give in to his feline urges (lap sitting, mug swatting, meowing loudly for food when hungry) he is unquestionably leads his company as CEO until his delegation of accounting duties to his toy mouse gets the corporation audited. A very quirky webcomic-turned-graphic novel, but one that cat lovers will "get" for sure.

A wonderful compilation of this emblematic character which is the business cat. Loveful illustrations and scenarios.
