Description

Book 7 in The Black Knight Chronicles

Saving the world was only the beginning . . .

Detective Jimmy Black’s life as an accidental crime lord and Vampire Master of Charlotte has him longing for the days when the bad guys had neon signs above their heads and a couple of well-placed bullets won the day. Now he spends more time balancing books than kicking butts, and that doesn’t make for a happy vampire.

When a missing person case lands in the lap of Black Knight Investigations, Jimmy and his partner, Greg Knightwood, jump happily back into action—until their missing person rises as an uncontrollable vampire and all signs point to a supernatural coup orchestrated by an unknown vampire of immense power. With the case going sideways, more missing girls, and a new cop in town way too curious about Jimmy’s perennial youth, life in Charlotte is about to get interesting again.

All Knight Long by John G. Hartness is a witty urban fantasy story, part of a series. The main characters are Jimmy Black aka Master of the City and Greg Knightwood, his sidekick. They have a private investigation firm called Black Knight Investigations. Their newest case is to find a missing person but that turns out to be more complicated than that. Because she rises as a vampire and things escalate pretty fast from that point on.

The story is set in modern day Charlotte, NC. The supernatural world is unknown to humans. Well except for the chosen few. Like Jimmy’s girlfriend Sabrina the human detective. Jimmy is trying to lead a semi normal life while dealing with supernatural bad guys who try to kill him for one thing or other. There are a whole lot of references to previous books I haven’t read. Yet.

In retrospect, maybe starting a series with the 7th book wasn’t one of my best ideas. I was fully engaged after the first few chapters so I couldn’t stop even though I didn’t understand the references. And I loved the characters. The good ones aren’t always good and that makes the story even more interesting.

But I really enjoyed the story because it was funny and full of action. It’s highly recommended.

Thank you to NetGalley and Belle Books, Bell Bridge Books and John G. Hartness for my copy in exchange for my honest review.

I'm happy I requested this book because I discovered a very interesting urban fantasy series.
The book is entertaining, engaging and well written.
I liked the plot, the cast of characters and the world building was really interesting.
I think it's better to read the other books in this series before this one as I not always understood the references.
I look forward to reading another installment in this series.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

Great characters and humor galore! The world building in this series is fantastic. And just when you think Jimmy and Greg can't possibly get into a worse mess..... they go and do just that. I've been a fan of this series and this author for awhile now and devour every story he comes up with. If you like your urban fantasy with a lot of humor, quirky characters, and zany antics this is for you. You won't be disappointed.
